Highlights
Cover some key La Paz landmarks and neighborhoods in a walking tour
A great way to get your bearings in a sprawling city
Begins and ends close to top La Paz attractions
Morning and afternoon departures available to suit your schedule
What to expect
Make your way to a central location in La Paz, where you meet your guide and small group for a morning or afternoon departure. Start by taking in the historic San Francisco Church, built by early Franciscans, and then browse the colorful stalls at the Lanza and Rodriguez markets. Get a glimpse of Bolivia’s traditional healing and spiritualism in the Witches’ Market, and head to Plaza Murillo to see La Paz Cathedral and the Presidential Palace. Here and throughout the tour, the guide shares stories of La Paz’s history, ancient traditions, and modern-day culture, and you can get insider tips on where to eat, drink, and explore in the city. The tour concludes at a café in the narrow, colonial-era Jaen Street, where brightly painted buildings line the historic cobblestones.

Well paced with small group, great information and very helpful, informative and friendly guide
Sep 2019
We had about 5 hours in La Paz between flights. We walked into a tourist place looking for something we could do in such a short time, and they booked us with Hanaqpacha Travel to do a city walking tour. It was a very last minute booking and we only had a few minutes to get to the meeting location, but the tour guide waited for us, which was so great. It wasn't a large group, so it was great to be able to hear the guide well. He was very relaxed and gave us great insight into the political history of Bolivia, as well as information about La Paz and traditions of the shamans and witch markets. He was informative and answered our questions well. He even helps us at the end of the tour get a taxi and negotiated on our behalf a reasonable charge to safely get us back to the airport for our flight.

Great time!
May 2019
This is literally a year late as my boyfriend just found the card in his jacket. Franklin took us on a tour where we got to visit a lot of cool spots and go into cool stores. He was SUPER friendly and informative, though you do get your steps in! Franklin had great stories and anecdotes to tell. At the end we got a drink of singani and he recommended a great place for lunch. He waved high to us whenever we saw him around La Paz.

City walking tour La Paz
We did this walking tour with the guide Maria, she was very good at explaining and knew the city inside and out. It was a great way to get to know the city and learn more about history, religion and politics. I really recommend this tour!

70% walking 30% explanation
We did a lot of tours this year, maybe 15 and this one was one of the least informative one. The Guide walked really fast although people were having difficulties with the altitude, we raced over a market without any explanation, and the fact that i paid the double price through this platform Than people who just showed up is also confusing... maybe you try the free walking tour...

disappointing tour
Oct 2019 • Couples
We have taken walking tours in many cities. This one was probably the least informative. The group was very large and there were both Spanish and English speaking travelers. The guide spent a lot of time with the Spanish speaking customers but, regardless, we did not feel that the time was used effectively to convey information

I am very sorry you feel this way. We usually divide the group by language but unfortunately with all the problems that we are having and the road blocks we don't have as many guides available and we have to do a bilingual tour. I will keep this in mind and talk to the guides to make sure the information is still good and complete even if the tour is in 2 languages. It would help to know who was your guide so I could talk to them. Thanks for the feedback.

Excellent way to orientate yourself and start to learn about the local culture
Oct 2019 • Solo
This great tour is at an easy pace for those adjusting to the altitude. For me one of the most interesting parts was learning about the traditional culture and Amyara beliefs vua an entertaining visit to a "witch doctor" shop. The flower market was also great to see. The tour continues on to outside the infamous San Pedro prison before taking in government buildings and the pretty Calle Jaen. Out your guide Juan was very informative and easy to ask questions to. Recommended!
