- S8260BRlaurah0 contributionsFantastic Tour guided by JeffOur tour was guided by Jefferson (Jeff) who in itself, turned out to be a very interesting person. We couldn't decide whether to do the Howler Monkey or Altun Ha along with the Cave Tubing. Since there were only 2 of us on our tour, Jeff made a phone call and said we could do all 3 with a minimal extra fee. So our last day in Belize turned out doing all the things we wanted to do before we left. We started out with visiting the Howler Monkeys which was a stop at a person's house who took us along a beautiful walk in the jungle calling for the monkeys. There is a family of 5 that live in the trees and sure enough, they all showed up. He gave us bananas and told us to stand with our backs next to a branch and they came down to grab the bananas. We got excellent photos and one even had a tiny baby with her. Then we headed to the Altun Ha ruins but not before Jeff stopped to grab a Biliken beer. Altun Ha was breathtaking. Be sure to wear a hat and comfortable shoes if you want to climb up to the top of the ruins to see the whole area. Then we headed to a roadside restaurant where we had a great lunch with roasted chicken, coleslaw and rice & beans which was deliciously homemade. Our last stop was the Nohoch Che’en Caves. Be sure to wear sturdy water shoes with a thick tread as you walk over a lot of rocks. Jeff changed into his swim attire and guided us through the caves carrying our tubes and pulling us along in the water. He was so informative pointing out everything in the cave including the small insect bats. After our tour, Jeff let us stop to get one final beer before taking us back to our hotel. Jeff has led the most amazing life and does so much for his community in Belize. The best part of the tour was talking to him and getting to know all about Belize. He has been doing the tour for almost 20 years and definitely made the trip more interesting with his wealth of knowledge at every stop. Thanks to Percy, the owner, for allowing us to change our pick up spot and go to Altun Ha which wasn't on our initial itinerary. We will definitely come back and use Royal Belizean Adventures again. Thank you!Written 31 May 2024
- Ontheroadtogether20 contributionsLong day!...But worth it!Did this excursion as part of our cruise on Carnival Paradise last week. If you are doing it as part of a cruise, be prepared, as it is a very long day...but worth it. First you take a 20 minute tender ride from the ship to shore, where there are plenty of shops, which you will get to look around in while you wait. Then you get on a bus for 2 hr and 15 minute ride. During the ride, your guides will talk about all things Belize. We had Dora and Jr., and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. When we got to the ruins entrance, there are locals there with a few roadside shops and water (2 for $5). Next, you climb on a hand cranked ferry for a short ride across the river. Then, a minivan will take you the mile up the hill to the actual entrance to the ruins. Then it is an uphill climb where you finally get to the actual site! Jr gave a very informative talk about the history. You are allowed to climb the ruins if you wish. My husband and sons climbed about 2/3 of the way up. They said the view was amazing! We were there about 45 minutes-1 hour. Then back on the bus to Hodes restaurant for lunch. Nice outdoor/indoor restaurant. We had Chicken made with Recado Seasoning, Macaroni Salad made with salad cream, and Beans and Rice. Soda, iced tea and water are included. Full bar if you want for an extra cost. Like I said before.... long day, but if it is on your bucket list (like my husband), it is worth it. Our adult sons loved it as well. Even our 26 year old, who didn't seem thrilled about going, said it was amazing! As for me, it was not something that was on my bucket list, but it was really cool that I got to see it.Written 22 May 2024
- Dan M0 contributionsGreat Tour Guide, Great tour! Our tour guide was Jeff, he was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, funny and took great care of us. Although it was a long ride there and back, Jeff kept us occupied with deep knowledge of the country, city and places that we visited. More than that, Jeff made us feel safe, and kept us on time. The Ruins are absolute must see, you could truly sense the history and the property is very well maintained and unadulterated.Written 29 March 2024

- NorthStar6195860 contributionsTravelers beware !!We were so excited for our trip to see the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. I booked this trip a month ago for myself and my husband. I had already purchased our water taxi tickets totaling $130.54 for 2 round trip tickets from San Pedro to Belize City. Less than 24 hours before our tour was supposed to begin I received this message from the tour operator. (Pictured below) I understand people get sick, however given that this was booked a month in advance, paid in full, and other excursions were planned around this, something more needs to be done to rectify the situation. I also have some concerns given that 2 days before this tour was supposed to begin I received another message from the tour operator offering to give me a “cash price” which I respectfully declined given that it was already paid for on my credit card and to be perfectly honest seemed sketchy and not proper procedure when booked through TripAdvisor. (Also pictured below) Seems like a little more than a coincidence that after all of this correspondence my tour is cancelled at the last minute. I did receive a full refund as I should have, however the water taxi tickets are non refundable and I am writing this review to request a refund of an additional $130.54 for the 2 round trip water taxi tickets I paid for in advance of this canceled trip. We had other excursions planned and paid for during our stay in Belize so rebooking was not an option. Since the booking has been canceled by the operator I have no way of responding to the message about joining another tour. Given that I paid for a private tour that is what I expected. It’s unfortunate to have such a negative experience when the majority of the reviews seem positive, I am hoping this is a fluke for the operator and the situation can be rectified before seeking other means to fix this unfortunate situation I was put in. Looking forward to a resolution.Written 8 February 2024

- jasonbP6319FL0 contributions10 Star Tour!I do not know where to start so I'll just keep it short. This tour exceeded my expectations and I was left truly happy and glad I ended up choosing to do this for my wife and I anniversary. The ruins were so fulfilling and beautiful; especially when we climbed El Castillo and looked over into Guatemala. The caves were also thrilling and beautiful with plenty different colours for your eyes to marvel. All in all I give this tour 10 stars and recommend it to anybody that wants some adventure from Placencia.Written 31 July 2023
- jasonbP6319FL0 contributionsBest Day Ever! This tour was the best part of our trip to Belize! We could not have made a better decision choosing Percy and his team. My family was picked up from Maya beach and we travelled to a location about 2 hours away; don't worry, Percy kept giving us information and highlights as we went along. The caves were very clean and made us feel so relaxed that we could have fallen asleep. The Ziplines were fun and they made us feel safe every step of the way. Lunch was delicious and actually had us all sleeping on our ride back to our hotel. I would recommend these guys for any activity you want to do in Belize and will use them again in the future!Written 31 July 2023

- Jennifer Z0 contributionsMust seeThe tour was awesome. We had Percy as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Transportation was easy. Only thing to be aware of is that it does get very hot while at the ruins so bring lots of water and highly suggest going as early as possible in the morning to avoid large crowds and the heat. Highly recommend the tour and ask for Percy.Written 1 March 2023
- BettyA510 contributionsLearn about Mayan/Belize culturePercy was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the places we were touring and other general questions about Belize and it’s history. This tour leaves early to go the the Mayan ruins early to beat the heat and the crowds. We happened to book this tour on a “cruise ship day” and practically had the ruins to ourselves. We were able to see some Howler monkeys and ended our day with a taste of rum! Overall good experience.Written 1 March 2023
