Dream come true to visit an amazing beach with an incredible ocean life. I visited the islands with a group of young travelers from all over the world with TopDeck. One of the best experiences in Australia.
Make your way to the Port Airlie marina in time for an early-morning departure. Board your air-conditioned high-speed catamaran and set sail for the Whitsunday Islands.
If you’ve chosen the guided tour option, make your first stop at 4-mile (7-kilometer) Whitehaven Beach and enjoy dramatic views of one of Australia’s most photographed beaches. Follow your guide on a bushwalk along the Solway Circuit, stopping at some impressive viewpoints along the way, then return to the beach where you’ll have free time to swim, sunbathe, or play some beach games.
If you’ve chosen to visit on a self-guided tour, you will be dropped at the beach and have the morning to spend at your leisure.
Continue to Hamilton Island in time for lunch, cruising across the scenic Solway passage. Dine at either the Manta Ray Café (guided tour participants) or the Marina Tavern (self-guided tour participants) overlooking the marina.
Spend the afternoon exploring Hamilton—the largest island resort in the South Pacific—either with or without your guide. All tour participants can use the island’s shuttle buses to hop between sights such as Front Street, Marina Village, One Tree Hill, and Cateye Beach, and there are ample walking trails and swimming beaches to choose from. Other possible activities include a visit to the Wild Life Hamilton Island nature park, where you can spot native Australian animals such as koalas, wombats, and crocodiles, or water sports such as stand-up paddleboarding.
Self-guided tour visitors can also opt to visit Hamilton Island in the morning and Whitehaven Beach in the afternoon.
After a full day exploring the Whitsundays, board your boat for the return journey and end your tour back at Airlie Beach.
