About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kennethw9850 contributionsNice two days spent out of HanoiOur two days could not have been more different. The first day, with pick up from Hanoi, transfer to the various sites and drop off at our homestay was like perfect clockwork and our guide knew his business. Second day.. firstly we were forgotten by our transfer pickup and spent an anxious hour trying to figure out what to do. The bus eventually found us but this already put the day well behind. Cave of early man was great, we then spent a VERY long drive out to a forest sanctuary where our large group slowly shuffled along a very muddy and uninteresting trail to see nothing in particular. Lunch was good then another very long drive to the monkey sanctuary. A short stop there then back on the bus for another very long drop off at Tram An to be forgotten again then eventually transferred back to Hanoi. Our guide on this day was a really nice guy but he was super nervous and his English was poor at best. Not his fault though. My advice..stick to the one day trip or this tour needs to drop the forest section. It was a waste of precious time for nothing particularly interesting.Written 13 November 2024

- shalmalis20160 contributionsGood tour but forced to tip by the tour guideThe view is amazing.the biking is pleasant . However coming to the boat ride.Everything was prepaid but the boat operator asked us to buy snacks so we obliged.Since it takes a long while to row. Later while reaching the bay area the boat operator forced us to tip him to which we replied we would once we get off. So as promised we tipped him.Our tour operator Mr.Minh said 5000 won't buy him anything we should tip more...hence we shelled out 4000 more as that was the only cash we were left with...to which he said this would hardly buy him anything..but my question to all this is...is the customer responsible for well being of the staff or is the company responsible for giving them a fair wage..also tipping should be done according to once means not as per the happiness of the receiver. The whole incident was truly disrespectful.Written 25 September 2023
- SeanU530 contributionsGreat one day tour of Hà LongGreat tour. Phong was great. Everything was so beautiful. Boat ride was smooth. The caves were my favorite part of the day.Written 28 July 2023
- Mattapansfinest0 contributionsGreat Tour of Ha Long BayBooking was easy. I made reservations to see Ha Long Bay the night before and the operator promptly sent me a message via Whatsapp and email to confirm. I was picked up at my hotel and bought to a central location in the Old Quarter and was picked up in a bus with other passengers. Bus was full but not crowded or cramped. The tour operator explained the itinerary engaged the group in light conversation before the roughly 2 hour bus ride. The ride includes a stop at a rest area for snacks before reaching the cruise port. The cruise port is very crowded as numerous tours are embarking at the same time. We were guided to our cruise where it was roughly 30-50 guests on a boat with 2 floors. First floor consists of assigned tables, a bar area and bathrooms. Upstairs is an open air deck with lounge chairs. Boat never felt crowded, plenty of room to move around. The tour included numerous stops including Ti Top island (where you can either swim at the small beach or climb 250 plus steps to see spectacular views of Ha Long Bay. Additional stops included Kayaking and visiting a large cave. The tour itself was wonderfully done, very informative, great host, plenty of time at each stop. My only complaint has nothing to do with the tour operators. Ha Long Bay is noticeably polluted with plastics so I chose not to swim. Also the crowds (during summer months) were huge so there were often lines at each place. The tour itself was well done and I would recommend to anyone.Written 25 July 2023

