Not What It Used To Be
If you remember Singapore from 20 or 30 years ago, when Orchard Road was something, you'll be disappointed these days. It's all expensive shops & designer brands. You could be anywhere in the world. There are better shopping experiences in Singapore these days.

my first audio guided tour in singapore, and it was a good one. superb production and storytelling that really transports you into the past and enables you to see the neighborhood in a totally different light. highly recommend even if you're a local - likely you don't know half the stuff they share on the tour

The whole immersive art tour was a first for me and it have made me felt like a tourist in Singapore.

As you walk along the bustling streets, the engaging storyline transports you back to the 1960s where you see the streets transformed into the story backdrop.

All in all, it was a great and unique experience. Don’t worry about getting lost because you’ll get a map in case you lose your way. But the best experience is to just follow the audio and let your imagination take flight.

The audio tour was an amazing way to get acquainted to Jalan Besar and the rich history behind it. Having known the history of the Hotel New World collapse, it was even more enriching to be reminded through the love story of Rose and Kiran.

The instructions and directions were clear although sometimes we would get lost as we were immersed by the stories told.

The ambience, set up and production pieces created to build on the story and to weave in together with Jalan Besar made it even more immersive and captivating through the stories... As if we were travelling back in time!

It was definitely an activity that was worth the time. A walk in the evening till night and experience the hustle and bustle of Jalan Besar, while listening to the story created for the listeners.

I'm definitely looking forward to more activities created by OH! Open House and their new art walk 'Refuge for Strangers'.

I'll also like to say that the staff were really friendly and helpful as they guided us on the directions and instructions making the experience even more enjoyable! :)

Such an amazing immersive experience. We enjoyed the storytelling thoroughly, and we enjoyed exploring the alleys and roads in our own neighborhood that we rarely walk through. Well-designed props and stage, genius use of various medium, beautiful music, voice acting, and great pacing. What a gem find of an activity to do on a weekend evening. I went with my partner and we walked alongside one another but lost in our own worlds with Kiran and Rosa as we explored the Rochor area.

Very immersive experience almost feeling like you are in the movie! The storyline is also very captivating while it introduces the history behind the area. Was very educational and thoroughly enjoyed the experience :)
Would recommend booking a weekday evening slot tho. (We booked on a Sunday evening and although the weather was nice, the streets were very crowded and was a bit difficult getting through)

We are locals and wanted to experience a different side of Singapore. This audio tour brought us to the unexplored streets of desker road, and through its back alleys. Roads that even as locals, we would not passed without reason.

Would recommend choosing a later timing, when it’s after dark, and the experience is better. Best to come with a partner.

Highly recommended. Hope to experience more tours like this around Singapore.

Hi there! These are streets that we have also enjoyed roaming through and we're glad we were able to take you to unexplored spaces. Doing the experience at night certainly has its charm - we absolutely dig the night walk too! If you enjoyed the experience, please keep a lookout for the upcoming one at Kampong Glam - due to launch in 2022!

Well written love story and attentive set up, the audio guide matched and progressed perfectly with the change in scenes, giving us a smooth immersive experience, as if we were really back to the old Singapore. The scenes were set up nicely that we could really feel for the characters. i try not to disclose so much cause future visitors should experience it by themselves! Love it, look forward to Oh Stories future projects !

Really interesting concept and a great idea to do the walk at night - allowing you to fully immerse in the history and the story the audio guide presents. Having lived here a while, I like that it takes you to the dark corners and back alleyways you would expect to walk through. Must wear headphones to fully immersive, ignore the map! Only comment is to mention more of the history of the art/murals/buildings on the walk!

Thank you for joining us at NWE! We wanted to take our visitors on a journey beyond just the streets of Jalan Besar and therefore, included elements of walking through alleyways where most people may not frequent. Thanks for the tip on mentioning more history of the place and murals, we'll look more into that! See you at our new art experience coming up real soon :D

Without spoiling too much...The audio and installation experience is really cool.

Went on a Sunday evening and it was really pleasant to walk around. The locations that they did the installations on are really well art directed and i would not have otherwise gone into these spaces.
The films my Brian Gothong Tan are beautiful. Loved the props and spaces we were able to inhabit.

You will have to walk through holes in walls!
