This was an amazing tour!! Mario was our guide and he was awesome, went out of his way to make this experience memorable! We started with the hike and had a great guide who led us to the top. The hike is tough but so worth the view! The hiking guide had to take my hand a few times to help me up when I got tired but he was very encouraging and helped me reach the top! The hike down is easy and leads to a waterfall that you get a chance to swim in (although the water is a bit chilly). Then we went to the local town to have lunch. The restaurant we went to was very affordable and was situated next to the markets so we had a chance to shop around! The souvenirs here are very cheap so this is a great place to buy gifts to take home! We then went to the zoo and Mario bought a few bags of bananas so that we were able to feed most of the zoo animals! Feeding the Tapir was the coolest and I got some great photos! Mario guided us around the zoo, interacting with all of the animals to give us a cooler experience! We then ended the day at the thermal pools (the water is luke warm rather than hot). The pools felt amazing after a long morning of hiking! We were given mud masks to rub on our faces and arms as well! Overall, an amazing day!!

Beautiful valley inside a crater. Tour included a great hike that took our group 3 1/2 hrs to complete. However we had some overly cautious hikers in our group with two over 60 years old. You need to be in good shape. Bath in thermal pools was also enjoyable as well as the mud mask. For adventure seeking tourists, a definitely good pick. I suggest you make your reservation but then call to confirm. We were initially forgotten for pickup because we booked from a platform they don't get much business from and therefore didn't check. However he recovered well in that he had a taxi pick us up to join the group in transit. So we got off to a rocky start but the day ultimately ended up successful.

Mario and Tomas were great! Mario was really informative about the Valley. Tomas took amazing pics for me on top of the mountain. We had lunch at a local place in town then went to the market next door. Visited a museum about the history of the town then visited a zoo! it was awesoooooomee! Have your camera ready because our day was full of adventure. Mario really made the trip an experience i’ll never forget!

We had a wonderful time with our guide Santiago and driver Felix. This tour is for those who are in good physical condition. Unfortunately, one member of our party recognized early that this hike was not for him. Santiago quickly recalibrated and took us on an easier hike with beautiful scenery, rope bridges, and a waterfall. We also went to an animal preserve, a market, a butterfly preserve, and a lovely lunch. The Anton Valley is beautiful and the weather delightful. The village is adorable. We are so glad we went!

Abel was the guide for my friend and I. He was GREAT.
We only did a partial hike up but saw beautiful waterfalls and streams and scenery. Make sure you have shoes with good tread as the rocks can be slippery.
We had lunch at an awesome local restaurant next to the market.
The thermal pool was very relaxing after the hike.
And it was cool to see the golden frogs.

So we did this tour on our last day in Panama City. I was trying to figure out what to rate it, I ranged between two and four stars. I finally settled on three stars, but the reason is important. I am rating *this day trip* as three stars. El Valle was very nice. Mario was very nice. The problem? There were two. First, it is a LONG way from Panama City, especially from our hotel near the airport. I found I was apologizing to the people in my group that I set this up for after a 3+ hour drive, adn that is a bad start. Even from downtown it would be two hours. The second reason is that El Valle isn't really somewhere you visit in a day, or part of a day if you take out the 4+ hours of driving you'll be doing. It truly is a lovely town up in an extinct (?) volcanic crater. I feel in a day trip you really only barely touch the area with what we did on this trip. I could easily see spending several days up here, enjoying the town and exploring. And I will likely be doing this on our next trip to Panama

Due to the drive time we skipped the zoo. Which was OK with us. We did the "hot springs", which in reality were lukewarm springs at best. We did a little jungle hike which was neat. We enjoyed the town at lunch. We went and saw some "square trees" near an old hotel, which was only worthwhile because the walk through the hotel grounds and up the creek to these trees was filled with different birds (I am a big birdwatcher). The weather was not great for our trip, I'd love to be here when it is nice and clear.

So in summary, I don't recommend this day trip. I recommend El Valle, and I'm glad I went on this day trip because it introduced me to this town. I also recommend Mario's tours, I would go with him elsewhere. But as a day trip by itself, it was only average.