- Dharm_R0 contributionsRow Row your boatA trip full of fun n adventure Started day early from Hanoi & was transferred to Hoa Lu after 3 hours On the way you will take a pause at some neatly maintained Rest & Relax facility & you will also be guided for some local products Once you are at Hoa Lu you will be directed to Dancing Cave side wherein normally u will have two choices either to go for tracking or cycling You can also get bike . Cycle for around 30-45 minutes in the country side You will be passing through lotus ponds & villages which is quite exciting Thereafter move to Temple side In Vietnam temples are basically a memorial places Here there are 2 temples of 2 ancient kings who shaped Vietnam as a country in 10th century Visitors are not supposed to wear short dresses Bit don’t worry robes are available free of cost which your guide will give you to wear Normally after there you will be taken for lunch break which is buffet & having varieties however vegans will struggle After that most exciting & adventurous piece of the journey comes I.eThe boat tour The 45 mts boat tour in the river is mesmerising The boats are sailed by boat person normally they are females & it is sailed by not by hands but by legs Very labour intensive The sight is worth seeing as the boats sails through the river under caves near mountains Very scenic & enjoyable There are no if good resorts Bungalow Tom Coc caught my eyes On the return journey pls pay tips to boat person as a mark of your gratitude to hard labourWritten 24 June 2023
- Jack M0 contributionsGreat experienceExactly as described. When compared to a 5 star Ha long bay experience with the ‘limousine’ travel from another company, the experience on this tour was a lot better. Tang was a great tour guide - giving interesting info about the places we drove through without being too much. He kept us to schedule really well and adapted to the changing traffic to do this. Nice pagoda visit at the beginning. In contrast to our other tour - this tour wasn’t trying to up sell throughout (or at all). Normal tour bus not anything fancy but had A/C. The bike ride was excellent - really beautiful and good length. Not physically demanding. Brief stretch of road at the end with more traffic was a little bit dangerous. Providing helmets would be useful. The food wasn’t bad for the overall tour price. The boat ride was really long - maybe around 1 hour 45 mins with a rower! Great scenery including caves with low ceiling that you go through. Could make this a little shorter for more time at the final part of the tour. Not asked for tips like I read for other locations like tam coc although I did as the poor woman worked so hard. The steps on the last part of the tour to the view point would be physically difficult for some people particularly to do in the allocated time - more time here taken from the boat ride would be great. Lots of great photo opportunities throughout. Surprised it’s not got more reviews on Tripadvisor as genuinely really good value and the best experience on our trip so far.Written 30 April 2023
- s442528030 contributionsAmazing day in Ninh BihnAfter the initial mix up with the hotel pick-up, we had an amazing day in Ninh Bihn. The tour includes a visit to the local temple, an easy 30 min bicycle ride, an hour boat ride to the caves and a steep hike to the local peak. Sophia our guide did an amazing job sharing some stories on Vietnamese history and giving us some insights on local customs. We really enjoyed the tour and it's highly recommended if you're visiting Northern Vietnam.Written 26 April 2023
- Laryadi K0 contributionsResponsible TourI book this trip on 29th march. And Actually we have a good experience with this trip. But at that time we had some quite bad experience with the tour guide. But due to the very good response from Tony Hoang (owner) and also Trinh. They both said apologies for it. And they handle the problem very serously So I decided to change the star and write down another review..anyway it didnt change my love for Hanoi. And I will book another tour from this tour for another visitWritten 3 April 2023
- Patric D0 contributionsNot good on a wet dayWell the scenery is great, even when th clouds are ow and and it is very wet. But I was not that impressed with the samoan ride. It is linda fun to be rowed up the river and then back, but you do have to remember to duck when you go through some of the caves!! But is was quite uncomfortable on a hard bench with no back-rest and it was raingin quite steadily, so we were very, very wet by the time we got back to the starting point. Different, but not that enjoyable.Written 31 March 2023
- Kim B0 contributionsAmazing experienceThe boat ride down the river through the caves was amazing. We also took a bike ride through the countryside before lunch which was fun. It was misting and we were provided w ponchos which worked well to keep from getting soaked. The lunch that was provided wasn't the greatest but that did not detract from t the rest of the excellent day.Written 29 March 2023

We were lucky enough to book a day trip with Victor to Ninh Binh. He collected us from our hotel bang on time and during the 2hr 30min journey entertained and educated us in equal measure. Victor gave us a fascinating insight into the Vietnamese people, their history, culture and approach to life.
Upon arriving at Ninh Binh the day was very well structured with cycling, followed by lunch, a 1 1/2 hrs boat ride and then the climb up to Lying Dragon Mountain
We were given the perfect amount of time for each activity and Victor made sure we had a constant supply of fresh cold water, essential as it’s fair to say you sweat a lot in Vietnam.
Victor provided useful information on how much to pay for items, appropriate tips and how to behave.
We returned back to our hotel 11.5hrs later .
Overall the trip was well organised, the driver was excellent getting us there and back safely and in comfort, and Victor was superb. The whole day was very good value for money and would recommend to anyone considering a trip to Ninh Binh. Thank you for a great day

As any English-speaking Guide can tell
They speak slowly in simple English, have hats, umbrellas and kappa on hand, and if you ask for water you can get nearly four per person. Even when the bus ride was long and my phone ran out of juice, it was great to have the cords down.
Just take me to a place where you can show me.
Please note that there are places where you can only enter tank top NG or pants that are below the knee. If you had the y-shirt open until about the fifth button, I think you should be careful just the length of the sleeve because you put it in.
We can only thank you for dropping us off at the Recommendation restaurant at the end of the tour.
You have to tip when you go on a boat on tour, but if you give them about 100.000 they drop you off with a smile.
The tour I took on this trip to Vietnam was also definitely on the way, and I stopped by a souvenir shop,
In many cases, national accreditation
There were many people who spoke Japanese and the shop was clean and the staff wore uniforms, so there was no trouble. I think there is a good chance that this tour is also probably certified.
The staff recommends coffee, lotus tea, star rubies and other gems as souvenirs.
Personally, I would recommend musk cat coffee.
I just want to set a higher price instead of peace of mind 💦
If you say "still down" or "still good" in Japanese, they will give you a discount of about 1 or 2, depending on the amount of souvenirs you bought and the total price, although there will be light resistance.
Try your best to cut the price.
This time, I was able to get my shopping down to about 40,000 yen. (I hope I still got it? 💦) I think the Guides in Vietnam will enjoy it because there are so many very good people.

