Sampling Hanoi’s many delights with Brian
Day one in Hanoi and we were hot, bothered and overwhelmed but Brian magically steered us through this chaos with information about Vietnam’s history and culture as well as taking us to what seemed like dozens of restaurants and street stalls. Brian was able to explain the cooking processes and ingredients of the extensive array of dishes we tried. He tailored the tour to our food preferences to ensure we were comfortable with his menu choices. He’s also a great conversationalist, so after my wife finished with the foodie questions we were able to cover many other topics while sampling Hanoi’s many delights. I don’t know how we kept eating, drinking and walking for nearly four hours but we did! It was a great night out.

Food Tour - Hanoi with Lien
Lien was wonderful. Communicative, pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. She customized the tour to our preferences and took us to places that we would not have otherwise known to select - as they were all very local. Would do it again!

      Amazing experience, great food
Hoa took us to places we would never have seen, leave alone dared to try to order food, she told us all about life in Vietnam, taught is some Vietnamese words, and challenged us to try everything. What a great way to learn about the food culture in Hanoi, and all explained with passion and energy.

A fun way to spend an afternoon in Hanoi
Upon arriving in Hanoi we wanted to immerse ourselves into the food and culture of this vibrant city and a food tour with Anne was the perfect way to achieve our goal! Anne was great and funny and chatted to us like we were old friends. She explained a few spots along the way to try a range of Hanoi specials and shared her knowledge and passion for Hanoi. It was great fun and we were all so full after the tour! Anne also was very good to accomodate a food allergy for one of our group and made sure to check at each stop. I wish we had more time in Hanoi so I could go on more tours with Anne! We all had a great time and would recommend this tour with Anne to anyone wanting a great local experience of Hanoi’s delicious food options!

      Excellent tour with Lien
We had such a great experience with Lien. We really enjoyed trying all the local food and drinks. We would have never found or discovered anything without her! Not only does she have great experience with food but also history! We talked about many subjects and really enjoyer our time. I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed! I have done other food tours via other sites and this was by far the best.

      A culinary delight
We enjoyed a lovely morning with Manh. Before our tour she provided us with a variety of options to eat, details of where to meet her and the best means of getting there. It is about 40 minutes by car. We then enjoyed a stroll around the local market and the different fields, where she explained the various crops and how each might be used in different dishes. Preparing the meals was fun and certainly made me as a non cook realise how much more preparation goes into Vietnamese cooking. Everything was beautiful. I have never had pineapple in my soup before but like everything else it tasted perfect. Manh was a most gentle and very gracious host. We highly recommend for anyone wanting a genuine experience.

      Good Vietnamese street food experience
Hoa willingly accommodated our big group of 16 people and even extended our tour time since it is slower moving about with our big group and upon our request, she patiently waited for us to be ready because we had to finish our hotel arrangements. Hoa is friendly, easy to talk to and speaks English well. She took us around 6 hidden & authentic local dining places we wouldn't have discovered. We especially liked the pho, various desserts and fried shrimp fritters. We also had a taste of the creamy egg coffee from the original place where it was created (Cafe Dinh), banh mi, fresh spring roll, and various fried food. Along the way, Hoa pointed out places of interest. Overall, it was a good introduction to Vietnamese street food in places where locals eat.

      Not Anne from Arrested Development
Anne was super knowledgeable about many topics (not just the food) and wildly enthusiastic about all the foods we sampled (as well as being an authority on US and UK tv) - had a great time and highly recommend!

      Great cooking class experience!
Great experience! We got a tour of the farmers markets, where Manh explained what goes on in a day to day in Vietnam, and we also got a tour of her vegetable farm by her home. She got us to help her cook some delicious traditional vietnamese food which was so fresh and tasted amazing! Would recommend to anyone wanting to immerse themselves in vietnamese culture! We also originally booked for 4 people, one of our group couldnt make it last minute and Manh was kind enough to refund her :)

      Spectacular Hanoi with Lien
The food tour was first in our itinerary, and what a way to welcome us to Hanoi! There is nothing like food with Lien to make us fall in love with this city in all its vibrance and zest. Lien was knowledgeable and a thorough professional. And what we love about her even more was she loved this city and wanted us to see it through her eyes. She took us to places we never would have known or tried. Lien tells the most hilarious stories too. She’s a great listener and an incredible conversationalist. Really– what a spectacular welcome to Hanoi. Thank you, Lien! And we hope to see you in the future.

