What to expect
  • Meet your guide at your central Tel Aviv hotel or another central location in the city, hop inside your air-conditioned vehicle and set off through the rugged Judean Desert to Masada and the Dead Sea. On route, hear about the region’s ancient past and let your guide know if there’s anything you want to see more of during the day. Since this is a private tour, the itinerary can be adjusted around your particular wishes. Pass by the site of the Inn of the Good Samaritan, the location associated with the biblical parable, and see the ancient city of Jericho in the distance as your guide recounts the Old Testament story of how its walls were felled by the trumpets of the Israelites. Catch sight of the shimmering Dead Sea as you near Masada, the mountaintop fortress-palace built by King Herod in 350 BC. Catch the cable car up to the UNESCO World Heritage site and explore the ruins as you hear tales of Herod and the 960 Jewish zealots who committed suicide here in the 1st century AD to escape besieging Roman forces. View the well-preserved relics of Herod’s chambers and the synagogue constructed by the zealots. Back on the road, pass Ein Gedi oasis and the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947, on route to the Dead Sea. This extraordinary lake sits at the lowest point on Earth—1,312 feet (400 meters) below sea level — and boasts waters that are over 10 times saltier than seawater. Arrive at a Dead Sea resort and get free time to relax at leisure. Take a ‘swim’ in the salt-rich waters and perhaps enjoy a therapeutic mud bath at the world’s richest source of natural salts. Your tour then finishes with a drop-off at your Tel Aviv hotel.

Tour of Masada and Dead Sea
Dec 2019 • Family
Wonderful tour with Sara. She couldn’t have been more engaging and knowledgeable. Only negative is that it was quite expensive even though it was a full day out.

Thanks very much for this complimentary feedback with our professional and knowledgable guide Sara. She sure is worthy of such praise for the professional job she does. Private guided tours provide the ultimate and most personal form of a tour experience to sense enjoy and ,primarily, going at one's own pace and shedule. Indeed the parametres that apply for cost of a private tour ,visiting this spectacular location include the considerable distance traveled,(150kms each way.) The cost is a accumulative calculation of 8-9 hrs with a guide, vehicle -- size of , as well distance travelled. Most important is that you came away with a memorable tour experience to cherish.))

Terrible experience
Dec 2019
My husband and I were in Israel 5 days for my birthday, on December 7, 2019. During our stay we decided to do three tours to visit: Jerusalem, Masada and the Dead Sea, and finally Palestine. For the first three destinations we chose two Bein Harim tours through the brokerage of the website “get your guide”, while for the fourth destination we relied on Abraham tours.

The experience with Bein Harim was really bad, I will list below the reasons for my statement:

- on the day of the first visit we were informed via email that the van would come to pick us up at the hotel (we were in a design hostel) at 7.30am. At 7.40 they called us at the hostel saying that they were waiting for us in another place and urging us to join them because otherwise they would have left without us. Once we arrived at the bus we complained about the change of plans for the meeting point, but we were told that Bein Harim never stopped at our specific hotel (which was a hostel) ... to note that all the others customers were recovered at their hotels. Wasn't our hotel enough to deserve the van to pick us up?

- we were assigned to a guide, a certain Mr. Avi, that I don't think was mentally ok. He told us (to all the tourists taking part in the tour) not to speak during his explanations, in a tone of an elementary school teacher with children. During the explanations also, when we were at the sites, where normally there were also other guides who spoke, he got nervous if he heard the other guides talking and interrupted the description until the other guides left. I and other tourists tried to ask him some in-depth questions, to which he replied with such subtlety and arrogance that he took away from us any desire to ask more.

I would also like to mention this other episode: the day of the visit to Jerusalem, this same gentleman, Mr. Avi, came to recover us in an area close to our hotel to take us to the area where we would change bus and take the van to Jerusalem. Once arrived in the area where we were waiting for the other vans, a lady who had also reserved a tour with Bein Harim, asked to get on the van thinking it was that of her tour. Mr. Avi replied in a super-rude manner "this is not your bus" and he sent her down. Meanwhile it rained a lot outside the van. The lady had only a small umbrella and she returned to wait in the cold and in the rain. A taxi driver who was present there and witnessed the events, came to speak with Mr. Avi, asking him to have the lady repaired while waiting for her van to arrive. At that point, Mr. Avi, with an even more arrogant air, shouted from the window "if you want you can get on, but this is not your van". Appalled by this person's rudeness and arrogance, my husband and I told him that he had to be ashamed of how he had behaved with the lady and that his attitude - as explained in the events described above - was simply unacceptable.

