- Paradise435512982510 contributionsKayaking Adventure Pulau UbinWhat a fantastic day, although very hot, it was very enjoyable and we saw parts of Singapore that tourists may not normally get to. Pulau Ubin must be like Singapore of old was, water, fishing boats, jungle - a real contrast the city across the water. The kayaking was not too difficult at all and fine for beginners and older people like me and my husband. I could put my feet in the water to cool off! Any water splashes were welcome. Daniel and Ethan were highly organised and looked after our group perfectly, giving us the safety low down, outfitting us with life vests and kayaks, teaching the way paddle, taking us on our kayak route and waiting for any kayakers who were a bit slower. As well as kayaking, we visited a little shrine on the land, then hopped back in our kayaks and returned to the starting point. Probably 2.5 to 3 hours on the water all up. Wildlife - We saw a few sea-eagles, including one with a fish that it had caught. We followed our morning with a lovely lunch at the restaurant next door to the kayak building, recommended by the guides. I found out about this through SingapoRewards via the Visit Singapore website, and if you satisfy the conditions, you might be eligible for a free tour (there's loads on offer), I chose this as it sounded fun and I wanted to visit Pulau Ubin anyway. It was a great choice.Written 14 July 2023
- Rachel_28_ma0 contributionsSuper Scenic Trip!Had an amazing trip to Pulau Ubin to go kayaking, definitely a highlight of our visit to Singapore! Super scenic around the island/mangroves, lead by a great guide - thank you XY 😊Written 9 May 2023
- mylenessoriano0 contributionsRelaxing adventure!I didn't know that an active adventure can be associated with relaxation until I tried the mangrove kayaking in Pulau Ubin. Not your typical physical exercise! The mangroves and the surrounding environment will give your mind the relaxation and utmost peacefulness, and we saw hornbills during our break at the drinking stall, it perfectly completed our kayaking adventure.Written 18 January 2023
- 58geetap0 contributionsgood experienceWe enjoyed the tour and mangrooves. Our guide was very informative and helpful . We got caught in a terrible rain storm so had to take shelter in the mangrooves area and our kids really liked that added bonus. The palau island is EXTREMELY DIRTY and the water is also EXTREMELY DIRTY. Dead fish everywhere and terribleWritten 12 July 2022

- pokmarc0 contributionsgreat kayaking adventureIt was a fun and relaxing little tour. the tour guide syafiq was very friendly and easy to talk to, he is also knowledgable and was flexible to make tweaks to his original program because the paddlers were all rather proficient, we got to paddle right next among the mangrove trees between the shallow sections. it was interesting to learn about the different type of kelongs as well as the type of wildlife that can be found in singapore. In all a very enjoyable tour.Written 31 December 2021
- JoyceG730 contributionsGood experience to get to know a different part of SingaporeA relaxing and enjoyable trip where we learnt so much about Pulau Ubin and also the surrounding kelongs / fish farms and nature. Would be wonderful if it was less pricey.Written 21 December 2021
- MeiXuanToh0 contributionsA memorable kayaking experienceWe learnt lots of new things about mangrove and pualu Ubin! - Audrey W0 contributionsWonderful Backyard of SingaporeAsian Detours had everything organised and we enjoyed a hassle free day at Pulau Ubin. The Paddle to Pedal program wasn't too difficult, even my 7+ years old boy could keep up and had lots of fun. Only down side is that the water off Pulau Ubin where we had to kayak around was very dirty and filled with rubbish! Note to self and others - we have to do our parts to take care of Mother Earth!Written 24 June 2021
- ke1r1n0 contributionsAmazing AdventureThis was more than a kayaking trip, we learned so much about the wildlife and the mangrove from Brenda, our awesome guide who was so passionate! An absolute enjoyable time away from the city being in the waters & coming close to nature! Would definitely recommend!Written 29 April 2021

A visit to Pulau-Ubin island for this kayaking tour is a must-do for the 'outdoorsy people' visiting Singapore. We were so impressed by our guide and overall experience with Adventures by Asian Detours. Our guide gave his insights on growing up in Singapore and provided more details about the city-state. He was also knowledgeable about Pulau-Ubin, its natural resources, and the animals. We even saw jumping fish, monkeys, and monitor lizards. The quiet of the mangroves was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. I would do it again!

The mangrove kayaking programme offered by Asian Detours allows you to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. The guide who followed us was very patient even though we were not going very fast in our kayak. There is an open water part which is quite tiring due to the choppy waves so please be adequately nourished before the activity. Otherwise, my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we will recommend it to others who are seeking an "urban detoxification".

