We loved our experience at the cultural cooking class. It was a small, intimate group and the two instructors were very helpful and hands on. We learned to make Roti, Chinese curry (with chicken and potatoes) and coconut tapioca bats for dessert.
Another thing I loved about this cooking school is their social mission which involves hiring women who are seeking employment after raising their children.
Would highly recommend this class as a way to learn about the Singaporean culture and pick up some interesting cooking tips.

I recommend this cultural cooking class to anyone who is looking to learn heritage Singaporean recipes of yummy dishes, explore local culture, learn how to cook authentic dishes, expand knowledge in local spices and have fun. I had such an amazing experience and met a lot of new people! We cooked dishes together split in pairs and then ate what we cooked. Our Chef was Mrs. Teresa, a charming lady with a great sense of humor, very attentive and passionate about cooking. It was a great pleasure to cook under her guidance. I learned amazing recipes, local ingredients which I didn’t know before and I am definitely coming back! As I am looking forward to learn more!! Thank you so much to Daniel, the owner of the business and his Team! You are doing a fantastic job!

Food Playground is aptly named. My class was led by Teresa who really made this class of 4 singletons and a team of 4 so much fun- like kids in a playground though we were all clearly adults. The historical aspect really gives one insight to the what and why certain ingredients were used and the cooking method. This is not a follow the recipe class but one that teaches you the concepts and therefore the reasoning to how the dishes are created. Being a former Chemistry teacher, I was delighted to tie all the background to justify my & my partner’s “work” in creating our truly wonderful lunch. The class was truly a food playground and gives one a taste of the basic foundation of cooking in this world of order online and food delivery.

We had a wonderful tour of Singapore. Covered all the major ethnic areas of the city. Our guide, Holden, is a native with an insider’s experience of the city that he was very willing to share. Answered all questions with local knowledge. The excursion was well paced with refreshment stops along the way. He was well prepared with a first aid kit and ponchos when it started to rain. Worth doing.

We had a wonderful time at Food Playground, where we learned to cook some of the most delicious and authentic Singaporean dishes. Ann (the instructor) was very friendly and helpful, and she explained everything patiently.
We were in a small group of six people, so we had plenty of opportunities to ask questions and interact with each other. We cooked three tasty dishes, some of which we already knew from visiting hawker centers - so it's great to learn how to cook them ourselves! They were all very tasty and we enjoyed eating them at the end of the class. It was a fun and educational experience that we highly recommend to anyone who loves Singaporean food or wants to try something new.
Added bonus is the social cause pursued by the Food Playground!

What a wonderful gustatory experience. Food Playground not only teaches you how to make mouthwatering dishes (we learned how to make nasi lemak, prawn sambal, and kueh dadar), but also provides cultural and historical context about heritage Singaporean cooking. What was really remarkable was the fact that our instructor managed to navigate my partner's capsaicin intolerance with a brilliant recipe substitution that tasted incredible. (Take a class and learn how to make prawn sambal and you'll discover what a feat that is.) And we had a blast working on our crepe techniques for the kueh dadar. I couldn't recommend this class more highly!

Each day is a different menu, today we did Kari chicken (you can check out the menu on their website). Lovely intimate experience with Annie she was amazing! She taught us about the culture and taught us this awesome recipe with the technique to match! Would highly recommend this experience to any foodie living or travelling through Singapore!

Very fun! Annie, Mary and Helen are very experienced and it was a very fun session.
They are also very approachable and friendly and this is for a very good cause, supporting previous stay-home mums build confidence to go back to work, as well as supporting some seniors to stay active

We organised a cooking class for our sales kickoff meeting which included colleagues from all over APAC and we wanted something that could showcase Singaporean food to them and would cut across language barriers and also have some fun. This activity achieves all of that. The ladies guiding us were fantastic and the dishes we made (Laksa, Gula Melaka and Sweet and Sour Pork) tastes exactly like what you would have at a restaurant. Recommended for your next team building exercise and please support this group of lovely ladies!

We had a lot of fun at our cooking class. Helen taught us how to make sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice, together with a green bean soup.
Helen taught us about Singapore cuisine which gave us the confidence after the cooking class to try traditional dishes at hawker centres.
Would highly recommend.

Yes. I have anaphylaxis to pepper and slightly changed the recipe by leaving it out. If you let them know in advance (when you book) of your needs it shouldn't be a problem

I am seeing this correctly???
You upcharge for one person to attend the class, by as much as $15.00 USD; compared to two persons...
I'm not sure I understand why this is - if your minimum number of students is met. Solo travelers shouldn't pay more, simply for traveling 'SOLO'. Unfortunately, I will not book with a company that demonstrates obvious price discrimination!

I booked all my various classes online and exchanged mails of confirmation and information. Foodplayground is very precise: they start at 9.30 and ends after about 3 hours. Others schools (I recommend also Cookery Magic), being held at private homes, may have variable schedules, but very easy to keep in touch with.
Others I had booked, were cancelled at the last minute for lack of participants.
Enjoy the experience !!
