- Edeck870 contributionsWhen you selected smaller group - know what you’re gettingThe guided tour was good, the guide ( Lu) was fabulous!! Very informative and caring. However, my low rating was attributed to the minivan transport for this “smaller group” pay “extra” deal, was a disappointment !! I probably would’ve felt more comfortable sitting in larger bus with my Own seat instead of sharing an edge seat with a ‘not so skinny’ couple in my row. Unfortunately, I was the last person picked up in morning so I had no choice just to sit there!! It was 2.5 hours each ride and wasn’t happy about it.Written 11 February 2025

Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta - Boat, Tuk Tuk Small Group Tour
Tour Guide: Toan
I had an incredible experience on the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta tour! Toan, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging throughout the entire day. He provided detailed explanations about the history and significance of the Cu Chi Tunnels, making the visit both educational and moving.
The Mekong Delta portion of the tour was equally enjoyable. Riding in a traditional boat and exploring the area on a tuk-tuk gave a real sense of the local culture and lifestyle. Toan ensured everyone in the group felt included and answered all our questions with patience and enthusiasm.
The small group size made the tour more personal and enjoyable, and the itinerary was well-paced, allowing enough time at each stop without feeling rushed. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City, and if you’re lucky to have Toan as your guide, you’re in for a treat!

We had an incredible experience visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels and cruising along the Mekong Delta, all thanks to our fantastic tour guide, Phong. From start to finish, Phong’s positive attitude and warm personality made the day unforgettable.
Phong is not only highly knowledgeable about Vietnamese history and culture, but he also has a great sense of humor that kept us entertained throughout the tour. He shared fascinating stories and insights about the Cu Chi Tunnels, making the history truly come alive. His willingness to answer all our questions and share personal anecdotes gave us a deeper appreciation for Vietnamese culture and traditions.
The Mekong Delta river cruise was equally amazing, and Phong ensured we felt comfortable and well taken care of the entire time. His enthusiasm and passion for his country were evident, and it was contagious!
If you’re considering this tour, I can’t recommend Phong enough. His professionalism, humor, and knowledge turned a great itinerary into an exceptional experience. Thank you, Phong, for making our visit so memorable!

I would like to start positively, the Cù chi tunnels are really very interesting and give a good representation of what it must have been like during the war. We had a guide who gave a lot of information... especially compared to other guides who were just a little behind.
At the end you are offered the chance to shoot with an M16 or an AK 47, but all this has to be decided and paid for in a nanosecond, you don't even get the chance to take a nice photo.
But what is not mentioned in the description is that beforehand you visit a kind of factory where disabled people make all kinds of articles with duck eggs and shells.
And that after the tunnels you have to spend two hours one way in a van to get to the Mekong Delta, where you are then rowed 500 meters through a ditch by two people and have to listen to the entire journey about how hot it is and how badly they are doing. to have.
That you are then chased around the neighborhood to buy as much as possible, from whiskey with a snake in it to honey and ointments.
And then you come to people who want to photograph you with a snake...... seriously in 2023 is this still an issue?
Cù chi tunnels and the lunch afterwards were really great, but 4 hours back and forth in a van and then being chased through a village like a bunch of morons......we thought that was a shame.
We clearly had different expectations for the Mekong Delta and the way in which we could experience it.
And afterwards the comment from our guide that time is tight and that it is much worse in Thailand, sorry but do not organize such tours for 1 day.
There is really a lot of room for improvement here, and if you give people a little more time, it will certainly benefit the experience.