We were picked up in a regular car since it was only one other person, it was a pretty boring 2.5hr drive just trying to make small-talk since the guide didnt have much interesting/educational to say. Once we got to the valley hike trail, it’s like the guide was trying to beat own record/get a workout just speeding through the trial, not saying anything about anything. The hike was about an hour, in a beautiful setting but we didn’t get to enjoy the nature too much going so fast and trying not to slip and fall. The view up top was great though. Once we came down the guide took us to eat at a local spot- food was okayish but i had a stomach ache until the end of next day… Then we were taken to a HORRIBLE PRIVATE ZOO that made me literally cry seeing how little and dirty/basic all the habitats were, the animals were VISIBLY DISTRESSED just pacing back and forth or just sitting there with terror in their eyes, I HATED SEEING THIS and in the description there was no such thing planned. We were supposed to swim in a waterfall instead but that did not happen. Finally we were taken to ‘natural’ thermal baths which were ok but it was just man-made pools with luke-warm water. We had to pay for everything extra. Ride back in the small car in traffic was pretty daunting as well. I keep thinking about this terrible zoo even when I’m back home, it definitely ruined the mood for rest of my trip. If do you decide to do this trip, PLEASE SKIP THE ZOO AND DO NOT SUPPORT THE ANIMAL ABUSE THAT’S VISIBLY GOING ON THERE. I wish I saved my time and money and the only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the hike was in a beautiful place and view from top was great but we could have easily done this hike ourselves without anyone rushing us.

Thanks for your review. El Valle is a unique community inside the crater of a volcano, which, due to the amount of minerals its land has, makes it very fertile for flowers. It is the destination in the highlands most visited by the residents of Panama City. If you want to know where the locals visit, El Valle is an unmissable place. The journey can be a bit long but it is worth it. Already within El Valle, hiking is very popular, the sleeping Indian is option 1, but the participants must have a minimum of physical conditions to do it in the right time, because we have an itinerary to follow and we cannot stay all day trying to reach the top. In relation to the El Nispero zoo, the place is a nursery for plants and flowers, if you are a lover of plants and flowers you will feel very happy to visit this place; In addition, it is a farm where you will observe animals such as goats, many chickens of different species and pigs. In addition, the owner of the farm is a veterinarian, for that reason, he receives many exotic animals donated by their owners who got bored of having them or rescued ones that arrive in very bad condition and there they are given a shelter because they cannot be reinstated to his habitat. Without external economic support, maintaining a farm is expensive and more so if there are many exotic animals to care for, therefore, they opened the doors of the private farm to allow visitors to observe animals that are difficult to see in nature and also collect funds to maintain the farms. the best possible facilities for its inhabitants, certainly the cages are not very large in some cases but it is the best that can be given to them with the resources they receive from the tickets. In our very personal opinion we do not believe that sacrificing these animals is the best option. We prefer to donate and visit rather than sacrifice. Obviously, the zoo garden farm is not mandatory stop and we could skip it at the request of clients who do not wish to visit them as well as the other attractions on the itinerary.

Highlight: Best hike I have been on in a long time! The sleeping indian hike was challenging but very rewarding with a great view at the top.

Lowlight: I had no actual confirmation about the pickup time nor did they ask for my info until the night before when I reached out to the contact numbers and emails.

Pickup was at 8 am for me but it depends on your hotel. After pickup, we drove 2 hours to el Valle and it was a pretty easy drive. We first stopped at a museum to understand the area more (1 hour). After that we went straight to the hike. the hike was straight up and some parts you had to use both your feet and arms to get up. One at the top there is a complete view of the Valle. Coming down is a lot easier and you get to see a couple of waterfalls and an old map of the area that was etched into stone. after the hike (2-3 hours) we got lunch at a restaurant in town (1 hour). After lunch we then headed over to the hot springs which were not very impressive but were very welcomed after the hike (1 hour). Then we headed back to Panama City and got back around 7pm. Was a great experience all around and Mario was very nice! The driver was also very funny and the other guide was nice as well.

If you are not in good shape they have another option which was a walk to some waterfalls but I did not go on that part of it so I cannot speak about it. It only replaces the hike portion of my description and everything else still applies.

Had a great time on this tour. Mario picked us up promptly and gave us a lot of Panamanian information for the rest of our trip. We made a restroom stop and he bought us some authentic Panamanian snacks. Good stuff. The hike up was quite challenging and mind you we’ve hiked Rainbow Mountain, Mount Ulriken and Diamond head. I’m no real mountain climber so I think this was the most challenging but rewarding I’ve done at some points you felt like you were rock climbing. It’s beautiful view into El Valle de Anton. What a perfect little town. As we reached summit we were able to watch a rain storm come in. It was amazing to watch as it got closer and closer. It eventually caught us and soaked us. But your in a rainforest so who really cares if you get wet. The water fall was ok it was better for me just to get in to wash off my clothes.

I loved our lunch not a fancy place just a quick cheap delicious place. Hit the spot. The hot springs was good and good to relax at after that hike. The zoo was an ok experience. Mario seemed to have a bond with several of the animals which was great because we love animals. To this point I beg him to ask that place to do more with the coyote it’s cage is deplorable for that animal. It is scared and miserable and that’s mistreatment on the highest level. This is not Mario’s fault you can see he really enjoys animals there. Respond back and I’ll donate to help that coyote.

Had a great day. Highly recommend this tour,.
