Artistic experience
It was a fun experience learning the basics of batik painting. In the short time was able to make two paintings and the owner was very knowledgeable and there to give advice. This was a creative outlet I was looking for during my travels.

Today's batik class was amazing. Everything was provided and going overtime for me to finish was not an issue which I really appreciated.
The instruction was simple and clear to understand even for me who finds any art difficult to do. Although I have never tried batik before, I was pleasantly surprised that my finished products looked great!
I would recommend this class to everyone young and old. It's a great introduction to batik and really fun!

Kamal is very knowledgeable with Batik, and it was a great learning experience. He guided us patiently to learn how to control using the tjanting to create our own artwork, and was warm in sharing his knowledge of batik. He gave us many useful tips in selecting a good piece of batik. It was a very enriching experience and we would love to come back for more classes. Thank you Kamal!

My friends and I try to do some kind of local craft class where ever we go. This was a fantastic experience Kamal was a very kind and patient teacher. We learned a lot about the history of Batik along with the basic techniques.I was amazed to be leaving the class with a finished work. No need to be a great artist to achieve great results. The whole experience was relaxed, fun and interesting. My only negative is that I was not able to do some more classes with him. We will definitely look at what is available on any future trips to Singapore

The minute we step into Kamal's workshop we were welcome and greeted with a big smile by Kamal's staff. (So Sori forget his name). The instruction given to us by Kamal for a first timer was easy, simple and clear. Kamal was knowledgeable and friendly guy. We really enjoy doing Batik in his workshop.It was nice of his staff to go around and help us when he saw us struggling with our Batik.. Good job to him. To sum up, we had a great experience in doing batik. We are definitely coming back for more Batik panting. Thank you Mr Kamal and staff.

I first attended Kamal's Batik Painting Class in October 2018 and enjoyed it so much I have been attending weekly. It doesn't matter if you can't draw as you can trace your design from a selection provided. Help is on hand to teach you in the early lessons using simple to paint designs. After your first lesson you will be able to take home your finished batik and hopefully decide to return to learn more. As you progress weekly you can move onto more complex batiks using techniques such as layering and crackling and also drawing your own images. I look forward to my open studio sessions and am amazed at how my batiks have improved. I find the classes therapeutic, with other friendly, inspirational artists attending to offer tips and advice. I thoroughly enjoy my classes and hope to attend Kamal's studio for many years to come.

I first went to Kamal's studio when I was looking for an activity for my elderly parents in law. They stayed with us for four weeks in Singapore, and each week we went to the studio and learned how to do batik. My parents in law are in their 80s, and they had a wonderful time. They were taught and assisted respectfully, and got great joy from learning a completely new skill and producing lovely pieces they could take home. After they left Singapore, I have continued to attend the studio each week. It has become a new hobby for me. It is a wonderfully therapeutic and encouraging space, a place of friendship and beauty and discovery of artistic skills. All the materials are provided, and there are always experienced artists on hand to advise and assist.

My Wife and I attended this Art class to learn how to do Batik Art and it was perfect.
We knew little about painting but Kamal and his lovely Wife showed us everything in the most polite environment, yet extremely helpful with each step. We have both our paintings hanging in our home in Seattle now. It is wonderful to see how and why this style of painting is so cherished.
If you ever want to relax and produce something you can keep forever, this is the instructor. Seeing His own works was like touring an Art Museum.
Kamal is now our instructor and Friend. We will certainly attend his shop on our next Singapore trip. 5 stars for how rewarding we felt for his assistance to introduce us to Batik Art.
