Valletta Small-Group Walking Tour

Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
On this tour you will visit the main highlights of Valletta, while also visiting an often ignored but equally fascinating part of the city. The tour starts at the modernized entrance of Valletta, and while walking along the majestic streets of the city, your guide will point out all the main landmarks, while keeping you entertained with fascinating and little-known true stories. What was it like to be a patient at the Holy Infirmatory? Or a galley slave on the ships of the Order? Were all Knights behaving in accordance to their vows?
  • Explore Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in a small group with a guide
  • See the Grandmaster’s Palace, St. John’s Co-Cathedral, and Fort St. Elmo
  • Learn about Malta’s history, culture, and architecture from your local guide
  • Stroll through the idyllic Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens
What to Expect
Join your guide and small group in the heart of Valletta. After a brief overview of the city’s history since the Knights of St. John (Hospitallers) built it in 1565, stroll past star attractions from the Baroque era: the Auberge de Castille, St. John’s Co-Cathedral, and the Church of St. Paul’s Shipwreck. Hear tales of Maltese history as you view the Grandmaster’s Palace.

See sights from the new Parliament building and the ruins of the Royal Theater to Fort St. Elmo and the Siege Bell War Memorial. Wander the charming Barrakka Gardens with their sweeping views across Grand Harbor as you learn about modern Valletta. Finally, bid guide and group farewell in central Valletta.

The tour doesn’t go inside St John’s, the guide gave us the history of the cathedral and the artworks inside. We went back later and visited, well worth it and allow at least an hour.
