        A great day!
They picked us up at our hotel on time in tuk tuk. We then arrived at Manifa elephant center where some of the people in our group needed to have breakfast, so we had to wait quite a bit. Our guide , 'Year', spoke a great english (he actually speaks 5 or 6 fluently) was well organized and kind. The kayaking was amazing, the scenery breathtaking. The caves were ok, but it was fun to get there kayaking and going back to Manifa for lunch also kayaking. The waterfalls are not to be missed. They are simply gorgeous! We took a ton of pictures. Really a great day that we highly recommend! :)

        Great hike
Had an amazing hike with the very knowledgeable, fun and inquisitive guide Mr Dang - would highly recommend as you get to hike through the Laos jungle for approx 13km and see so much of it that you might not otherwise

Multi-experience tour lasting the whole day! With an excellent guide!
We highly recommend this multi-sport experience! Our guide Vone did an excellent job from 830am to 600pm for us. Vone is very knowledgeable and was able to explain many aspects of culture (Whiskey Village, Buddha Cave, etc), History, Nature while being very good at bicycling and kayaking too. This tour is an excellent value because there are so many sights and experiences. The Elephant Camp is very interesting in terms of learning about and feeding elephants, plus it is functional with showers, towels and a pool. My husband and I both enjoyed the very tasty buffet lunch that offered vegetarian options, various meats (freshly grilled right next to the pavilion), fried foods for people who like that, fruits, etc. Vone was very generous in keeping us supplied with cold water bottles. Apparently this bike route is new and avoids the traffic from Luang Prabang. The Trek bikes were in excellent condition. If you are more fit than average we recommend you request the private tour because our only issue was being grouped with some soft city people who could hardly pedal. In fact Vone nicely organized a truck pickup for them and after that we could pedal at a good pace. Also Vone organized that we would not have to kayak with this unathletic family and we were very appreciative. During the sunset boat tour, Vone gave us cold beers, water and banana chips. It was a very full and active day!

**EXCELLENT** Cycling & Kayak to Pak Ou Caves with sunset cruise
Cycling & Kayak to Pak Ou Caves with sunset cruise - Manifa Travel. 2nd Feb 2024 Booking was easy on the website and confirmed quickly. The cost was €90 for 2 adults. Our tour guide contacted us the day before our tour to confirm our tour and hotel and to get our height to ensure the correct size bikes. Von, our tour guide, met us at our hotel at 8am on the day as arranged, with our bikes, helmets and water. We cycled through a few villages, stopping at the paper village, whiskey distilling and silk production areas. When we reached our lunch destination (described in the booking as a picnic lunch) - we were blown away by the venue. It’s an amazing elephant sanctuary on the banks of the Mekong river with the most amazing views. The BBQ buffet was incredible, literally all you can eat and drinks included (alcoholic or soft drinks). The boss of the venue, a lovely man, very kindly gave us a talk all about the elephants and the work done by the sanctuary to look after and protect the elephants. We saw them eating and playing in the river, we didn’t expect to see all this! What a bonus. Next we got the little bus down to the river for kayaking. Life jackets on. Personal stuff placed in a waterproof bag and secured in the kayak. Larger items can be stored in a locker at the lunch venue. 2-man kayaks were safe and comfortable. Von was very kind to take photos and videos of us in the water. We kayaked to the Pak Ou Caves. The entry fee is included. We spent around 30-mins wandering around looking at the caves with 1000 Buddhas, quite amazing! Be warned though, there are many steps. The views are amazing though. We kayaked back to the lunch venue, we had a cold beer (included in price) and we showered and changed (towels provided). We then walked a short distance through the village to get the boat back. The boat has undercover seating or chairs and loungers on the deck. Beers and snacks provided (also included). The cruise back was delightful. So calm and warm, we watched the sunset which was beautiful. Von took a lots of photos for us (and others on the boat). This tour is so well organised. Von’s knowledge and passion for his country is just delightful, what a credit he is. My review probably doesn’t do this tour justice, it really was a great day. Much, much more than we expected, easily a 5-star day. For the price we paid, it was such good value and we didn’t pay for another thing, apart from a well earned tip to our guide. Cycle approx 25-30kms Kayaking approx 90-mins Sunset cruise approx 90-mins

