    What to Expect
Sea kayak to Rangitoto Island, the largest and youngest of Aucklands volcanoes and the landmark of the Auckland region, while the sun is slowly setting over Auckland and the Waitakere Ranges.

Complimentary pick up and drop off from central Auckland upon request (Auckland Ferry Building) After your safety briefing and paddling instruction you will kayak across the Waitemata harbour, meaning 'sparkling waters', where you may see wildlife such as Little Blue Penguins and Cooks Petrels.

We pull our kayaks up to Rangitoto wharf before embarking on a one-hour explorative, fun and informative trek to the summit, viewing the spectacular sites and learning all about the history of the region. Upon reaching the top you will be treated to the finest 360 degree views that the Auckland region has to offer.

At the return to the water’s edge, a healthy Kiwi-style BBQ dinner will be awaiting you.

With your guide, you will paddle back in the dark watching the city lights sparkle like stars.

Our guides are very experienced and skilled sea kayakers with a personal commitment and passion for conservation and kayaking. Their knowledge of the area, understanding of the weather systems and catering abilities will ensure your trip is both enjoyable and safe.

What a unique, breathtaking experience! I will start by saying I have never kayaked extensively before. I've paddled around a little with no real destination in mind, sure, but I am definitely not an avid kayaker by any stretch of the imagination. However I was...More

Shannon, Awesome to read that you loved your Sunset tour to Rangitoto with Eric. Our guides are trained on Hauraki Gulf specific interpretation and great to hear that this is working. Winter can be a little more challenging than other seasons but as you stated...More

Our group comprised a few local friends and some overseas travellers. The website states that no kayaking experience is necessary, but there is no indication of what fitness level is required. I think the website should state explicitly that you will be paddling continuously for...More

Thank you for the review. Its really nice to guide local and people from outside Auckland. Here at Auckland Sea Kayaks we get approx 60% Aucklander's doing our tours which is very humbling and nice for people over seas to interact with locals. This summer...More

This is a sensational tour, but not for anyone who isn't ready for an Outward Bound-type experience. I would highly recommend that no one under 16 try this trip. In addition, wear good clothes (maybe water-proof clothes) and very good hiking shoes. It could not...More
