Overview
A surf lesson on Oahu’s North Shore will have you standing up and catching waves faster than you could on your own—a must while in Oahu. This lesson takes you to a gentle cove and is conducted with small groups of at most three students per instructor, making it an ideal choice for beginners to catch their first wave. Plus, all equipment is included so you don’t have to find the right gear.
What to Expect
Your tour begins after you make your way to Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu, roughly an hour’s drive from Waikiki. Meet your instructor, grab a board, and begin to practice the basics of popping up and paddling on shore. Instruction is broken down enough that beginners can do it for the very first time, while more experienced surfers can get pro-tips to strengthen their moves.

Once you’re comfortable, gear up in your wetsuit and reef shoes and strap on your leash. In a protected cove, catch gentle waves with your instructor by your side. Many beginners pop up or even catch a wave by the end of the lesson!

When you book, choose among three options:
  • Small-group lesson of three students per instructor; ages 8 and older
  • Lesson of two students per instructor; no age restriction
  • Private family lesson limited to three students per instructor; no age restriction

Great lesson! Remember anti-nausea medication!

This was my second time ever surfing. I booked a 2-hour group lesson, and there were only two of us learning. The instructor was very nice and easy to talk to. We spent a few minutes on the sand learning technique. Because I had surfed...More