        Great experience!
This experience was amazing and I definitely recommend if you are in Luang Prabang and want to learn more about how locals plant rice. Sai was our guide and he explained all the processes to us from planting to eating sticky rice. It was a knowledgeable and fun experience :)

Main tourist company in Luang Prabang - ok but there's room for improvement
We did a half day Kuang Si waterfall and a full day elephant experience including riding and going to the water with one, Pack Ou caves and a "sunset" cruise. There's also a stop at a poor Hmong village and a sales stop in a "Whiskey" brewery (it's really rice liquor, not whiskey). Getting started takes an hour - they collect people at their hotels which takes time. We were once first and once last. Not all people in a car do the same activity so there's more reshuffling among people and cars. Overall they organized that well but it meant for 2-3 activities the whole day is used, and one goes through 2-3 guides and mixes with different groups throughout the day, which we didn't like. Guide quality is also mixed. We met a guide from a previous day whose English was excellent at Kuang Si waterfall - our guide just said "dangerous to go to highest point, don't go" and left us alone for 2 hours, didn't even enter. He should have said what the danger is and who should and who maybe shouldn't go. Lunch Buffet was excellent, great choice, especially also for vegetarians. Overall done pretty well but not 5 star due to issues

Great swift tour to waterfalls and Hmong village
Small group of 7 with hotel pickup, the guide Da was great. My fave was visiting the Hmong village and learning their history and lifestyle. There was markets there but understandably they want to sell goods for a living. The waterfall was breathtaking and I got to swim in the freezing blue water. We stopped by buffalo farm quickly to trial ice cream from their milk. Loved it - thanks Pepsi for smooth driving too!

        Brilliant tour guide
Absolutely fantastic. Perfect tour guide named Pouang (not sure how to spell it!) who was so knowledgeable and tailored the trip to us, a brilliant storyteller who could answer any question. He was patient and kind and really made the trip. The actual trip was lovely, not rushed and laid back. Perfect for those trying to see a lot of Luang Prabang in a day. Well worth the price. Thankyou!!

        Wonderful day with Mr. Thin
We spent a wonderful day exploring Luang Prabang and waterfalls with Mr. Thin. Our guide was not only very knowledgeable but also friendly and fun to deal with. He was very attentive to our suggestions and was extremely flexible. He went beyond his regular duties, for example helping us to book a boat trip for the next day. I am definitely recommend this tour with Mr. Thin to anyone who is going to Luang Prabang.

Amazing way to see Luang Prabang
This tour was perfect for us to learn about the history of Luang Prabang and Laos and to ensure we saw the main sites we were interested in. Our guide was amazing - knowledgeable, friendly and customized the tour to what we were most interested in. The driver was professional and safe. It is a long day, but I would definitely recommend this tour depending on the amount of time you are spending in the Luang Prabang. In addition, the tour company was easy to work with from booking to confirmation of our tour and time. Would recommend!

        Rice farmers for the day!
We loved our experience as ‘rice farmers’ and the guide was excellent. In fact it has been one of the best experiences that we have taken part in. The meal provided was plentiful and delicious. We also got a chance to have a go at extracting the sugar cane juice for drinks .. a bonus. We were each given a woven animal or bird from the elderly gentlemen who were weaving the items out of bamboo. The waterfalls were just beautiful. The pick ups and drop offs went to plan and kept up to speed with the plans for the day.

        Stunning Waterfalls
The waterfalls were absolutely stunning! We had 2 hours at the waterfall which is more than enough time to see all of the falls and go for a swim. Our tour guide Deng was very friendly and spoke excellent English. Pick up and drop off was very efficient. We stopped off at a Hmong village on the way back from the falls. Overall this tour is well worth the price.

Not really a tour. Taxi to falls - do yourself instead
I paid for a half day tour to the falls and then a local village. Would not describe this as a tour but pick up service that takes you to falls then says meet in 2 hours. We did not visit any village or museum and was just the falls. I think I should have just got a taxi there myself as there was no need for “a tour”!

