We went in July and decided to pass on rental car this time and booked the 4 days pass with the Waikiki Trolley and we love it! We went on all 3 lines and had a great time on the ride. Our drivers were informative and quite funny - Bill on the red line, Keoki and Sisso on the blue line had us all laughing the whole time. I wish the trolley would go to Kailua, that would be a fun stop, hopefully in the future. One thing I would love to have is having 2 trolleys at the first stop on the blue line. We were up early for the 8:30am pick up at the 1st spot and yet the trolley get fill up fast and we all had to stand, making it hard having children with us. Overall, great experience

We booked the blue line scenic tour as a last minute thing to do and it ended up being the highlight of our time in Waikiki.
Ray Ray was the most entertaining guide you could ask for and we were laughing out loud or singling for most of the 2 hour trip. We even decided not to get off at the Leonard Bakery stop as we didn't want to leave her!!!
Great for kids and adults, our 16 & 10 year old were both thoroughly entertained.
We could not recommend this more highly

Our tour driver Keoki made the experience fun and exciting, he played lots of throwback music while we traveled. We were on the blue line, Keoki was very funny and informative, we learned a lot from the places we've passed by and stopped at. The views were fantastic and amazing! I really enjoyed the tour. Must see views.

The Tour Service did an extremely poor job of describing exactly what they provided. Basically, the provided a ride out to Pearl Harbor where you got access to the Missouri, the Bowfin submarine and a related museum (for an extra charge), and on shore museums a dedicated to the build up to, the day of, and the aftermath of the December 7 attack. The Tour Company gave you nothing that you could not have gotten on your own by rental car or even Uber.

The worst thing, is that they waited until the day before the tour that you were not guaranteed a trip out to see the Arizona Memorial. They say in their tour description that you “may” see the Arizona Memorial. They don’t tell you the only way to actually get tickets to see the Memorial is to call or visit the NPS after 3PM the day before you want to tour it and compete with everyone else for a limited supply of tickets. They do say you can wait in the standby line in hopes of getting on the one boat that still goes out to the Arizona. You see, a Navy boat driver crashed the docks several years ago, leaving only one spot to dock a boat. Our own Govt has not seen fit to repair access to a National Monument and word is it will only be considered after the new fiscal year begins.

Anyway, we stood in the standby line for about 45 minutes. There were at least 150 people ahead of us. We counted 130 people with tickets obtained the day before get on a 150 person boat. 20 people in the standby line got on. We left the line, a line that grew no shorter by the time our tour guide required us to get back in the bus.

If you want to see the Arizona Memorial, check with the National Park Service and know the drill before you go. We didn’t (didn’t know there was a drill) and we’re disappointed. Save the money you spent on the Tour and apply it towards doing it on your own. In fairness to WiKiki Trolleys, they are not the only ones running this scam. If they say the can guarantee a spot on the boat, don’t believe them. The Park service says they do not cater to commercial ventures. They have to compete with the public to get tix. They probably pose as tourists to do so.

As most travellers know, all it takes is a single event to taint one’s vacation experience. In this case, that taint came in the form of the ticket checker at the Waikiki Shopping Plaza trolly stop (stop #1), on the afternoon of April 26th

We had been enjoying our 7 day all line pass, and had several wonderful trips on the pink red and blue lines. Every driver deserved 5 stars.

This was the last day of our 7 day pass; we decided to take one last trip on the red line to visit Zippy’s on Vineyard, and spend the afternoon at Foster Botanical Gardens, so we hopped on the pink line, to the Waikiki Shopping Plaza to catch the 12:30 red line.

When we got there, 20 minutes before the red line arrived, the the ticket checker was loudly disparage “his drivers”, telling other waiting customers “I’m going to have to talk to my drivers”, and “they should not have let you do that”.

As the red line arrived, he positioned us just makai of the trolly stop sign. When all the passengers had exited the arriving trolley, he decreed that we were in the wrong place (exactly where he positioned us), and that he would be boarding us last.

My wife has mobility issues, and uses two canes; getting on early determines if we get on at all, so we walked away to have lunch. Angry, and frustrated. My only words to him were “that would have been nice to know”

We returned later to take the pink line back to our hotel. When we showed him our all line email ticket, he told us we could not get on the trolly with that, and proceeded to write up an orange slip. His coworker didn’t really seem to buy into this, but said it was a good idea. It was then that we realized that he had been doing this to everyone who had an email ticket.

Our email pass explicitly states:
“Use this email confirmation as your ticket to ride the Waikiki Trolley Pink, Red and Blue Lines.
Just show this email to the Pink, Red or Blue Line driver as you hop on at any of our convenient stops located throughout Waikiki.”

I’m not sure why he decided to implement his own policy, unless he gets a bonus for each orange slip.

This tainted what may be our last trip to Waikiki, and I expect he had had the same effect on hundreds of Waikiki Trolley patrons that day.

In early April, my daughter and I rode the red line. Ciso was a fabulous tour guide. He was easy to hear (not muffled), funny and informative. We liked that could get on and off at leisure. We got off at the Honolulu Museum of Art and the Japanese temple. (Temple was lovely. Chinatown area was a bit sketchy.) The bus was on time and not terribly crowded. This was a nice and safe way to spend the day! (We appreciated that Ciso showed us a hidden piece of art at Salt...and even offered a quick bathroom break at Ward!) We have ridden the bus on past trips (pre-Covid) and this return tour did not disappoint! (One day of riding was $40 US for adult and child.)

This tour was great! You have enough time at each place (about an hour) to really explore, or you can just ride it around and see the city. Our guide Ciso was very knowledgeable and gave us interesting facts along the way, including little history lessons. He was so funny too! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a good view of Honolulu.

My favorite part was stopping at Hanauma Bay and being able to take photos and video, however, Finny makes the entire tour. He points out all of the thinga that would possibly ask. I don’t remember anyone asking questions. He engaged the guests and encouraged them to play aling in answering the questions. His personality was outstanding and he pulled you on with some personal information about he and his fiancé which made you feel more comfortable. HE IS THE BEST!

Turned out the line I wanted which included Pearl Harbour (and the reason I purchased this ticket) was cancelled in 2021! 😡 I had to Uber back to a major Hotel stop ($30 USD) and then had to wait an hour for a trolley to appear. The driver kept accepting people after it was full so many people were ‘strap hanging’ and he he didn’t enforce the no standing in the stairwell policy! I got off at the stop where you can change lines only to be told that there were 150 people ahead of me for the blue line (so hours to wait in the hot sun) and a 45 minute wait for the red line (not my preferred option) so I gave up. A total waste of money!

For $5.00/person/day, you can hop on and off the trolley from Ala Moana Shopping Center to Waikiki. There are about 10 pick up points, running every 30 min this was a convenient way to get around. The best part was the entertaining driver, Uncle Tony, who pointed out the sights, provided tips, and gave an essential lesson in some Hawaiian words.
