This tour covered the early Malay history of Singapore through the hill as the seat of the rulers’ & it’s ongoing significance as an early historical site. Our guide; Wei Wei; walked us through the historical development of the site from this early period through the early colonial period to present day. We covered all of the historical sites on Fort Canning hill. She was informative, pleasant, engaging & understanding with a very thorough historical knowledge. The tour of the battle box museum was particularly poignant. Our guide covered the battle for Singapore particularly well. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to gain an understanding of the history of Singapore from its early history through to the battle for Singapore & it’s aftermath. This tour was very good value for money. Thankyou Wei Wei 😊

Had booked for this tour a couple of months beforehand (together with the 'Changi Coach Tour'), as this extended tour was only run a couple of times a week and I wanted to ensure a place.

Whilst my history interest is primarily WW2 (and hence the Battlebox part of the tour would be of prime interest for me), the whole site of Fort Canning Hill goes back well before then to the early colonial era if not before, and our Tour Guide - Wina - was extremely informative and provided a highly interesting and varied commentary.

All in all, a worthwhile and very interesting hour an a half. Recommended! And thank you Wina!

I really enjoyed this walking tour around Fort Canning Park and the Battlebox. It packs 700 years of history into a couple of hours, including a focused look at the events of WW2 from within the Battlebox itself. Spending time learning about the history of the wider site (and country) gave context to the events of the war and enriched my understanding. My guide, Joanne, was knowledgeable, personable and humorous. If you're into history, then this is the walking tour for you!

We enjoyed the tour of Fort Canning and the Battlebox. Helena was an excellent guide who mixed history with stories we could relate to. We could have spent longer in the Battlebox, and liked the mix of video footage with the knowledge of the guide.

Oui oui! Thank you for taking us through the story of Singapore which all has ramifications on Fort Canning Hill. Your explanations were clear and well illustrated with pass around pictures. The tour of The Battlebox portrayed a very sad time for Singapore authoritavely and sympathetically.

This is a great historical place to visit, the tour gives you a full insight of how the hill fort was constructed and it’s change of use over the years including the occupation of the Japanese during WWII and the British.

Our tour guide Joanne was a lovely informative person who detailed the history of Battlebox and made it interesting to listen to.... Plus she had a lovely smile, always a bonus.

Also whilst we where visiting Singapore the “ COVID-19” Virus was on alert. The persons running this tour took all precautions for our safety and well being.

Not many photos as these cannot be taken inside the Battlebox.

Also worth a visit as the whole park is wonderful.

Definitely worth a visit 👍

Now you must have a genuine interest in history, this is not much of a sightseeing tour, more of an informative one.

Take a walk around Fort Canning and learn of the relics it had left behind all these years, then into the Battlebox (no recording of any sort allowed) to look at Singapore's really dark WW2 history.

To top it off, our guide Joanne was quite a pleasure to be with. She explained all the relevant history on this tour with clarity and enthusiasm. She knows her stuff!

I would go on another "Original Singapore Walks" tour again, no hesitation.

Nancy was an entertaining and well informed guide. The tour was more about the history of the hill (1 1/2 hours on history and graveyards) and less about the Battlebox itself. That being said, there was not much left in the facility so they would be really stretching to make it last 2 and a half hours. We have been through Churchill’s bunker rooms in London and after that our expectations might have been too high.
The movies were great. They have done the best with the little they have available. Overall not a bad tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour conducted by Winni, who was a very knowledgeable guide. She explained the transformation of Singapore in great clarity. The tour was 2.5 hours which included touring around the spice garden, cemetery, Fort Canning hill, and walking through the underground bunker where the British commanded the battle during WWII. The life size wax figures of the commanders, lieutenants, and officers displayed in the war rooms were simply amazing. This tour is highly recommended for those who are interested in the colonial history.

Wina made this a memorable and interesting afternoon as we learnt about the history of Singapore around Fort Canning and the Battlebox. A moving insight into the last days of Singapore leading to the British and Allied surrender. We loved our guide's knowledge and passion, and care for her group. A great afternoon and highly recommended.
