Excellent private tour
Jun 2021
Highlight of my trip to Bulgaria!  Excellent tour. I  absolutely loved doing this tour and would recommend it to ANYONE who wants to do an experience in Plovdiv. My Guide Lubomir petkashev was friendly, informative and extremely educative not only about the history of Bulgaria but also about the different local foods and bulgarian traditions. Plovdiv is the one most beautiful city in bulgaria. I would highly recommend this tour over others because lubomir has recommended food/places that otherwise i  would have missed. Thank you again !

It was a great tour from Sofia. Plovdiv was a beautiful city with lots to see and do. Lubo was an excellent guide and showed us all of the best places to see that really showed the culture of the city. I would highly recommend to anyone!

Plovdiv day tour
Constantine was a fantastic guide. The tour was nicely paced, we got to see a lot without it feeling very rushed. Picked up in central Sofia at 9am and dropped off at exactly 5pm. Would highly recommend.

A great tour
Feb 2020
This was a great day trip. It's around 2 hours drive from Sofia to Plovdiv including a toilet/coffee stop. Our guide was knowledgable and enthusiastic and told us lots about the things we saw and the history of the town. Plovdiv is definitely well worth a visit and this tour is a good way to do it.

A must-do!
Feb 2020
Plovdiv is stunning. If you are in Sofia, it is an easy and beautiful day trip. We had Constansa as our guide and she was fantastic! She is smart, fun, and clearly loves her job and Plovdiv. We learned so much, and saw so many wonderful sights. One day was not enough!!! I highly, highly recommend this trip and Constansa as a guide.

Cool, but easily improvable.
Dec 2019
Starting from the point that Plovidv was named Culture capital, I think the tour does no justice to it. Two hours trip where the guide wouldn't literally stop talking about thousands of facts about Bulgary in general. Of course this is interesting, but the problem is that when you get to Plovdiv you almost get no explanation about many important histrory facts, neither about city's fundation, also the Roman history sounds vague...
The plan was: guided tour 11-13.30 and free time 13.30-15. The guide was nice and knew lots of facts.
On the walking tour it was difficult to keep the group together and moving at a good pace because there were too much delay to take photos.
In my opinion, the worst part of everything was when the guide gave the option to visit a museum during the guided tour so everyone who did not want to go into had to wait 20 if not 30 minutes outside (you couldn't go so far just in case the remaining part of the group inside the museum suddently finished), this fact made us lose a lot of time of visiting the city; why don't they offer visiting the museum in the free time?. We vaguely saw 5 interesting spots. The free time obviously you may lose it inside a restaurant.., one remaining free hour is not so much for the whole city of Plovidiv. I think the whole trip could be better organised and would clarly improve if organised otherwise.
I do agree with other reviews which say that with a map, the interpretive panels and some google information, you can enjoy more time of viewing the sites on yout own. I felt I didn't make the most of it and that saddens me, because Plovidv is a really beautiful city.

Dear Lidia, Thank you for your review. Please, kindly note that during the process of booking, all of our customers agree with the details of the tour, including the itineraries and time tables. The time for photos is included, so the tour and the groups are not affected by that. The visit to the museum is included in the itineraries of the tour, as it is considered a must-see. However, all of our guides are really enthusiastic about their job and they always find a flexible way to satisfy everyone in the group. I am sure our guide gave you a few options on what to do during the time others are in the Museum. It's a customer's choice to visit a restaurant, but we always recommend our guests to take some sandwiches for lunch so they will have more free time to wander around instead of waiting in the restaurant. We strongly believe that our guides can give you information about Plovdiv in-depth and can always show you hidden places that you may not be able to find even on a good Google search. We also offer private tours that can be organized according to a time-table completely organized by the customer, so I am sure next time we can satisfy all of your wishes. Safe travels, Annie Krumova

Gorgeous town
Booked this tour after doing a different tour with the same company the previous day! Had an issue whilst booking and contacted the company, who responded within the hour to help with this. Tour guide (Sveat, apologies for any spelling errors), was great. Clean/nice mini bus. Good mix between guided and non-guided periods. Ample toilet breaks, and the guide and bus driver were good about making sure that no one got left behind. Plovdiv was a lovely town.

Beautiful city but too little time
Sep 2019 • Couples
Plowdiw is a really beautiful city with lots if interesting things to see. Our guide was well informed and very friendly and showed us the most important sites. But..if you plan a one in a life day trip to Plowdiw I can not recommend this tour. We definitely had too little time on our own after the tour was finished. Only time to grab a quick lunch and then hurry to the meeting place to catch the bus back so we could be in Sofia at 17:00h. I was very disappointed due to this as there would have been a lot more to see but we did not have the time to really enjoy the city. If I book a day tour I would expect to have more time and not already be back at 17:00 h.

Only okay
Oct 2019
This day-long excursion may not be to everyone’s liking. It’s a two-hour drive each way (9:00-17:00), the guide gives some commentary on the outgoing ride and then plays a few videos on the onboard TV (only the drone views of Bulgarian landscapes and sites were worth seeing); on the walking tour it may be difficult to keep the group together and moving at a good pace (too many delays for photographs); and note that the museum is closed on Mondays, and that may result in a dragged-out walking tour to fill the time. Entering the Roman Theatre cost just 5 leva, but if you don’t want to enter, you can photograph from outside on the right side. I felt that there was too much time spent there. There was no commentary on the ride back to Sofia. I was left feeling that the guide, Martin, was bored with his job. With the good map from the Plovdiv tourist information centre and the interpretive panels at the historic sites, I feel I could have enjoyed a few hours of viewing the sites on my own.

Dear customer, Thank you for expressing your thoughts about the tour to Plovdiv. Please, kindly note that during the process of booking, all of our customers agree with the details of the tour, including the itineraries and time tables. The time for photos is included, so the tour and the groups are not affected by that. We put the focus on the walking tour, as we believe this is the way to get the most of Plovdiv in just a few hours. However, The Roman Theatre is one of the most spectacular places and is one of the world's best-preserved ancient theatres, so we put a special accent on it. Martin is one of our best tour guides, with a lot of positive feedback, funny, enthusiastic and really passionate about his work. He is never tired of immersing our guests in the true atmosphere of every landmark or town visited. We strongly believe that our guides know the city that good that they can always show you hidden places that you may not be able to find even on a good Google search. It's been a while since you've had this experience with us and we will be happy to see you on a tour with us again, Kind regards, Annie Krumova

Nice old city area, but...
Oct 2019
We went with Traventuria in a small group of 16, a driver and a guide. The guide did very little to tell about the city, and didn’t seem to want to be there. Our walk thru the old town was pretty brief, and there wasn’t really time to look around during the walk. I don’t even remember her name which says a lot about a tour guide. When she finished the cursory tour, she left us in the town below to go back into the old town or just hang out. We felt like our day was a waste of a good day.
