This is a perfect trip if you just want to get your bearings of the city and a little snippet of the main areas of Little India, Chinatown, Botanic Gardens etc. If you are someone who likes to spend time and not feel rushed then this isn’t the trip for you. For us as a young family it was ideal just to get a feel for these areas of the city. I would even recommend even if you want to go back to any of the areas on your own. The kids didn’t moan at the length of it so it cant of been that bad 😁

We visited Little India, Chinatown, the harbour front, the botanic gardens ( beautiful orchids etc. on display here which is a very pleasant garden and has a lovely little gift shop). We also passed the old Raffles Hotel, The guide allowed us about 30-45 mins at each stop to browse at our leisure. Nice trip for those who do not wish to walk too far. Good guide.

Well, the tour and the tour guide were basically good. Good information, good itinerary, but a bit to rushed. Very old bus. The other downside was, that they promoted to pick up guest at most hotels in Singapore. But they don‘t pick you up at all Sentosa Hotels. So be aware of that fact!!!! It will cost you a 20 SGD more for the taxi to Gardens by the Bay (the main pick up point). Other companies pick you up at Sentosa. So you better double check on that....

Picked up promptly and taken to another hotel, we were two parties travelling as one. We waited around before being put on a bigger coach. Sadly the tour guide started on wrong foot when I tried to explain we were two booking but together, her reply was ‘don’t tell me how to do my job!’ Rather rude start.

The stops were good, saw the marina bay hotel, the botanical garden, the temple at Chinatown and little India. However they were really short stops. Little Indian was just a rush through with no time to look around. The temple was great and the botanical gardens, with entry into the orchid garden, sadly not enough time to really enjoy it.

I’d say you’d get more from the hop on/hop off bus.
Ours was included in the package, so that’s why we tried it. The other tour we opted not to do.

We signed up for Viator's Singapore City Tour (run by Tour East - Singapore). Our tour guide, Maggy, was hard to talk to and get any information from. But that was not the worst part.

At the National Orchid Garden Maggy led us about a quarter mile from the bus to the entrance building where she gave us our admission tickets. She gave us no instructions on where to meet after our 40 minutes in the Garden. So I thought (foolishly) that we would see her back at the entrance building. WRONG!!! When we got there almost ten minutes early Maggy was nowhere to be found. When she did not come we tried to find our bus, but got lost in the maze of paths out of the Garden.

We wound up having to take a taxi back to our hotel and missed the rest of our tour. I believe that Maggy is totally unfit to be a tour guide and SHOULD BE FIRED.

Good communications about where we would be picked up from and the time made us think this would be a good tour. Unfortunately the tour did not live up to expectations.

We were only having a 24 hour stop over in Singapore and so from this aspect the tour was good. We got to visit Little India, China Town, The Merlion and the Botanic Gardens which we may have struggled to get around in the time available if we had needed to make our own travel plans. The time at each stop was adequate and as the last stop was the Botanic Gardens where we wanted to stay longer to explore the Orchid Garden (Amazing - a must for any orchid fan) we left the tour here and stayed on.

So that's the good bits of the tour. Now for the bad .....

The guide, whose first language not surprisingly was not English, spoke very quickly and not particularly clearly.

At many of the stops it was fairly obvious that the guide had a commercial arrangement with some of the stall holders as we were clearly led to various establishments and their virtues extolled. If I ever hear another reference to chicken and rice and how wonderful it is I will not be responsible for my actions!

We stopped by the Cenotaph yet neither this nor any of the historic buildings around it got even a mention, let alone knows any historical facts about them. The same went for Raffles Hotel, the cathedral and the Civilian War Memorial.

In fact we heard very little about any of the history of Singapore. We did however hear a huge amount of detail about what I can only consider an eyesore - the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. We weren't interested in how many floors or rooms it had or how much it cost to stay there but that's what we got - in great detail and numerous times.

Was the trip good value for money? Absolutely not.

Tour was an adequate introduction to various tourist spots in Singapore. Our guide was quite good both informative and funny. He was dead serious about being left behind if you did not get back within the allotted time per eac stop. We were left high and dry in Chinatown which was the next to the last stop. We already had subway passes so it was not that big of a deal and we were able to fully visit the Chinatown. Strongly recommend the tourist pass which permits unlimited subway/bus rides. Best way to get around Singapore!

A complete waste of money, very lethargic guide who left us to our own devices at most stops with little information, the highlight was supposed to be a tea making ceremony in Little India. It was in fact a stall in a back street where tea already made was poured between jugs and handed out in paper cups with not a word being said? Very disappointing!!

Our tour guide did not appear to be trained at all in speaking to a group or in giving a tour. I am accustomed to focusing intently on what people say, but even I found her difficult to understand, tangential and off-topic.She went into extraordinary detail about random things like the specifics of the Singapore school children's schedules, but did not provide good information about the history of Singapore, the architecture, or much that was not about shopping. We were told to go to Bugis more times than I could count, were rushed from spot to spot for a photo op or two. While it did provide a brief overview, it was not one of the better tours I have taken. Not recommended.
