This tour was great fun. Everything worked out perfectly and we had a very entertaining guide. We can definitely recommend this, but please know that the tour is quite pricey and there are certainly cheaper alternatives - as per the quality of which I can’t speak.

Fantastic tour. The caves were interesting to go through, and kayaking was relaxing. The guides were excellent, especially when my child got a bit overwhelmed at the beginning of the kayak portion.

Very fun day, and definitely one of the highlights of our trip so far. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

In terms of limitations- Physically, this was not taxing in any way. The caves are large, but they are caves, and one or two sections required you to squeeze through. If someone has any sort of claustrophobia etc this could be an issue. My son was quite apprehensive at the beginning, but those tighter points were very short lived, and he then got very interested in seeing the structures in the caverns. Our guide was great at distracting him with interesting things to see. The overwhelming majority is large caverns and easy walking. One somewhat steep staircase, but there is a guardrail.

Absolute brilliant day out from start to finish. Modern comfortable vehicle, excellant humorous guide, who could not do enough to ensure the group had the best experience. Cave was a great experience, lunch was delicious, whilst the kayaking was relaxing meandering through the beautiful countryside. 5 stars all the way.

Had an amazing day with Joe and co. Exploring the Chiang Dao cave was an awesome new experience (super cute baby bats). The highlight was the kayaking. Weather was not too hot or sunny that made for a serene paddle. The weather took a bit of a turn with the rain but it only added to the beauty of the river and experience. Joe was a great guide throughout, would recommend to adventurers.

Overall, I enjoyed this tour. It was well organized and easy to communicate with staff- both at the main office before the tour/during briefing as well as during the tour. My favourite part was the kayaking portion whereas the caving was underwhelming. The caving itself was around 1 hour, and my disappointment was not the cave itself but that the guides did not have much knowledge regarding the caves. I asked about specifics of the types of rocks we were seeing, and the only answer I got was something along the lines of “it takes over 50 years to grow 1cm”. The guides were really nice and took pictures, etc, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for- and was largely a self directed tour, looking at the rock formation, instead of an informative tour. I’ve been on other cave tours with guides who had specific information about rock formations, or the cave in particular and stories which happened in the past, so wasn’t overly impressed with caving. However, I thoroughly enjoyed kayaking! The river we went on was very scenic, had a nice slow current so we could enjoy the views, and had a few areas with rapids- which made it more fun/challenging. I would recommend the kayaking 1/2 day portion!

The guides made this tour. They were friendly, welcoming, FUNNY, knowledgeable, helpful, and everything else. They taught us about wildlife along the river, culture, and language. The place they took us for lunch was AMAZING—so authentic (photo below). Highly recommend this company.

The things that the other reviews don’t tell you which may be handy to know. The van ride there is about an hour and 45 minutes. It was over 2 hours coming back due to the tragic. The cave floor can be quite slippery. You an certainly bring 2 different types of shoes if you don’t want to get you sneakers wet. There is a place to get changed before and after kayaking so you don’t need to wear bathers into the cave.

Dec 2018 • Family
Travelled on 23 Dec 2018 with 2 young kids 9 year old and 11 year old. Both guides Joe and Jane aka Jenifer Lopez are very humorous and fun going people. They were taking good care of us, bring us around to interesting spots in the cave and gave us some good introduction on the places we visited.

This is 1st caving and kayak experience for both of my kids. They were not worried or afraid of the darkness of the cave as well as kayak in the river. Partly due to the guides taking good care of them, also the river was calm with occasional mild rapid which is suitable for 1st timer.

The hotel pickup brought us to the office at old city area to have some safety briefing, introduction of the area, made payment for river fee and collection of life jacket. Do inform them if you need a single or double kayak there and for us, we requested 2 double kayaks to carry 1 adult and 1 child. We were then set off to the Chiang Dao cave in a minivan. It was about 1~1.5 hr of minivan transfer from old city to the cave. We spent about 40 mins in the cave with a little hike to view the stalactite and stalagmite formation. Some formations were interesting as the structure resemble an elephant, rooster and etc. The guide will provide a torch light for each and there will be a local guide with pressure lamp to bring us deeper into the cave. A nice adventure for the kids so far.

After caving, we had a simple lunch at nearby coffee shop. We were served with Pad Thai and if you prefer soup base meal, you may request for khao soi instead (soup noodle which you can add chilli for additional spiciness).

After lunch, we transferred to the river in minivan. The kayaks were there at the starting point. Some briefing on how to paddle for the 1st timer. Jane helped us to carry the kayak to the river and helped us board the kayak. We were practicing the strokes for a while before going down stream. The river was calm, shallow and peaceful. The scenery and the weather was just perfect that day. Occasionally may brushed on the bushes at the bank, caught between logs and stuck on the river bed due to low water level but can be easily maneuvered and it was part of the fun. My kids learnt how to paddle and we let them steer the kayak while we were taking pictures and video at the back seat.

There was only one occasion where most of us capsize. There was a step and when passing by, the current will push our kayak back and parallel to the step and there was where the kayak will flip and throw us out of the kayak. The water level there was deeper and may need to swim to the side of the river which is shallower in order get back on the kayak with the help of the guides. I was worried that my kids will be panic but they were in fact having fun and enjoyed the swim in the river. Joe jokingly told us that we can now claimed that we had kayak before. I agreed with him as this was part of the fun especially for my kids. The duration in the river was around 1.5~2 hr. A reminder to waterproof your mobile phone and loose items need to be securely fasten eg. spectacles and slippers to prepare for these unforeseen circumstances.

We enjoyed this trip very much. Thanks to Joe and Jane for their great work and we really appreciated that and you had made our trip a memorable one.

We were picked up promptly at 8.30, 5 minute drive to the shop where we were fitted with life jackets and briefing on the day. About a 2 hour dl at the caves, given torches and our guide had a gas lamp. I've visited a few cave systems, but this was by far my favourite. Well worth a look. Stayed in the village for a tasty lunch and then about a 20 minute ride to out kayaking stop. We were given very comprehensive guidance and away we went. This part of the tour was about 90 mins, I could have done longer. Quite a long drive back, but well worth it. If I returned, I would defo do it again!!

The trip was just great!

The pace was relaxed at the caves and we had enough time to take it all in. The caves are amazing. The guide was good and friendly as well.

After the visit to the caves the lunch was all set and it was good.

After the lunch we went to the location we we would start the kayak tour. The instructions were good and easy to understand.

Once you get in the water you have to find your balance and show that you know how to turn and 'eddy out'. The tour lasted for around 3 hours straight and it was very fun to do.

After all, like i said in the beginning: The trip was just great!