The tunnel experience was good but would have been a lot better if it hadn’t been rushed. Then the onward trip to the Mekong delta is simply not worth the 4 hrs on a bush to spend 1 1/2 hrs on a small island
And to be asked for tips buy the driver the guide, the singing show and also buy the boat operator is just to much. Be aware also that a thoe some of us got picked up at our hotel we were not dropped back and was told we had to make our way back from the tour office
My advice do a single trip to the tunnels and don’t do a combined trip including the Mekong

The tour at the tunnels was quite cool, but I acknowledge the merit to the quality of the "exhibition" itself. On the other hand, our guide gave us almost no information, except for random disconnected sentences about how bad the war was. But nothing directly relevant to what we were seeing. This was extremely annoying, especially because we noticed other groups had way better-prepared guides.
The worst came in the afternoon in the mekong delta: we were just brought from shop to shop to be asked to buy products, nothing was shown or explained to us. The "traditional music performance" was embarassing: it felt artists were there just to get extra tips (they did expressively ask for it), which is fine, but makes you wonder : where are the money you pay for this tour going to? The same happened for the 5-min boat drive and other activities "shown by locals".
Overall this tour was very bad value for money. I recommend the agency to check (English) speaking skills and quality of contents of *all* their guides and review the itinerary for the afternoon. It would be also nice to be more transparent on how "well" local collaborators are paid for their activities within the tours.

I was very disappointed with the tour. Our guide didn't speak English very well and it meant that the tour was more of a transportation service. Also the places we went were all to support the local people. Have money on you, as we were asked to tip several times throughout the trip (boat rides, folk music, etc). Also the first place we went to, we bought a picture, as we were told it was made by people with disabilites. When we went back into the city we found the same art pieces sold for 1/4 of the price and the seller was telling us that the place they take us to is for show and overpriced. Overall, I would not recommend this tour. I was excited for this trip, but left feeling very disappointed in the experience. One positive though, when I did complain, the people were responsive and understood our frustrations.

The tour was just amazing.
We learned all about the Cu Chi tunnels and experience just a fraction of what it was like during the war getting to walk through one. I don’t know how they did it! The area itself It was very powerful and I’d recommend it’s something everyone experiences so it need not be repeated.
I also had the chance to try out an M16 on the firing range (60,000 per bullet with a 10 minimum) which was well worth it too.
The trip to the delta in the afternoon took us out on the water where we stopped at a couple of islands, drinking from fresh coconuts, eating coconut candy, listening to some traditional music and boating down the river with coconut trees on either side.
Our tour guide, Tim, was not only knowledgeable in sharing historical events and personal stories, but kept us captivated with his witty sense of humour all day and made sure that if any of us had questions or concerns, he’d do his best to make sure we were looked after. Having done many tours over the last decade, Tim is amongst the best guides we’ve had!!

Our guide Tim was one of the best guides we have had during our Vietnam holiday.
Unfortunately the itinerary of the trip was not great. We spent over 6 hours in the bus over the course of the day. Combining the Tunnels and the Mekong in one day is far too much driving in one day. We left at 8am and got home at 8pm. The bus allocated for this trip was not ideal given we spent so long on the bus. Seats were extremely small and very uncomfortable.
I would not recommend this tour with its current itinerary however I would definitely recommend Tim as a tour guide

We booked the full day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta. Phong was very proactive in reaching out early to keep us informed of the pick up time. He was informative, relatable, humorous and kind. His love of Vietnam is evident in how he shares the culture and information with his guests. Our driver was excellent as well. I highly recommend this tour with Kim Travel and especially Phong as your guide.
Ps Just a side note about the Cu Chi tunnels. There is a firing range on the grounds (why is beyond me 😡) but if you are sensible with noise, make sure to bring your noise cancelling headphones or ear plugs.

What time does the full day chi chi tunnels and Mekong delta tour finish?
Written 24 November 2024
As Leo K said, it is about 1.5 hours to Cu Chi. We went to Mekong Delta from there which was another 2 hours and then another 2 hours plus back to Ho Chi Minh. A lot of travelling tbh but worth it👌

Planning on going to the Cu Chi tunnels. If your partner gets claustrophobic but wants to do the other parts of the tour, can they wait on the surface and meet back up for the other parts of the tour? Or do they have to do the tunnels as well

No you don't have to go in the tunnels, they are just a small part of the tour. Most of it is above geounf