Excellent driver, very happy We were picked up on time, clean comfortable vehicle I thought the price was very good, as we went to the waterfall, and our driver offered to stop at a few places on the way back also

        Nice Waterfall
The waterfall is worth the 30 minute ride over a road full of potholes. The stop at the Hmong village is just a tourist trap.

It was an excellent day, packing loads in! I definitely recommend, however the place we stopped at for lunch (the elephant 'retirement' retreat, Manifa) did elephant rides. One family on our trip had booked a ride and we all had to wait for them to finish, which was frustrating as I disagree with elephant riding. One disappointing part of an otherwise fantastic day. I hope they change the lunch venue.

Thank you for taking time to write a review here. We are pleased that you had an excellent time in our elephant camp. We hear too often about anti-elephant riding and It's a big problem for us that people from western countries do not want to ride an elephant. But the negative campaigns by animal rights activists are not true. A recent academic study looking at the stress indicator level (fecal glucocorticoid metabolite) in captive elephants conducted by researchers from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Unit, Chiang Mai University, and National Elephant Institute Thailand showed that captive elephants interacting with mahouts and performing daily exercise through riding had lower stress levels than elephants in passive viewing camps. Elephants are far stronger than horses, and a chair on an elephant’s back with two people and a mahout weighs only 7 percent of an elephant total body weight, whereas a saddle and rider on a horse weighs more than 17 percent of its weight. A few kilometers of light walking daily in jungle promotes health. It's as same as human jogging. There are some excellent articles introducing the latest elephant tourism problem on "skift.com". Our company homepage also has a good elephant FAQ written by a professional team supported by EU and Laos officials. Please read them and find the mistakes and lies of Animal Rights Activists. I hope you have a great onward journey from Luang Prabang. Thank you Yuki

Thoroughly enjoyed our full day tour with Manifa that took in the Whiskey Village, Mekong River cruise to Pak Ou cave, great lunch at their elephant camp, and Kiang Si falls and bear centre: pretty full day and excellent value at the price charged.

You can book a tour from your accommodation and Manifa provide a pickup and drop-off service to your accommodation. Guides all have pretty good English and trs vel is in comfortable mini-buses: they mix and match their tours so you may start out on one push with a certain group of people but end up with others over the course of the day. It all seems to work quite seamlessly.

A wonderful day and great value tour. Our guide Mr Pingpong was fantastic, very knowledgeable attentive, friendly and spoke good English. The van was very roomy and comfortable. After the hotel pickups we ventured out for about 45mins to the Hmong cultural village and then waterfalls and bear sanctuary. These stops were fantastic and one of the highlights of the day.

After a good amount of time at the waterfalls the van picked us back up and we traveled for around 80 minutes to the elephant sanctuary.
We saw one elephant up close before we ate lunch but it seemed to be well looked after (no chains or riding, but they are happy for you to feed and touch though). Lunch was a delicious buffet with a great selection of fantastic food including plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. A complimentary beverage is also included from a selection of soft drinks or beer.

After lunch we hopped onto the "slow boat" down the river for a few hours taking in the Pak Ou caves (for me, by far the most underwhelming part of the day, lots of steps up to a very small cave with a few statues. Experienced far better elsewhere and not worth the 200+ step climb while getting repeatedly harassed by children trying to sell you things)
The Whisky village was our last stop on the tour which offered an insight into the Laos whisky making process and some free samples. They were not particularly to my taste however the info provided was interesting with no pressure to buy, which was nice. There is also a small village market here too.
One final hop onto the boat (which had a toilet, free drinks inc cold water or beer plus some lovely complimentary banana chip snacks!)
This was possibly the best part of the day, sailing down the Mekong River heading straight for the sunset surrounded by incredible scenery. It was magical (if not a little cramped on the front of the boat)! I can highly recommend this very professional and friendly day tour for anybody wanting to see lots around the Lunag Prabang area in a single day.

He welcomed us heartily, explained everything in detail, and was very cheerful and joyful throughout the trip. We booked the tour from Manifa travels, and they are very professional with excellent tours at pocket-friendly prices.
Overall a great experience and very happy with the services provided. Highly recommended for all types of travellers.