It is a great day trip to Ninh Binh.
Activities: Bus ride to Ninh Binh while the tour guide give us some historical knowledge about Vietnam.
Then cycling on bikes from restaurant to the next historical location/site. You will encounter local "photographers" along the way who will take pictures of you cycling and then try to sell it to you later. I was shocked that they were able to find me from the sea of other tourists, but then again they did have my picture. My tour guide said the "fair price" for the pictures are between 20-25K Viet dong and when they approach you later to sell you the pictures, it is already printed out and laminated. Pictures itself is overexposed, but a laminated picture of myself for 20K to prevent it from ending up in a landfill is not a bad deal.
From there we cycled back to the restaurant and had a buffet lunch. Afterwards we went to enjoy a leisure boat ride, luckily there is a boat rower, so all we had to do is sit back and enjoy. The views are *chef's kiss*, but this is like my first time overseas in a long time so you might not be as impressed as I am, but it is definitely a solid 8/10. The weather also plays a huge part and we went on a sunny day with clear blue sky which definitely boosted the scenes, but at the cost of heat of course. We were provided with umbrellas, courtesy of the tour so there's that for the heat problem. Decided not to attach any pictures because no spoilers HAHA but trust me, its pretty good scene.
After the approximately 1.5 hour boat ride, we were bussed to the last destination, a hike to climb the 200m tall mountain that we lazed pass in the boat ride. Once again, gorgeous view and solid 8/10. The climb up is definitely not easy. Its doable, but not easy. Bring plenty of water and if you have an insulating bottle, bring ice water with you. It is very needed.
There is also a lily filled field that is extremely picturesque and a perfect background.
That is the last activity of the day and its farewell soon after.
Overall, 10/10 would recommend to do at least once if you have no idea of what to do.
What to bring: Lots of water (iced and insulated if possible) and sunscreen.

The trip went fairly well. We had a punctual driver. The tour guide was a tad useless. Hardly any information with the exception of a brief story about the kings before the temple then proceeded to overload the bus with continued repeat of the itinerary. No data about the areas, what the land use is, how it’s changing etc etc. to be honest I expected more enthusiasm and a lot more content.
Be warned the price you pay is excluding tips. The tour guide made a revaluation that the boat rowers only get paid 2000dong for 1.5 hours of rowing :o and rely on tips which the tourists are expected to pay at 50k-100k dong minimum. The tourists also get pestered to buy food on the river and by the photographers who charge on top. The driver also needs tipping as do the bathroom attendants and restaurant servers and the tour guide himself etc hopefully you get the drift. Don’t generally mind tipping but not when the people are so damn forward about it and constantly telling the group about tips. It’s a system issue. It does then raise the question as to what the cost of the trip actually includes.
The food was ok. Mediocre at best. Buffet reminded us of an all ‘you can eat affair’ one gets in England. Overcooked and kinda bland. Drinks were of course on top.
The bicycles were mostly broken. Never seen any service and for anyone above 5’6” they are next to no good. The seat could not be raised, if it could it was very short. Brakes were hardly functioning. To be frank I saw no point to bicycling around a dirt track for 10 mins. The views on the river are superior and trump the cycle trip.
The views from the top of the mountain were good.
Overall it just felt like the reviews and the description sells one a dream but the reality is far from it. It’s worth doing but if you have access to a scooter or a car do it yourself and save the trouble. Most destinations are 1.5 hours ride away from Hà Nội. The entry costs are between 100k-150k dong to each place. Lunch- there are plenty of places and at 1mil dong one would feast!

It’s difficult to adequately describe how good this tour was. From confirmation of booking we were kept informed of important details, including pickup times and locations. The bus turned up right on time and from the outset Victor, our tour guide, was engaging and passionate about his culture and heritage. Each stop included knowledgeable commentary and friendly pointers to make our experience more meaningful. The bus driver was also skilled, making light work of the sometimes chaotic Hanoi traffic. This is a must do tour!