      Walking street food tour
We met Lien at the designated area and after introductions she proceeded to take us to places we probably wouldn’t have stopped at. The food was delicious, the explanation of why she chose the location and how the food is prepared were above our expectations. Lien conducted the tour at a lovely place and was flexible to some of our requests. At the conclusion we had eaten our selves stupid & certainly didn’t bother with dinner that evening. Lien is a legend & I’d certainly go on one of her tours again.

      Delicious! Customized! Delightful!
What an excellent way to spend time in Hanoi and open us up to so much more of the wonderful world of street food and culture there. Lien was excellent! Prompt, efficient, friendly, responsive, informative, fun… I could go on! We covered a lot of ground and ate really well. I was worried it would be too much food or too heavy, but she had us try the perfect amount and it was a lot of fresh, light food too, which suited our preferences. I don’t drink alcohol so she made sure to take us to a local juice bar for a special Vietnamese beverage in addition to the refreshing beer for my boyfriend. We discovered new favorite foods and got tips on trying others. Lien is a fantastic guide! So good in fact we booked her for the Hidden Gems city tour a few days later.

      Ruby’s food tour rocks
Highly recommend Ruby as a tour guide. Our food tour was terrific. Ruby customized the tour to exactly what we had hoped to get out of a food tour of a country we have never been to. As we walked from one location to the next she would also give us a history lesson.

Thoroughly enjoyed this private tour. Tuyen really took time to show
and tell about the city of Hanoi and answered many random questions
with much patience (and great English). We would never have seen some
of the places he took us to. We will definitely choose withlocals at
    our next stop.

" Thanh was a stellar host. To tell the truth, we were not sure we would enjoy this tour and thought about canceling. Not because of the host, but because we wondered if we were going to be doing a touristy cookie cutter tour. We couldn't have been more surprised and pleased. This tour was unique and special. Thanh arrived at the hotel because we opted to take a taxi instead of using public transportation. A short taxi ride later we had left The city and entered the suburbs of Hanoi. Our first stop was on the outskirts of town. The shop and factory tour began. Thanh explained the process, showed us each individual step. We watched the artists hand paint all the intricate pictures onto the pottery with colored glaze. It was awesome and entrancing. The talent of the artists brings you back to when true artisans created their products. Thanh described the symbolism for all the figures, fruit, and flowers, what they mean to the Vietnamese people, and how the symbolism was an important part of Vietnamese superstition. We then went to the main part of town and walked past the shops there Thanh pointed out different types of pottery, how they were made for mass market and why/who buys these products. More interesting history and stories along the way. Next stop was at the shop of an exclusive artist who bucked the trend to create his own type of pottery. His glazing techniques were very different and his home a true artistic feast for the eyes. The artist's proud father shared a cup of rice liqueur he made with my husband. We then toured the village kiln, ate bun cha and toured the village itself. All this time Thanh entertained us with wonderful cultural tidbits and stories of the village. Our biggest surprise was a visit to a family home. 4 generations of family, house and Vietnamese history. The lovely Grandmother hosted us and told us about her French built home and the 16 homes that used to exist beside it. A true peek into the life and history of a family and how it was affected through the wars and changes of Vietnam. Thanh is a warm and fun guide full of great information, cute stories and history. Her English is fluent to the point that her vocabulary may be better than the average American! :) Whatever tour she hosts, take it, you won't regret it. "

Thanh had a very rich English vocabulary and painted a visual picture of her country's culture. She is very knowledgeable about the historical facts. She is a very intelligent guide and put together a
clever tour around the city, including some unique experiences that we will never forget. She was happy to show as much as we wanted to see, the real Hanoi! We wish you a very happy New Year, Thanh.

