We did a self-guided tour, first visiting Parliament then going along the waterfront to Weta Workshop. It took about an hour to get to Weta Workshop from the bike shop. We certainly would have had a hard time if we didn't have electric bikes, as we were combatting the wind much of the time. It probably makes sense to reserve early if planning to rent electric bikes.

After we reached Weta Workshop, we discovered that one of the bikes had a flat. The shop sent someone to bring a replacement bike, and we were able to all ride bake to the shop just before closing time. Despite the wind, biking along the Wellington waterfront is a memorable experience, and Switched On is highly recommended.

I hired an ebike for a self guided tour of the Wellington coastline. Switched on bikes are easy to find right on the waterfront. They provide a good map which was easy to follow and also have good route info on their website.
My bike was a step through one. It had the most comfortable seat I have ever ridden on, so comfortable I am going to get one the same for my own bike.
I was so impressed with the service from these guys. I thought $80 was very reasonable for a full day hire. With it they included helmet, gloves, a lock, a gas puncture repair, map and high vis jacket. All in excellent condition.
The bike also had a pannier bag so I could stow my gear.
I got a great briefing on how to use it and I was off.
No worries with the wind on this bike. The battery still had a bit of juice after 55KM and I did do a bit of full battery use into the head wind.
I would recommend this ebike hire company anytime you want an ebike in Wellington. Great friendly service.

Wellington is surprisingly very bike friendly, lovely bays to bike around (all very different), great cafes along the way, views, everything. The bike was perfect, came with a sturdy locking chain, large zip pannier, helmet, gloves. The seat was wide and comfortable. Very good map (although the print was very small) and excellent instructions from the staff member.,

What an OUTSTANDING day! We are not regular cyclists but felt totally prepared and expertly instructed and went on to have a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE. I don't think I stopped smiling the whole day. The bikes were of excellent quality and we felt safe and visible. I didn't want to give the bike back - I loved the day so much. We would thoroughly recommend Switched On Bikes wholeheartedly. Thank you.

Took bikes up to the Paekakariki area - first stop was the Beach Road Cafe' which is a definite must! Delicious food and great coffee. Completed 29 k's on the Queen Elizabeth Park Trail - an easy sealed trail. So nice to get out of the city. My e-bike performed well!

What an outstanding experience this is! I wanted to know if I might purchase an e-bike in the future and wanted to try a suitable bike. It was just the most amazing experience. These guys have got it sorted!! I was matched with a bike to suit my needs, explanations were full and informed and at all times, staff were friendly and helpful. The bike itself is the best I have ever ridden - obviously maintained and presented to me, the client, in the best possible condition to make my experience awesome, which it was. A HUGE THUMBS UP to this company and for inspiring me to look at a purchase. We all need to do our bit to help our environment and this is one fantastic way to make our contribution. Encourage this business - they are so worthy of our support.

So much fun. Really kind staff to set you up - maps provided all the possible routes to take around the bays. Electric bikes meant we could ride through the wellington wind with ease + the bikes were suitable for some smaller and hilly tracks. Highly recommend!!!

We wanted to explore this lovely city but I was tired after a lot of travelling so my daughter walked it and I decided to use Switched on Bikes.

It was a great decision!

I got to see more sights and even made it to the top of Victoria Hill without stopping.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and after a quick safety tutorial I was off to enjoy myself.

I'll certainly do it again!

Switched On Bikes provided fantastic service, a great bike and lots of useful advice and information. I thought the rental charge was very reasonable for a full day out on a quality ebike from a most convenient location. I thought the online route suggestions were very helpful and helped me plan my day. I chose to take the nearby ferry to Days Bay and after a coffee in Eastbourne I cycled out to the lighthouse and track beyond. On getting back off the ferry I enjoyed cycling the Wellington waterfront before returning my bike. A really enjoyable day out and I’m glad I chose an ebike as there was a big headwind coming back from the lighthouse.
