        Great tour
We had a great private full day tour of Luang Prabang with Mr Thin. The national museum was made more interesting by all the information given by Mr Thin. We visited the well known temples and had some nice lunch next to the river. I would highly recommend doing a private tour so you can see this laid back destination at your own pace and ask all the questions you want.

        Fantastic
An excellent opportunity to learn how to grow rice and everything else regarding the product of the rice from seed to mouth. Sai was a terrific guide who kept us informed throughout.

        Professional company
This is a bit of a different review. We booked with Manifa Travel to do the mountain biking and kayaking whole day tour. Manifa picked us up on time and our guide Kone was very happy and informative. We set out biking and had the wonderful knowledge of Kone explaining what we were seeing on the route. Unfortunately my partner fell from his bike down a rocky slope and grazed both his knees. He was bleeding a lot and Kone immediately checked on him and administered basic first aid then he phoned for the car where two other members came and assisted us with more first aid and to take us to the local hospital where my partner received 5 stitches in his knee. The whole time Kone and the team at Manifa Travels were so supportive and caring for the both of us. They are a very professional company and even though our day did not go as planned, we are glad we booked with them. We are very thankful for how they cared for my partner.

        Don't bother going!
Not worth the time, money or effort Boring falls below, 600 steps up to NO view. Don't bring a bathing suit or towel....no one in the water, no place to do it. Best part was watching my driver help the locals fix the bridge so we could cross it! Very can-do guide...

        Worth the day!
My favorite tour - we used Manifa tour in 2 of our activities in Laos. Ou tour guide, Poang, was exceptional from guiding us in merging rivers of Mekong River and Nan Ao River. Climbing the steps to cave temples were worth it, and swimming the Kuang Si Waterfalls was refreshing! The elephants were available during our lunch break too. It’s high activity day!

Good Value Fun Informative Well organised
This was my favourite trip so far travelling in Asia, Chai the guide had incredible knowledge about the rivers and caves. The kayak part was beautiful peaceful and the views were out of this world. I have never been in a kayak before but it was quite easy. The caves are breath taking and the history was very intresting. We had a tasty and well prepared buffet lunch with a lot of choice where the elephants were walking around freely. The Waterfalls were stunning and not to busy late afternoon. We visited a small Tribe on the way back which will stay with me forever. the bus was clean and felt safe with the travel as the roads are bumpy

        Great Travel and Tour Company
We did two tours with Manifa. The first one being an all day tour seeing Kuang Si Falls and other areas and the second being a half day elephant camp tour. Both were wonderful and we had the same tour guide both days. He was very patient with our group, friendly and knowledgeable. We had lunch at the elephant camp both days and the food was great. I love sugar cane and asked if I could have some and they cut me some without any hesitation! The elephants are well cared for and not abused. I would definitely recommend this travel company to others.

        An amazing experience
Manifa is maybe the best travel agencies I used in S E Asia. They are very professional. We traveled almost everywhere in the country, 10 days. They have new cars, professional drivers. Lahthe is the best guide I met there. He has experience, he knows everything. I strongly recommend Manifa.

        An insightful experience
The Living Land Farm experience is super insightful and it was very interesting to learn about rice farming with our own hands. Our guide, Johnny, was kind, captivating, humorous, and did a great job putting everything we did into perspective. On top of the rice farming, we also experienced bamboo weaving and sugar cane juicing. We had lunch, too, which showcased some traditional laotian meals with rice, and it was absolutely delicious! Additionally, they provided a tuktuk transfer to and from our hostel, and we were allowed to store our big luggage at the farm during our stay there. Overall great experince.

Big attraction that is still worth a visit
Big tourist attraction that is still worth a visit. Getting there: There are many minivans and buses and scooters that leave from Luang Prabang and park in purpose built carpark. You have to park here. Access: Tickets have to be purchased before everyone takes electric minivans to a central area (coffee shops etc) before there’s short walk up through the forests to a series on beautiful limestone falls. Swimming: You can swim in most of the falls but not the top, most significant fall. Is it worth it? Yes. Even on a busy day like I went the waterfalls are beautiful and do bring your swimming gear because the water is wonderful and cooling.

Lovely waterfalls- mixed feelings about overall “tour”
The waterfall was very impressive—beautiful green water and multiple cascading falls. The Hmong Village was full of interesting and beautiful crafts. But it was more of a ride to the waterfall and a stop at a tourist village to buy souvenirs than a “tour”. The guide didn’t have a lot of information to share like many tours I’ve been on. Also the driver was very aggressive and there were a couple of times I didn’t feel safe.

Nice chance to discover Laos countryside day life
Nice biking tour if you don’t set your expectations too high. We encountered native Laos villages and connected with locals. If you’re only interested in mountain biking and doing trails then don’t book this. Bikes are OK and the track is quite steep at some points but not as killing as some wrote (my wife managed this so it’s doable;). Provision of water and showers and great lunch after the trip.