- both Mr. Avi and Mr. Eyal (our guide during the trip to Jerusalem) insisted at the end of each day on the fact that it is a common use in Israel to give tips to the guides and that those would be welcome. Not having given any tip - as in our humble opinion the behavior of the two guides was not to be rewarded - they did not even greet us at the time of departure. No tip was requested by the guides of Abraham Tours, who were really kind, smiling and always available to answer further questions.

In light of all the above, I DO RECOMMEND anyone NOT TO GO ON A TOUR with Ben Harim. It is shameful that operators in the tourism sector, a sector where hospitality, respect and smiles are a must, can work in this way. If they are not able to do their job as it MUST BE they could work on horseracing or agriculture, but not in tourism.

Dear Marta-Bianca-MC, Your have shared a detailed account of varied matters regarding issues, that are not all relevant. NO, we choose where we wish to pick up and if your hostel was not on our list, then it so it is your responsibility to be informed of the specific spot.Your referrals to other guides manner, is not in keeping in all with our guides. We are sorry for what you share regarding Avi. We will have file a report of the days events. It is not in keeping at all with the guides records and reviews on this platform. Gratuities are for the traveler to decide whether to give on the guides merit. This was not the case for you. We are apologize that this offended you. Guides are responsible adults and should certainly act with the appropriate decorum. Bein Harim certainly expects respectable conduct from all their guides and not the behavior you describe. Sincerely, Bein Harim Tourism Services

Had a great day. Thanks to Amir Gelbart
Oct 2019
Amir Gelbart is a great tour guide and provided us a great day to Masada and Dead Sea. He is knowledgable and helpful. During the bus time he gave us a lot of background information about where we were and what happened in history.
My suggestion is to cut some of the time in souvenir store. I could use some more time floating in Dead Sea.

Thanks for this rave review of your tour and guide amir G. He is worthy of this mention for his efforts, sharing interesting commnentary and his tour management. We are happy to read it was a memorable tour experience for you. We do stop at the Ahava factory, world renouned for its products ,but also as a bathroom stop having coming form Tel Aviv. The swim allocation time visit at the Dead Sea is normally 1.5 hrs. Come back soon ,there is lots more to see.

Masada and Dead Sea tour with Daniel Gabriel
I did the Masada and Dead Sea tour from Tel-Aviv on Sept 18, 2019. I got picked up at my hotel around 7:15 am and got on a nice air conditioned bus. Our tour guide, Daniel Gabriel, was exceptional! He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us tons of interesting and pertinent information. I learned so much about the history of the Masada and the Dead Sea. We spent the morning at the Masada, had lunch there, and then went to the Dead Sea, where we floated and applied the exfoliating mud to our bodies. Got back to the hotel around 7ish. I really recommend this trip, especially if Daniel is your guide!

A wonderful day and excellent tour with Yoav Malachi, visiting the River Jordan and the Dead Sea (and a lot of graffiti)
May 2019 • Friends
Our guide had a strong passion for the information he shared about his beloved country and its special history, landscape, communities, people art and graffiti.

He was very professional and helpful.

My mom and I have loved every minute of the time spent together.

We recommend Mr. Yoav's services to our family and all our friends who want to visit Israel. (Yoav Malachi)

Great guide
Zvika was a fantastic guide and the Masada visit was excellent. However I strongly advise you not to visit the Dead Sea with this company. It was dirty and a huge tourist trap. Relaxation in the sea was impossible as there were so many tourist companies there. Avoid!

Dear Judith, We are glad to read that you had an enlightening tour with our guide Zvika. He sure deserves such praise. We are not sure what your expectation was, as the Dead Sea shore we visit, as you saw MOST companies visit this particular shore, as it is one of the very few facilitated ones of the entire region. You mention it as if other companies visit other shores, sorry.but there are not many - just much further south and not on the route. .As you saw, the landscape is, with very little development. and NO access to the seaside. However during this season it is indeed very busy, and it seems you encountered such a day. Bein Harim has NO control whatsoever over visitor overload at locations, as we have to fit the visit in with the tour schedule. Sincerely, Bein Harim Tourism Services team

Massada / Dead Sea
Oct 2018
During mid-October, it is so hot in the desert that is advisable to freeze more than one bottle of water. Once arrived at Massada, one may get fresh water to enjoy the tour and the fortress.
