Tasmania packs a lot of natural beauty for its minuscule size: gothic mountains, World Heritage waterfalls, farm-and-food scenes, and wildlife sanctuaries. It can be a challenge to see everything, but this 5-day “lap” of Tasmania—which moves from mountains to rainforests to beaches—allows you see nearly as much as possible on a guided tour. Plus, four nights’ accommodation and national park entrance fees are included.
What to Expect
Your tour begins in one of the designated pickup points in Hobart. Board your tour bus and hit the road for Russel Falls, Lake St. Clair, and Mount Field National Park. Visit wilderness and waterfalls, lunch at Lake St. Clair, and watch a sunset over Lake Rosebery. Spend the night in Tullah.

The second day is spent exploring Montezuma Falls and sand dunes. Montezuma Falls, one of the tallest in the country, is not on most tour itineraries. Have lunch in Strahan and then move to the Henty Sand Dunes. Spend the night in dorms or ensuite rooms in Tullah.

Day three is for mountains and salmon tasting. Visit Cradle Mountain, and choose to explore it with a quiet stroll or a more challenging hike. Lunch in Sheffield—the town of murals—and sample honey and smoked salmon. Finish the day with a visit to Cataract Gorge and spend the night in Launceston.

Make your first stop of day four at the Bay of Fires, famous for its crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches, and lichen-covered boulders. Taste local cheese and Tasmanian oysters. Come evening, walk to the beach to see penguins on the shore. Spend the night in Bicheno.

The fifth and final day starts with a visit to a wildlife sanctuary to see rescued animals, including the Tasmanian Devil (extra cost). Then, visit Freycinet National Park and Wineglass for a few hours on your own. In the afternoon drive down the coast and stop at Kate’s Berry Farm.