Jumped in this trip last minute and did not regret it. For a day trip, it included some of the best attractions around Luang Prabang - Hmong Village, waterfalls, s nice buffet lunch on the Mekong riverside, sunset cruise with stops at Pak Ou Caves and the rive whiskey village. I would probably spend. The wiskhey village could perhaps be sacrificed for additional time at the waterfalls, and perhaps it would be better not to use the elephant as a tourist attraction at the restaurant (the elephant seemed cared for and there was an attendant at all times to supervise her while she roamed freely in the garden, but I doubt she appreciated all that publicity and people grouping around her). All in all, a good trip anyway, the highlight of which was our skillful guide Mr Pingpong, who not only cared for us at all times, but also made sure that we enjoyed the trip by lightening the atmosphere and by giving interesting explanations about everything we saw. At an average of 45$ per person, I'd say the trip is a good investment.

Thank you for writing a review and had a trip with us. I would like to explain the elephant camp where you stopped for lunch. The elephants at the elephant camp do not work for tourism all day. Behind the camp is a large forest of several hundred hectares that is dedicated to the elephants. The elephants can eat natural plants and have plenty of time to interact with each other in the forest and the Mekong River. Many peer-reviewed papers have pointed out that working for tourists in the right environment has a positive impact on animal welfare. Interacting with tourists and elephant ridings through has been proven to be good exercise and reduce stress for elephants. In many facilities that advocate the freedom of elephants, where people are not allowed to interact with the elephants, it has been reported that the elephants become bored from not doing anything, show high stress levels, and develop metabolic syndrome due to lack of exercise. (In these facilities, caretakers are required to exercise and interact with the elephants when there are no tourists, but this is often not done properly.) Tourism also provides employment opportunities for local people who have traditionally taken care of elephants and contributes to the preservation of traditional techniques. People tend to focus only on elephants, but when considering the overall conservation of elephants, it is considered essential to develop people who will take care of elephants for the future. In Western society, the claims of activists who are radically critical of elephant tourism seem to be supported, but there is no academic basis for this. We hope you understand that we are committed to promoting responsible tourism and ensuring the sustainability of the traditional relationship between elephants and humans, both in the nature and culture of Laos.

An amazing day trip with wonderful guides! It was all incredibly well-organised starting with a pick-up at our hotel. We were given 2 hours free time at the waterfall which was stunning - I would recommend going up the steps to the viewpoint (there is a cost of 30,000 Kip but this includes a soft drink at the cafe so very much worth it!) It’s about 600 steps though so be prepared! The lunch buffet was delicious (and a great selection for everyone) and the cruise and caves were spectacular. Very highly recommended. Just one small tip - the journey in the bus is about 90 mins and the road is very uneven - if you are prone to travel sickness take a tablet before you go!

We had an great time on this trip, which we spread out over two half-day visits. The mix of travelers in our group made the experience even better, as we got to meet people from different places and share our journey.

The Kuang Si Waterfalls were absolutely stunning. The walk to the falls is peaceful, with plenty of shade to keep cool in the heat. However, it’s a very popular spot, so be prepared for a lot of tourists—it can be tricky to get a photo without other people in the background.

The Mekong River cruise was another highlight. The ride was calm and offered beautiful views of the natural landscape along the way. Visiting the Pak Ou Caves was a unique experience, giving us insight into the Buddhist culture of Laos. The sheer number of Buddha statues inside the caves was fascinating to see.

To top it all off, the sunset cruise back to Luang Prabang was breathtaking. The golden hues reflecting on the Mekong River made for some incredible photo opportunities.

Overall, this trip was a great way to experience the beauty and culture of Laos, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Luang Prabang!

An exceptionally good day that packed a lot in - the Kuang Si falls were spectacular (top tip - walk to the top of the falls & to ‘The View’ cafe for a quieter experience; the treetop cafe charges 30kip for entry but this includes a free drink so isn’t bad!), the Pak Ou caves incredible, albeit super busy, and the cultural village an interesting view (though I find these places kind of hard work at the best of times; the pressure to buy because everyone is so poor is tough). The whisky tasting was great, and the whisky super cheap so well worth it. The whole boat ride was actually stunning.

A couple of minor down sides - the van ride of 80 mins to get to lunch was painful, and do remember to bring motion sickness tablets if you need them as you’re pretty packed in on bumpy roads. The lunch buffet was also quite bland and would benefit from some spicy sauce or something!

All in all though, a great value and highly enjoyable day out. Our trip was absolutely made by guide Mr PingPong, who’s got a fascinating history as he was previously a monk. His English was fantastic and he kept everyone in great spirits and very enthusiastic. What a great guy!

This would be one of the best value guided one day excursions I have ever had. Cost-wise it was about US$50.

We were picked up by a minivan at around 8 am to go on a luxury day trip. We picked up other people then went out to the famous waterfall at Kuang Si

It looked a bit touristy with dozens of minivans in the car park but turned out to be a marvellous spot with amazing waterfalls. Phil and I opted to walk up some steps which turned out to be about 1 million steps up to a treehouse with great vintage points across the countryside. It was a little bit like Enid Blyton’s Faraway Tree.

Under descending, we walked down past the various ponds and waterfalls to a spot where it was able to be accessed for a quick dip. The water was exactly the right cool temperature after a hot walk up the hill. Heavenly.

