Thailand's Ayutthaya Temples and River Cruise from Bangkok
From US$71.98
Overview
Navigating Bangkok’s chaotic roads independently can be a daunting task. Swap transportation hassles for a comfortable coach (with hotel pickup and drop-off) and a relaxing river cruise on this Ayutthaya tour. Explore the UNESCO-listed site on foot; hear guide commentary about its history; and visit highlights such as Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the summer palace of King Rama IV, famed for its mixture of Thai, Chinese, and Gothic architecture.
What to Expect
Following hotel pickup in Bangkok, you’ll travel north to the UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand (aka the Kingdom of Siam). On arrival, you’ll disembark the coach and embark on a walking tour of Ayutthaya temples, monasteries, and palaces.

Admire temples such as Wat Mongkhon Bophit, Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, and Wat Phanan Choeng, famed for its gilded seated Buddha statue. Marvel at the well-preserved summer palace of King Rama IV with its mixture of Thai, Chinese, and Gothic architecture.

After lunch, you’ll return to Bangkok via the Chao Phraya River (Mae Nam Chao Phraya) on a scenic cruise. The tour ends with hotel drop-off.

Good overview of historical sites

We had just one day free when on a business trip to Bangkok so this was a good tour for us. Lots of info from our tour guide. Great food on the river boat.

Decent day trip

The tour was well planned with a guide called Jom who sprinkled some humor into her historical narratives. Everything was per time, but if you're interested in spending more time at the ruins, it'd be better for you to book a private tour or a...More

Don't do it if you are interested in the archeological site!

I was a bit disappointed as the main reason I wanted to go to Ayutthaya was to visit the historical parc. Instead we visited only the Wat Mahathat. For me the tour was completely unbalanced. Too many hours on the cruise (at 1pm we were...More

Temples and River cruise

Would of loved to have spent more time at the ruins. Maybe by missing out Summer Palace. Lots of travelling but looked after by guide extremely well. Learnt a lot from her wealth of knowledge. Lunch was great for a buffet but cakes were cleared...More

Dear JOGray1961, Thank you for your feedback. As the tour is often called ‘Ancient Capital of Thailand Tour’ obviously a visit to the Summer Palace for royal families of centuries ago would not be considered ‘off-topic’. But appreciate and understand your comments and sincerely regret...More
