Our tour guide Martin was incredible and his sense of humor was spot on. Both cities have amazing history and thanks to our guide we enjoyed everything, including small quiz during the tour (really thoughtful one). Not everybody in the group was interested in what our guide was saying, but no matter what, he managed to stay enthusiastic during the entire trip. I can highly recommend the tour if you have time to spare in Bulgaria.

We had an amazing day visiting Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa with our excellent guide Martin who was friendly, fun and very informative. We loved Plovdiv old town which looked amazing, unlike anything we had ever seen (like the perfect set out of an old gothic movie) and enjoyed visiting an outdoor Roman theatre and tasting in a local distillery where we purchased a bottle of melon alcohol. Martin was a great driver who multi-tasked by giving us funny and engaging stories of the histories of Bulgaria, Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa which all made for a fascinating, fun and memorable day.

Martin was such an excellent guide. He was knowledgeable and engaging. You visit two historic places, with Martin telling you the history and showing the sights. He took the time with everyone in our small group to ensure they all got to see what they wanted.
It’s a fairly long day with three times driving distances of about two hours. But it’s a great way to see some magic outside Sofia. I’d do it again!

Excellent tour. The historical sites were well chosen and the tour was well planned. We traveled with family in the Summer of 2022. The tour guide (Todor) was very knowledgeable and accommodating. As a bonus we visited the Bishops Basilica of Philippopolis. This site is actually a breathtaking and should be included in the standard tour. Great memories were created, thank you Traventuria.

When we booked the tour we knew that Plovdiv and Koprivshitsa will be a great way to explore Bulgaria and its history, but this tour exceeded our expectations mostly because of its guide Martin. He told us all about history in an interesting way, joked around, made us feel safe and told us all the important information. We would book another tour with Traventuria if we were staying longer in Sofia.

Great way to see the museum and medieval cities of Bulgaria in one day. My tour guide Maria was very informative, happy to answer any questions, positive, and knew all of the photo spots. Very picturesque.

Excellent tour to two very cool Bulgarian cities. This was my second trip with this tour operator. Don’t hesitate to take a tour with them. Our guide, Philip (I’m sure I spelled that wrong), was a wealth of information and knew how to handle a diverse tour group. The transportation was comfortable and professional. The weather happened to be great for us. I got a ton of great pictures and learned a lot about these two amazing cities.

Very good way to take a peek at two very different Bulgarian cities. Logistics and organization went smoothly, the guides were friendly, relaxed, and thought as a lot about our destinations and Bulgaria in general.
We also had some free time at both destinations which was nice. Keep in mind that (by the nature of the tour), a big part of the tour is spent on the road.

We spend the whole day with Chris, exploring the 2 cities. The touristic guide is so professional and ready to reply to all of your curiosities. I really appreciated the fact that he is not only a "worker" for the company, but he is really passionate about his job!

Best decision to take this tour. Plovdiv was not on my list and I so glad I visited the city. Very different from Sofia and I would say more representative of the Bulgarian history and culture. Must visit and if you have time then possibly even spend an evening there.
Koprivshtitsa is a lovely town in the mountains. Great to spend an afternoon away from the city bustle. The town is historically significant in the Bulgarian revolution.
My tour guide Lubo was fantastic. He shared a lot about Bulgarian history and culture and made the whole trip memorable.

How much of the walking is flat and how much is hilly or stairs?

Both Plovdiv and Koprivshtitsa are set upon hills, so most of it is definitely a hilly walk. Some stairs as well, but nothing steep or high, more like the kind of steps to help with the climb here and there. It doesn't require much effort though I would say as the tour is at a slow, relaxed pace.
