Highlights
  • Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee shore excursion from Haifa
  • Driver-guide shares landmarks from the New Testament
  • Suited to anyone wanting to see sacred Christian sites
  • Port pickup and drop-off is included by minivan
What to expect
  • This full-day tour begins with a Port of Haifa pickup in an air-conditioned minivan. Then it’s a short drive through the Carmel Mountains to Nazareth, the capital and largest city in the Northern District of Israel, also known as “the Arab capital of Israel.” In the New Testament, Nazareth is described as the home of Mary and the childhood home of Jesus. As a result, it’s a center of Christian pilgrimage, with many shrines commemorating biblical events. On this tour, visit the Church of the Annunciation, where the Angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary to tell her she would be the mother of Jesus. See the Church of St. Joseph, built over the carpentry workshop of Mary’s husband, Joseph, and pass through Kafr Kanna, where Jesus turned water into wine. Farther north, pass by the Church of the Multiplication next to the Sea of Galilee. This is where the miracle of the loaves and fishes took place in the Gospel of John. Walk along the shores of the Sea of Galilee and visit the village of Capernaum, where Jesus spent time teaching in the local synagogue. It was also the home town of the apostles Peter, James, Andrew, and John. Finally, travel to the southern end of the Sea of Galilee, where the Jordan River meets the Dead Sea in Tiberias. This is where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. And make a stop to see the Mount of Beatitudes, a hill in northern Israel where Jesus is believed to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount. The tour concludes here. Board the coach for the return trip to the Port of Haifa. Worry-free Shore Excursion: We will ensure your timely return to the Port of Haifa for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

Biblical Galilee
Jan 2020
We had an excellent tour of Biblical Galilee with Guided Tours Israel. Our guide, Mickey, did a wonderful job of giving us the history of each place that we visited and moving us from place to place so that we didn't miss any of the important sites. I highly recommend Guided Tours Israel not only for the great tour that they planned for us, but for the price and communication before the tour that made the day go very well.

A+++ Experience with Guided Tours Israel!
Feb 2020
We were on 2 full-day shore excursions (Biblical Galilee and Jerusalem and Bethlehem). From the outset, Leo was wonderful – always professional, quick to respond to emails, very organized and detail-oriented. Despite our cruise ship having to change itineraries and dates at the last minute, he quickly accommodated us.

The Holy Land has been on my bucket list for almost 40 years. Given that we were docked in Haifa for only 2 days, we wanted the most comprehensive overview possible. Guided Tours Israel successfully did that for us!

We were extremely impressed with our guide Michal. Often, I have difficulty understanding tour guides in countries for which English is not the primary language. I understood every word that Michal spoke! He was very knowledgeable and not only provided a wealth of information about history, culture, and religion, but also told personal anecdotes that made us appreciate what sites we were visiting.

We recommend Guided Tours Israel with unbounded enthusiasm!

Amazing tour company
Jan 2020
In January 2020 we went on two day trips, from Queen Mary 2, with Israel Guided Tours. I cannot recommend Leo and Yonathan enough.
Leo got back to my email within a day with suggestions, ideas and times. The tours were really reasonably priced and we could pay on the day.
Leo sent several emails with detailed instructions.
On the day of the first tour Yonathon met us at the port and we had a fantastic day with so much information given and the most wonderful places visited. Day two was the same.

Amazing Jerusalem and Bethlehem
Nov 2019 • Couples
I booked this trip on the recommendation of a friend. I have to say it was truly amazing. Yonathon our tour guide was absolutely brilliant, he had a wealth of knowledge and was able to answer any of our questions. It was a very informal and friendly tour, not too many people in the group - there was 8 in our group. I have to say i couldn’t fault it at all it was brilliant and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family. Thoroughly worthwhile and value for money.

Was an informative trip. I think the trip may have been better with a Christian guide. Very long day. Liked the Capernaum (Jesus's hometown) location as well.