Me and my son went kayaking to the mangroves on the 27th of october. It was a sunny day and the trip was very beautiful. Also the instructor was knowledgable and in good mood even as our fellow canoeists. In shortly we very enjoyed this wonderful trip. If I may give critisicm, I saw many carbage in the mangrove area. It should be nice if your company set a good example to clean that up once a month, or clean it up once a week. That should be better for Flora and fauna and your company does a good thing for humankind.

I agree with the latest review, but for different reasons. Just as well my children had never done this sort of activities previously. My husband and I thought this was far too expensive for it offered: the equipment was old; the guide knew very little of the flora and the fauna; the area was dirty with rubbish; no wheels to take the kayakes to the water; etc.
I can not recommend this activity.

Dear Sonia,
Thank you for your patience while we took the time to thoroughly review your feedback regarding your recent kayaking experience at Pulau Ubin. We’re sorry to hear that the activity didn’t fully meet your expectations. We genuinely appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us.
We conducted an inquiry process with the adventure leader, Syahril based on your feedback.
While there were some wildlife sightings—including monitor lizards, eagles, and otters—we understand that certain aspects of the tour may not have resonated with you as strongly.
Concerning the rubbish in the water, it’s truly disappointing when the beauty of nature is affected by such issues. While the trash you see often comes from neighboring areas and is beyond our direct control, we remain committed to raising awareness and supporting conservation efforts. This is why we are so passionate about the educational value of our program.
We also hear your concerns about the equipment and appreciate your candid feedback. It’s important for us to know how our guests feel, and your input will help us as we look for ways to enhance our offerings.
Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more enjoyable experience in the future.

The guide - Bennett - was knowledgeable, a great conversationalist and friendly too. This activity is capped at 8 participants to allow for maximum interaction but we lucked out and there were only 4 of us on a Saturday.
We not only saw the mangroves but got to also explore the 'side alleys' along the mangroves and at one point even got the chance to swim if we wanted to. The activity was easy to do & friendly for beginners. It's a total distance of about 7km but it's much easier on water in a kayak.

Great excursion. XuYong was a terrific guide. It's a beautiful area, and the kayaking was a lot of fun. Our group had a blast. We saw sea otters frolicking by the shore. Total time for the actual kayaking was about 2 hours. Facilities are rustic, including place to rinse off. (Don't expect nice showers.) Be sure to bring a bag water-proof bag to keep valuables dry. (The sporting goods store Decathlon sells such items.) I would have been convenient to bring a special phone pouch (so that I would not have had to keep taking my phone out of the bag to take photos), but it was still OK. Expect some fare negotiation on the ferry ride over (somewhat annoying, since the ferry terminal looked pretty official, so didn't expect that from the small boat captains at all). Be sure to get to ferry terminal early.

It was a great experience with our guide, Lye, on a Saturday afternoon. Our guide made sure to stop at various "pit stops" to explain different natural occurrences and developments surrounding the island. The small group size made it an intimate session to really interact and exchange knowledge with one another. It was fun to learn about Singapore on a serene day out on the sea, also a great workout (beginner friendly)! Coach was also very good at making sure we are safe and hydrated. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

It was a joy to have Alvina as a guide. As first timers, we were eased into the experience and thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful lagoons that Alvina took us to amongst the mangroves and carefully explained about the wildlife and ecosystem I never knew we had here in Singapore. We saw kingfishers, heron, white belly sea eagle, swimming monitor lizards and more! What a way to explore our own country during such unique times. Thanks for the adventure!

Was a first time for the kids and the whole experience was amazing! Our guide (Jonathan) was wonderful with the kids. His patience and gentle encouragement allowed us to step out of our comfort zone with ease. The 4 hours flew past quickly, and it was an extremely fruitful learning session, even for me!

Fantastic and unique mangrove kayak adventure. Lots of fun with a knowledgeable guide. The right mix of fun relaxation and challenge. Totally recommend this activity if you love nature, love adventure!
Very well organised and helpful, prepared for all weather conditions. Comprehensive safety briefing provided as well as all the necessary equipment, including life jackets, rinsing area for after your adventure. Fine even for novices due to the care and attention from the team though moderate fitness would be very helpful. I had a really great time (2 adults, 1 teen).
It was such a unique way to enjoy Pulau Ubin/Singapore, peaceful. If lucky you can see some of the wildlife. We saw monitor lizards and river swallows as well kites. There may be small footed otters in the mangroves.