We had Deng as our guide and we had a great day. We only had a short time in Luang Prabang so we booked a full day tour to see as many thing as we could. Our guide was able to explain everything as well as answer all of our questions. He was very accommodating to our requests and made sure we were happy the whole time. Eating lunch was amazing at the elephant camp as we got to feed the elephants and watch them play in the water. would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience a lot in 1 day.

Thanks for writing a review here. I'm glad you had a wonderful day and Deng took good care of you. This tour aims to provide the highlights of the countryside in one day. We are careful not to do large group tour and not to do too touristy tour. We hope all participants will enjoy and relax all day. Thank you for recommending Manifa Travel, and I hope you have a wonderful onward journey from Luang Prabang. Best Wishes, Yuki / Manifa Travel

From the very beginning of the days activities your are treated to details and local history by an experienced and passionate guide. The Laos people are warm and generous and it very noticeable throughout the days activities. The Mekong River is a visual treat with spectacular views and and a peaceful, relaxing, and comfortable boat ride to the caves. The rich history and spiritual meaning of this location to Buddhist saturates the experience and helps visitors from all countries to appreciate how deeply the local people feel towards this place. After a short boat ride to a local restaurant one is treated to a tasteful and diverse lunch with elephants just feet away during the dining treat, After a restful yet satisfying meal, you are taken by transport through a breathtaking scenic trip to the Kuang Si Waterfalls. I was moved by this truly stunning location full of rich natural wildlife, birds and local bear attractions. I strongly recommend this day of activity with memorable sites, sounds and cultural treats.

We had a very extensive experience during the tour which started very much on time. Our guide Mr Pingphong provided an impressive historical and cultural overview of the tour spots the entire time, and he's very fun to be with! The group was tired at the end of the trip but his energy kept us in high spirits.

Our itinerary started at the Hmong village and we were able to catch a glimpse of their culture. We were then taken to the bear conservation centre where we learnt about the rescue and rehab efforts for the moon bears. Kuangsi trek and waterfall followed, and as the group got excited to roam around Mr Pingphong was on top of making sure everyone was assembled nicely at the end of it. He also took us to nice photo spots and took our photos. Lunch was at manifa elephant camp where we had an amazing selection of buffet food waiting for us PLUS beerlao! Our last two stops were Pak Ou caves and whisky village which were my personal favourites. Took two bottles home after having shared shots with Mr Pong and the group.

It was a tiring but enriching experience and I'm grateful that we got to do this tour, especially under Mr Pong

In short, I can highly recommend this tour.

As written in the website, in the morning, we visited several places such as Mong tribe village, Kuangsi Waterfall, and had a buffet lunch while watching and touching elephants at the elephant camp. In the afternoon, we took a cruise on the Mekong River to Pak Ou Caves. Along the way, we will also visit a village that makes shochu and whiskey from sticky rice. The beautiful sunset over the Mekong River from the boat was a special experience.

I think this is a tour where you can fully enjoy the charm of Luang Prabang, or rather, Laos. I think this price is very cost-effective as it includes everything from pick-up by car, lunch, various entrance fees, and cruise fee.

Our guide, Mr. Phong, was also very friendly and spoke English that was easy for Japanese people to understand. I think he was very knowledgeable about Laos’s culture and history.

I would like to take this tour again when my family comes in the future.

This half day tour was more than just a Mekong River cruise. We were driven to Manifa elephant camp for a tasty lunch and opportunities to feed the mother and calf elephant. Our tour guide Mr Pingpong was friendly and funny, able to remember everyone's names! He shared interesting facts about the river and it's importance to the people of Laos, before we visited the Pak Ou caves full of thousands of Buddha statues. We also visited a Lao-Lao whisky making village where he explained the process of making rice whisky; and where there are also handicrafts for sale; before we cruised down the river to Luang Prabang to watch the sunset with a complimentary beer and banana chips. A great value tour, made all the better by the guide.

Overall, the tour was fine. It was great for covering all of the destinations on the itinerary but the guide only gave information at some places so I didn’t come away really feeling like I learnt much about the waterfalls and the caves other than getting to see them. The information the guide did give at the traditional village and the whiskey village was good. We were provided additional drinks on the tour which did make me feel like it was more of a fair price for what we got. Great if you have limited time in Luang Prabang or if you don’t want to haggle with guides once you’ve arrived.
