Rui Heng (and his assistant) was the best!
Heng did a very good job with the tour. He came with an assistant so that someone can go ahead before the group in order to save us seats at the next hawker centre so that we don't have to wait around. To summarise the highlights of the tour: > Heng's assistant arrived at 9.10am, which is way before the 9.30 call time. > the meetup point is right outside Starbucks, which was handy if you want to grab something hot to drink before starting the tour. > Heng was very conscious about the group's tolerance to the hot and humid weather, us being foreigners and mostly not used to the Singapore's tropical climate. Our seats at all the hawker centres we went to all had fans right on top of us. Whenever we're out walking on the streets, Heng would make sure we're walking along the shade. And he makes pit stops where there's AC to help cool us down a bit. > Heng provided each one of us with an audio tool to better hear him while he's talking/explaining while we're out and about. It helped give all of us a better experience. > Heng provided us with bottled water. Also, he gives out utensils at each pit stop. > Heng was able to explain some history and answer questions about the hawker culture and some dishes that we tried. Overall, the tour was very informative and interesting. However, if you have dietary restrictions and requirements, you should inform them ahead of the tour. You get served a sharing platter at each stop and given small plates for you to try. Highly recommend this trip!!!

Great informative hawker tour with Heng
Heng and his assistant were great guides, reserving spots, having food ordered, and providing lots of information not just about the food and hawker centres but also life in Singapore. Plenty to eat and drink as well. A worthwhile introduction to food in Singapore.

I took the 2.5-hour complimentary Guided Heritage Tour as part of the Free Singapore Tours by Changi Airport during a long layover(13 hours). My tour started at 6pm and we were back at the airport at 8.30pm. This tour was conducted by Monster Day Tours in collaboration with Changi Airport. To qualify for this tour, you have to be a passenger transiting through the Changi Airport and have a minimum layover time of 5.5 hours. You also need to store your carry-on luggage at a luggage storage facility within the airport for a fee. Nobody is allowed to bring any carry-on luggage to participate in the tours. You also have to make sure that you have a visa to enter Singapore, because you will be clearing immigration and customs to participate in these tours. All participants will need to fill up the Singapore Arrival Card(SGAC) online before you are allowed to sign-up for the tours.

Although the tour started at 6pm, we had to report to the Free Singapore Tours desk in Terminal 3 or Terminal 2 of Changi Airport 45 minutes prior to 6pm. Once everyone who is registered has gathered together next to the desk, the tour guide would do a role-call, calling out every person's name on the participants list. After that, he would guide us through the immigration and customs. Once we are outside, we are ushered onto a bus and our tour begins!

The Heritage Tour took us to 2 spots: Singapore's Chinatown & Kampung Glam(The Muslim area of Singapore). This tour allowed us to get off the bus and walk around these 2 areas for a short while, buy some souvenirs, buy some drinks or snacks, take lots of photos, before meeting up at the appointed spot at the appointed time and getting back on board the bus to return to the airport.

Our guide for this Heritage Tour was K.K. and he is a marvelous tour guide. He told us the history of the 3 different main races that make up Singapore today, where they originated from, how they arrived in Singapore and how they contribute to Singapore's demographics and economy today. It was a fascinating lesson about the rich history and culture of this small and yet powerful island-nation in South East Asia! This was just a brief introduction to Singapore. For more in-depth tours into Singapore's history and culture, you will have to stay for a week or more here! I highly recommend this tour to all first-time visitors to Singapore!

This tour was excellent. Our guide was fantastic, he was very knowledgeable and personable, and his English was great. My husband needed to take frequent breaks from walking and our guide was good at noticing this and suggesting places to take a short rest.

It was our first time in Singapore and we learned much from this tour. It also gave us the chance to get comfortable with the subway system, which was very helpful for the rest of our trip. We covered a lot of ground during this tour and it gave us a good feel for the city.

We also enjoyed the food offerings, we sampled places in Chinatown and Little India.

I definitely would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to learn about Singapore food and culture.

Ping was an absolute delight as our guide in Singapore, giving us a five-star experience that perfectly matched what we were looking for in a private food and culture tour. Despite being seasoned travelers with high standards, Ping surpassed every expectation. She expertly led us through vibrant neighborhoods like Chinatown and Little India, sharing fascinating cultural insights at every turn.

From the classic Hainanese chicken rice and Fried Hokkien prawn noodles to unique treats like Fried carrot cake (actually made from radish), every dish told a story of Singapore’s melting pot of flavors. We savored local favorites like Kaya butter toast with soft boiled eggs and Kopi, alongside the refreshing sugar cane juice. In Little India, we enjoyed Medhu vadai with a spicy tomato dip, flavorful samosas, and warm Roti prata with mutton curry, all washed down with comforting Teh tarik.