Thanh was not able to guide us due to last min urgency but she is able
to inform me in advance and arrange a replacement guide, Tea. Tea is
very friendly and share a lot of local information with us. The tour
is well paced and we manage to visit the pottery village and even
hosted by a local family for some tea and snack. There is some
miscommunication between the delivery staff and the hotel concierge
when they try to deliver the pottery production that we did during the
visit but Thanh is able to sort it out for us and deliver the items to
us before we left Hanoi. Highly recommend the service.

We did a 2.5 hour walking tour of the Hanoi old town with Hoa from with locals. It was fantastic. She was very energetic and informative. We were traveling with our 8 and 11 year old kids and she did a great job of recognizing their needs and interests, but at the same time gave my wife and I some good historical perspectives and information. She was very helpful in providing good information about the meet up spot and was available and open to questions and other city suggestions via WhatsApp. I booked several tours withlocals while in Vietnam and I would highly suggest using Hoa as a guide in Hanoi.

My brothers and I love soccer and getting to play with some locals in
Hanoi was a great way to play a sport we love and connect with the
Vietnamese people. Hang arranged everything perfectly - from our
meeting and drop off locations, the transportation, the soccer games
on nearby fields, to the delicious sticky rice with chicken
afterwards. Hang's son was a lot of fun to hang out with too and we
learned a lot about life for young people in Hanoi! This is definitely
a great activity if you like soccer and want to get some exercise and
hang out with local people in Hanoi

We had a lovely day with Julie. We started the day with an exercise class by the lake, walked around the city, visited the market, ate like a local and learned lots of things we wouldn't have otherwise known. Unfortunately, heavy rain meant that we wimped out of the bike ride (unlike the locals) but we still had a great day. Julie is lovely. Very easy to speak to and very knowledgable

I spent a great afternoon walking around Hanoi with Jenny. Not only did I get to know the city and some of the main sights, but what was nice about this one-on-one tour was that we also had time to chat and get to know each other. It was nice to have someone showing me around the city who knows her way around, making it easy to get a feel for Hanoi without having to do any planning or figuring out the map. I learned a lot in the 3 hours with Jenny and we finished the tour with a delicious Egg Coffee at a cool cafe that I don't think I would've found on my own.

I would highly recommend that anyone coming to Hanoi should consider a walking tour of Nghia Tan with Huong. Huong is the perfect person to guide you through a district that is indicative of how the majority of people in Hanoi live. She is very passionate about telling the story of the ongoing redevelopment of Nghia Tan and takes you on a journey from a teahouse of the past to the wet/dry market that caters for the needs of the locals. A stop at a very beautiful pagoda and views of the "tiger cages" used to extend apartment space were some of the other highlights. Huong is obviously a very community minded person and so knowledgeable about the area. It was certainly a privilege to meet her. And, after the tour, you can walk a few more steps and visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. It makes for a perfect day.

Hoa’s Village was only 7 miles away but about 25 minutes by motorcycle and she encouraged me to meet her there. I booked my first grab motorcycle with a little bit of help from the hotel staff. With my green helmet and mask on, I claimed on board and off we went. I noticed Hoa right away at the market and she's definitely a professional and classy young independent woman. I already I like her a lot with her beautiful smile and welcoming words. She was raised in middle Vietnam, lived a third of her life in Ho Chi Minh and now has finished living a third of her life in Hanoi working. She is a facilitator for groups of travelers who travel to Hanoi and are engaged in programs. Smart and curious and definitely loving her country, she is the perfect guide for me today. I have paid for two hours but she encourages me to stay with her as we share cultures and visions and examples of how we live our lives which are parallel in many ways. She provides and insightful views of her village that are charming, informative through her lens and I treasure her for her generousity. At the close of a memorablel adventure, With several big hugs, I say goodbye to Hoa but I will never forget her.