Fantastic trip to all the major sites!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour to Nazareth and Galilee. Haggai was our tour guide and did a great job sharing information as we toured the various sites. The Mercedes van was like new and very comfortable. We loved putting our feet into the Sea of Galilee and visiting the excavations of ancient Nazareth. The visit to the Jordan River was also a highlight. I highly recommend this tour. Much better than a tour on a big bus.

My husband and I had a fabulous time with Guided Tours Israel!

We took two trips from the Haifa Port; Day 1 was their "Jerusalem and Bethlehem shore excursion" and Day two was their "Biblical Galilee - full day Christian focused shore excursion".

We were able to see all of the important places (in just two days) that we were excited to finally travel to. Both days, the tour guide that we had was amazing...they were knowledgeable, professional, spent a lot of time explaining the history, as well as current situations.

Our guides were both very open to questions and answered them thoroughly. The tours were well organized to be able to see so many places in two days and we didn't feel rushed. It was especially enjoyable to tour with a small group and with the tour presented in just one language.

We highly recommend this tour!

We were picked up promptly at the cruise terminal and taken to a new, Mercedes 16-seater. Our tour guide, a nice, elderly gentleman, gave us a history We were greeted by our tour guide as soon as we stepped out of the cruise terminal. We were taken to a late model Mercedez 16-seater and our tour left the cruise terminal promptly at 8 AM. The tour guide gave us a quick lesson of Israel with visual aides as soon as we hit the road. That was helpful. The rest the the tour went smoothly and we were dropped off at the cruise terminal without incident.

Now the negatives. There were several issues that made the excursion less enjoyable. Our guide is soft spoken and with large crowds and tour groups constantly nearby, it was nearly impossible to hear him. Even in the mini bus, we couldn’t hear him because we were seated in the back. It would’ve been a more engaging experience if listening devices were provided, so that we knew where we were going and the significance of what we were looking at. It was a missed opportunity.

Lunch was not provided and it would’ve been nice if we were taken to a unique restaurant for a cultural experience. Or to a commercial area where we can have a few options. Or a restaurant that locals go to. Instead, we were taken to a so called “restaurant” inside a strip mall with nothing else nearby. This restaurant obviously only caters to large tour groups. It is a very basic dining hall with rows and rows of long tables. You can have a choice of fish, chicken, or beef, along with a tiny tiny salad bar, for a $22/person. Needless to say, the driver/tour guide must get huge kickback for this overpriced meal. I feel like they are more interested in lining their own pockets then providing a good experience.

At the end of the tour & before we were dropped off. A fellow traveler asked “what about Baha’i Gardens?” The tour guide insisted it is not part of the tour even though it is clearly on our itinerary and the image of Baha’i Garden is used on TripAdvisor as the main attraction. At the end, the tour guide decided to swing by, let us off the bus for maybe 30 seconds to snap a few pictures from about a block away. I tried to persuade the guide into giving us 10-20 minutes to walk the garden as described on the itinerary, but he repeatedly say it is not part of the tour and rushed us back to the cruise terminal.

We finished the tour well before 5 PM (<9 hours). The tour description says it normally lasts between 9-10 hours. All aboard was 9:30 PM. We were in no rush to head back. The only reason we missed the chance to visit the Baha’i Garden was because the
tour guide didn’t want to do it. I have to say I was extremely disappointed to say the least, as the gorgeous picture of the garden is what attracted me to this tour.

Thank you for writing a review. Unfortunately, we have no record of your complaint so not sure you really did tour with us. We contact all of our guests after their tours with us and if anyone has a valid complaint we are happy to give them a refund according to our Satisfaction Guarantee policy. We have not heard from anyone making a complaint about not visiting the Baha'i Gardens (which we do include as part of the itinerary – but as a panoramic visit only - as clearly described in our communication prior to any booking we receive). Please make sure that you are reviewing the correct company. Thank you! Guided Tours Israel (com)