Throughout the tour, Ping’s warmth and expertise transformed every stop into a fun, unforgettable experience. Whether exploring hidden hawker stalls or sampling Singapore’s iconic dishes, we felt we were in the best possible hands. If you want an authentic taste of Singapore’s culinary and cultural treasures, do yourself a favor and book Ping—you won’t regret it!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the "Singapore Private Food and Culture Tour." This walking and subway tour offered a rich insight into Singapore's culture and flavors, tailored perfectly to our pace and preferences at age 65. Our guide's (Rayney) willingness to adjust the itinerary made our experience memorable, allowing us to savor every moment comfortably.

We explored vibrant neighborhoods and tasted diverse dishes, all while learning about the city's heritage. The personalized approach of our guide ensured we never felt overwhelmed, highlighting the tour's focus not just on sightseeing but on creating an enjoyable, tailored experience.

For those looking for a considerate and customized exploration of Singapore, this tour comes highly recommended. It's a perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and personal touch.

Had 2 tours with Monster over Christmas holidays 2022. Monster Tours communicated effectively using WhatsApp with us before the tour and responded within a reasonable timeframe to any queries that we had.

The first tour was with Pamela for a food and culture tour. We booked directly with Monster Day Tours, and paid SGD 405 for 2 people. Pam deserves five stars! She is pleasant, engaging and knowledgeable. She clearly loves to travel, and her enthusiasm exudes from her eyes. She is a wonderful person, and we had a delightful time!

Marcus was our incredible tour guide and taught us so much about the culture and history of Singapore! The food was delicious, the pace was great, and he readily adapted our itinerary to accommodate our young kids' needs (it was the day after we arrived from the US, so jet lag set in by the end of the tour). Communication with the host was fantastic and Marcus showed up early for pickup from our hotel. Completely worth it to do the private tour since our group included 2 kids (ages 5 & 7) and a pregnant traveler. Marcus went above and beyond by helping to carry our stroller, cleaning our tables, grabbing food on our behalf, and teaching us how to use the MTR. He made the tour feel personalized and special, and I'm so glad we did this tour right when we arrived!

We had a wonderful day tour of many of the best spots in Singapore! As one of the most unique culinary centers in the world, I would highly recommend taking this tour specifically if you are interested in getting an authentic experience at the Hawker centers and not the tourist traps.

Our tour guide Marcus Yeo was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and enthusiastic while showing us around a curated set of locations in the city. He gave us a lot of historical appreciation for Singapore, his energy was great to be around, and he imparted upon us an understanding of what this incredible city has to offer from the perspective of a local.

Thank you Monster Day Tours and especially Marcus for making our Singapore honeymoon fantastic!

This was a great way to get familiar with a few neighborhoods in Singapore and help navigating the hawker centers, which can be a little overwhelming to the uninitiated. Swee was lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. For a food tour, there wasn't that much food. I was hoping to be able to sample a wider variety of foods. This might have been because I was solo, but I paid a lot for the tour. I had two small dishes in Chinatown, some really great food and a fresh coconut in Little India (best food by far), and then a few snacks at a cafe on Arab Street. I was hoping to sample a wider variety or even have the chance to request trying a few other foods. It was also really hot and it would be have better to have a chance to get water. Swee's knowledge of the history of Singapore and the neighborhoods was the best part of the tour. i loved riding the bus between locations- great way to see the city.

I thought the tour would be three hours, but it was closer to five. It was nice to not be rushed, but I ended up being a little pinched for time at the end.

This was a very good tour and I enjoyed my guide Swee Lin. It's great to experience culture through food. I really enjoyed each of the food selections and hearing about the history behind the Chinese, Indian and Arab communities.

I met Swee Lin at the train stop in Chinatown. We proceeded to walk through some streets and stopped in a food center for 2 items. Both delicious and I bought myself a cold beer to go with them. It was definitely a hot day.

We took the bus to Little India and it was very lively. I had a delicious item there and was also served coconut water in the coconut. We then hopped on the bus again to Arab street.

Arab street was also pretty festive and crowded as everyone was preparing to eat at sundown. We had to wait for a table but once we sat I was served a Malaysian noodle dish and traditional dessert. I also had an iced coffee.

Swee Line walked me to the bus stop and I saw myself back to my hotel. I probably missed the getting home description but I thought I would end where we started which was walkable for me.

All in all it was a fun tour and I can recommend Swee Lin and this tour. The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is the amount of tastings. The description says 9-10 and I got 5 food items and 2 drinks. All delicious though.
