About
Your guided hiking adventure will start from our Info Point Ashàra located in Piazza San Vincenzo Departure scheduled about 2 hours before sunset to admire the spectacular beauty along the side of the Sciara del Fuoco. After a short briefing, the excursion will begin which will lead us up to the maximum altitude of 400m During the first 2 hours of trekking we will make 2 or 3 intermediate breaks to enjoy the view and immortalize the natural beauty of this wonderful landscape. On our way we will meet and visit the old island cemetery and cross the typical Mediterranean scrub. Once we reach the Sciara del Fuoco, we will stop to admire a magnificent sunset over the Aeolian archipelago and the spectacular “Strombolian” activity typical of the volcano. We will then return to the starting point through the typical Strombolian reeds and the old mule track.

Hike 400 meters up Stromboli
Oct 2020 • Family
Excellent and very knowledgeable tour guides. Made sure everyone had the necessary equipment and was very attentive to everyone’s safety.

A very rigorous excursion that you have to be very well Physically prepared For. But very much worth it as watching Stromboli erupt was a spectacular experience!!

NOT WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN
Oct 2020 • Friends
I am not satisfied with the tour, unfortunately I feel quite disappointed. The tour is marketed as “the sunset tour” and groups of a maximum of 22 people.

Our group was made up of *30* people. Too many for an agile hike.
The tour is marketed as leaving base two hours before sunset, to allow time to watch sunset at 400 mts height. Yet the tour guide despite most people being there at 16:30, kept us waiting till 17:10. I asked once we had started the hike if we would make it in time for sunset, and he nonchalantly said we wouldn’t make it as it was already late. This is very disappointing as it is largely the whole point of making this hike. If you can not fulfil this promise market it as something else. Otherwise make sure groups are small and tour guides leave on time, departure time should be worked back from sunset to allow enough time to reach destination.

Dear Oscar, we are sorry that the tour was not to your liking. That day the group consisted of 30 people but there were 2 guides who divided the group into 15 and 15 Among other things, on that day all those people were present because in the previous and subsequent days there were no favorable weather conditions and therefore they all assembled in the same day. We are sorry for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing you as our guest in Stromboli Regards, Ashàra Team

Good value four hour hike
Oct 2020 • Solo
This is a good value guided trek to enable you to see some orange lava from a safe distance. If there is no cloud you will be guaranteed to see some as it happens roughly every ten minutes and you have about 45 mins at the viewpoint. I thought in the pandemic and in mid October it may be cancelled due to lack of demand, but no, there were maybe 16 of us, and there are other groups too. Headlight and helmet provided. My ordinary sneakers were fine. The guide spoke good English and added value. It requires a reasonable fitness to walk uphill for an hour, On sometimes rough terrain, but this isn’t like scaling a mountain to the top.

Spectacular hike
We had a wonderful time hiking up to the Sciara del Fuoco to admire the natural explosions of the Stromboli last night. The guide was super knowledgeable and kind and took us to a prime spot at 400m altitude for us to admire the volcano. We stayed there about 1 hour and then hiked back in the dark with headlamps they provided. Take plenty of water and a snack with you. I hiked in shorts and t-shirt with a sweater for the volcano break and that was more than enough (at this time of year). I hiked in my sneakers and it was fine. It only gets very very dusty so the recommendation to wear higher socks is a good one!
The hike was very dynamic but totally doable if you are an active person.

Rigorous Hike with great views
Sep 2020 • Couples
Whoever said this was an ‘easy hike’ was on a very different hike than we were. It may be that the guide was being aggressive and taking shortcuts to make it by sunset, but our version was rigorous. We hike A LOT at high altitudes even and I would rate this as strenuous. The way down followed an easy path, which may have been the original path up but the one we took was steep, a scramble and rocky.

Views at end were great! Hot lava shooting everywhere but it happens quick so have you camera ready.

Thanks for your feedback!! Certainly the climb to a volcano is always very demanding and not easy for everyone, but when you get there, the spectacle that Stromboli offers makes you forget the tiredness you have on. Thanks for choosing us!! Warm greetings, Ashàra Team

Great sights, ok tour
Sep 2020 • Couples
Stromboli was an amazing place to visit and the constant eruption of lava was such an amazing sight that’s an experience on its own. The tour was not very engaging and was more of a group trek. Would still recommend as the eruptions were amazing, but just to set your expectations.

Unforgettable volcano show
Jul 2020
Even if the slope of the hike is steep at times (take hiking poles if you are not too athletic), the landscapes are really beautiful.
We were rewarded at the top (at an intermediate level for safety reasons, because of the 2019 summer eruption) with a splendid sunset and the fascinating spectacle of the volcano explosions. An unforgettable experience !! Giuseppe was a very interesting and friendly guide.

A MUST! Great experience and nice guide
Jul 2020 • Friends
Nice moderate trekking to the 300 mark (highest allowed now) and AMAZING experience watching the volcano spitting out fire, really something that sticks I your retina.

Total 4,5 hours (1,5 hours trekking to go up, 1 hour watching the volcano erupt, and one hour down through a more paved path.

Better to take their shoes as they get full of dust. Giuseppe was very nice guide, cool and calm, explaining history and timing everything (departure, sunset o the way, arrival) very nicely.

Will come back for sure, hopefully able to get higher next time.

Realy great experience for everyone! The trip was great also because of nice atmosphere created by our guide, a lot of interesting information and explanations of vulcanos and vulcanology and the best possible timing - sunset lights were marvellous and we were exactly on time at the top to see them.