Then we were summoned back to the van where we took a long drive back to Luang Prabang and onward towards the lunch stop. This drive turned bumpy dusty and quite uncomfortable and we were quite happy to get to the lunch which was a resort on the Mekong River. Great food, free booze and then onto the boat for a trip up the river to the Pak Ou Ting caves

More steps to climb, but we enjoyed looking at the upper and lower caves which were lined with 4000 Buddha statues. Back on the boat and down the river to a place that makes Mekong whiskey and a demonstration. Plus tasting. 👍

Finally onto the boat again for the last leg back to Luang Prabang. Our brilliant guide, his name was PhingPong liberally shared out shots of whisky and beer with accompanying snacks. He really was the most accomplished tour leader.

The river trip back was amazing as the sunset was pretty decent with photo ops galore. And in particular a train crossing the new Chinese railway bridge that straddles the river. I managed to get a great video of this.

I thought the price was very reasonable for visiting all the major tourist spots in Luang Prabang that are not reachable on foot in one day. If you meet up with this tour after the begging, you can spend the rest of the day walking around the city and be very satisfied. The buffet lunch on the way is delicious, and you can have as many free bottles of beer as you like. After that, you board the boat, which has toilets. You can try some strong liquor for free at the whiskey factory, and beer is served on the boat to the disbanding point. You can drink a lot, so I recommend it to those who like alcohol. There are limited spaces on the boat, and depending on the time of day, you may be exposed to a lot of direct sunlight, so please be careful if this is a concern.

It met expectations, I wanted to simplify the theme of looking for logistics on my own and here I not only simplified it but also got a little history and traditions that Mr. Pingpong told us. I don't speak English, but I could understand the references the guide gave and when I needed the translator he had patience in helping me.
It is great to have 2hs in the waterfall and the canoe trip to watch the sunset is a perfect snap. It would improve the place where we had lunch because the food was cold and tasteless.
      I recommend it!

A wonderful day and great value tour. Our guide Mr Pingpong was fantastic, very knowledgeable attentive, friendly and spoke good English. The van was very roomy and comfortable. After the hotel pickups we ventured out for about 45mins to the Hmong cultural village and then waterfalls and bear sanctuary. These stops were fantastic and one of the highlights of the day.

After a good amount of time at the waterfalls the van picked us back up and we traveled for around 80 minutes to the elephant sanctuary.
We saw one elephant up close before we ate lunch but it seemed to be well looked after (no chains or riding, but they are happy for you to feed and touch though). Lunch was a delicious buffet with a great selection of fantastic food including plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. A complimentary beverage is also included from a selection of soft drinks or beer.

After lunch we hopped onto the "slow boat" down the river for a few hours taking in the Pak Ou caves (for me, by far the most underwhelming part of the day, lots of steps up to a very small cave with a few statues. Experienced far better elsewhere and not worth the 200+ step climb while getting repeatedly harassed by children trying to sell you things)
The Whisky village was our last stop on the tour which offered an insight into the Laos whisky making process and some free samples. They were not particularly to my taste however the info provided was interesting with no pressure to buy, which was nice. There is also a small village market here too.
One final hop onto the boat (which had a toilet, free drinks inc cold water or beer plus some lovely complimentary banana chip snacks!)
This was possibly the best part of the day, sailing down the Mekong River heading straight for the sunset surrounded by incredible scenery. It was magical (if not a little cramped on the front of the boat)! I can highly recommend this very professional and friendly day tour for anybody wanting to see lots around the Lunag Prabang area in a single day.

This tour is highly recommended. We were met in the morning punctually by our tour guide Mr. Ping pong received. We immediately started to the waterfalls where we had 2 hours to explore the area or to swim. Along the way, Mr. Pingpong told us a lot about country and people and guided us wonderfully through the day. After the waterfalls we drove to the boat landing where we had a very delicious lunch with many vegetarian options. Here you could also feed bananas to an elephant. Actually, such activities are not for me.But the elephant was neither chained, nor did it have chain marks or was conducted with a stick. So it was a nice experience to pass the bananas to the peaceful thick-skinned man. Then we went by boat to the caves. Here you could admire thousands of Buddha statues. After that there was a short, unobtrusive stop in the whisky village- one was neither animated to drink nor to buy and could listen to how this whisky art is produced. The day then ended with a wonderful drive back on the Mekong, where you could enjoy the sunset with a cool Coke (who liked also got a beer) and snacks. All in all a beautiful and recommended tour!

We split the tour over 2 days, in retrospect a very good option because you don't have to process too many new impressions in one day. Even in the weather you can be unlucky in one day, so we had once sun and once cloudy. Except for the whisky tasting, which seems very commercialized (by the way, liquor with animals in it may not be imported to Europe at least) it was a great experience, which we gladly recommend. I also missed a visit to the village. The Pak Ou caves are a challenge due to many high steps, which especially older people could not necessarily rise to. Especially the lunch break at the elephant camp, was a great surprise. The waterfalls are a dream, absolutely also visit the butterfly park halfway down. The driver stops there on request and another then picks you up again. Entrance fee of $5 for this is not included, but very worthwhile. The tour took place with more people than the mentioned 9-15.

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