We had a great time in Ninh Binh made possible by Victor. It was great to get out of the city for the day, learn about Vietnamese history and culture from our guide victor and see the beautiful temples and breathtaking landscape of Ninh Binh. highly recommend taking this trip, it’s 2 hours of of the city, transportation was easy comfortable and air conditioned. A stop we will be recommending to friends visiting Northern Vietnam.

The Ninh Binh tour, it was truly a day filled with unforgettable moments and enriching activities.
The tour was exceptionally well-organized, starting with a comfortable bus ride from Hanoi to Ninh Binh. The itinerary included three exciting activities: cycling, boat riding through the Tam Coc caves, and hiking up 500 steps to the majestic Dragon Mountain. Each activity offered a unique perspective on the beauty and history of the region.
One of the highlights of the tour was our visit to the ancient capital of Vietnam, where we immersed ourselves in the rich heritage of the country. The boat ride through the Tam Coc caves was a mesmerizing experience, and the hike up Dragon Mountain provided breathtaking views.
The delicious lunch provided during the tour was a delightful surprise, with a variety of options to choose from. As a vegetarian, I particularly appreciated the thoughtful inclusion of vegetarian dishes, which added a positive twist to the meal.
Our guide, Victor, was an invaluable source of knowledge, sharing insightful historical facts as well as cultural insights, traditions, and life skills of the Vietnamese people. His engaging narrative helped me better understand the way of life, patriotism, and pride of the local community. I thoroughly enjoyed his talk and found it both educational and entertaining.
Victor’s professionalism, intelligence, kindness, and sense of humor made the tour even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable and enriching experience.
Despite the rainy weather, the tour remained engaging and captivating. The interactive discussions and physical activities kept us engrossed, and before we knew it, the day had flown by. The rain did not dampen my spirits, thanks to the fascinating experience and the wonderful company.

Great tour. Varied activities from cycling to the temple, special boat ride and a stair hike for wonderful views of city and landscape.
Victor was our guide and was very knowledgeable, giving us history of the region and colourful descriptions of past and current lifestyle of the Vietnamese peoples. One star off for the lunch, which was not kept well heated, but that is not the tour operators responsibility.
Would highly recommend this tour as very orientated to customer satisfaction.
It was a very positive experience.

Amazing Tour with a Fantastic Guide!
Our group from Canada had an incredible experience on this tour! Victor, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights into Vietnam’s history during the bus ride. The day was well-organized, with four unforgettable activities: a scenic bike ride, a captivating pagoda tour, a relaxing boat ride, and a delicious local lunch.
There are many tour options in the area, but this one truly stands out for its thoughtful itinerary and exceptional guide. If you’re visiting Vietnam and looking for a memorable, authentic experience, we highly recommend booking this tour!

Are Tam Coc/ Trang Am boat rides kid friendly? I have a 3 year old toddler. Will it be comfortable for him or would it be too sunny for a 2-3 hour ride?

If you have already booked through a trip advisor, you can click into the booking and there is an option for you to send a message to the tour company. I was able to communicate with them through a trip advisor portal weeks before our trip. Also, the booking company is easytours24h and you can go to there website and get their email. I can't post emails in review post but that's how I confirmed if they do pick up at my hotel at Somerset Hanoi before booking.
otherwise, like X8663QOhannahd said, they will whatsapp you weeks or days before the tour date.
Most bookings have full refund, so you can choose either method above.

You can skip the steep climb or the big walk by telling the tour guide where to rest. For bicycling, I know some Caucasian choose to relax at the lunch hotel; at the MuaCave, there are plenty of flat areas (no need to climb the 500steps to Dragon top hill), with plenty of coconut refreshment (you need to buy though); just don't drink too much that you need to find washroom after.

Can we join this trip from ninh binh as we will be staying there?

We started from Hanoi and a bus collected us from different parts of the city to take us to Ninh Binh, so I guess they can maybe collect you there too if you arrange a meeting point with them. I suggest you to ask them, they are very helpful and give quick responses via whatsapp.

Hello, I am staying at the intercontinental hotel - West Lake. Can you please pick us up from there? If you do we will book. Thanks

If you look at the hotel list at the bottom of the reservation, please be careful. I was told the portal puts all/most of the hotels in that list even hotels that will not be in their pick up route. If your hotel is in the old quarter they will pick you up for sure.
I specifically reach out to them and asked if they pick up at the Somerset Hanoi which is at the boarder/just outside of the old quarter and they confirm they can pick me up.
