The Tour Guide is thought provoking about torture and punishment in today's "civilised world. Until a few centuries ago, cities around the world had its scaffold on the market place and a gallows field at the gate. The rack below the city hall was a common method for sharp interrogation, and the executioner had a recognised trade: "The first stroke is the one that counts". Ecclesiastical lawyers devised special punishments for the exceptional crimes of witchery and heresy. The Spanish Inquisition used an elaborate range of instruments to fight against those evil works of the devil.

Excellent experience!
Jan 2020
My son and I really enjoyed our trip to the Wax Museum. Some of the figures upstairs are not quite realistic but the guided tour downstairs in the chamber of horrors makes up for it. The guide who took us for a tour was knowledgeable and made it an interesting historical journey through the ages, relating to the ways people used to be tortured. It is graphic, certainly but accurate and morbidly fascinating. I recommend a visit!

Guided tour a must !
Nov 2019
The guided tour itself is worth the cost of admission, very informative for history buffs or just the curious. Our guide seemed truly passionate on the subject which kept the tour very engaging.

The figures upstairs were interesting, some of the figures seemed more life like than others, the recent Late Bob Hawke's likeness was fantastic.

Too scary for children
Oct 2019
The chamber of horrors is definitely not for children. It’s very graphic and the tour guide adds many more horrific details. I was initially reluctant to take my children, but was persuaded to do so by the ticket salesman, and I regretted it. We left the tour early. The upstairs display is great!

So pleased you enjoyed the Famous People section of the Gold Coast Wax Museum. Yes there are some very interesting art works there. Sorry you found the Chamber of Horrors a bit graphic. Usually people find this sort of history interesting, that is why Horrible Histories are so popular with the younger ones.

If you have been to Madam Toussards in London you will find this disappointing. It does not compare when it come to celebrities and likeness of models. If you have never been to a wax museum you will enjoy it.

Hi Liza. We appreciate your review and yes we are NOT Madam Toussards. We fill a niche market in the Gold Coast Tourism scene. There are many Wax Museums throughout the world and all are different. All the best.

The Gold Coast Wax Museum is an excellent way to spend a bit of time when stuck for ideas on what to do in Surfers Paradise. It's within walking distance of Cavill Avenue. After finding out the details on how long it takes to handcraft those wax figures, you give this whole place a whole new appreciation. Thank you for the tour and interesting facts to the owners and to Experience Oz for making the booking process smooth and straightforward.
