What to Expect
Meet your guide in the heart of historic U Street. After greetings and introductions, whet your appetite with a chili tasting at Ben's Next Door, directly across from the U Street Metro. Continue on a walking tour of U Street and Shaw, two historic neighborhoods that were once the heart of black culture in America. Pass by famous landmarks and murals, many of which are unmarked or hard to find without the knowledge of a guide. As you learn about the impact of U Street’s music, art, and architecture, stop at a variety of local-approved eateries to taste chili dogs, Ethiopian entrees, Jamaican tea, and more. Your tour ends in Shaw, home of the famous Howard Theater. Leave with the knowledge that a portion of your ticket price goes to help the area's residents in need.
