          Best experience in Bali
My daughter and I absolutely recommend doing this cooking class with Putu! This was the nicest meal I ate in Bali and we ate at a lot of upper class restaurants. All ingredients are grown on Putu’s organic farm, including the oil they use, the rice, potatoes, all herbs and spices and the chickens we ate. The meal left you feeling nourished. I wish I could eat like this everyday. It was so much fun cooking with my daughter and Putu and her neice. I loved this experience and I can’t wait to return to Bali to do it again. Highly recommend this experience. Worth every cent.

          Very special experience.
What a great experience! I’ve done a cooking class in Ubud before, but this one was one is by far the most interesting one. Our host Putu and her husband picked us up from the hotel and briefed us on how locals live. We then went to their beautiful home where she showed us around (this was very special to us!). We learnt about their traditions as well. The cooking class was very well set up. Everything was tidy and neat, and instructions clear. The food we were guided to cook was very delicious. We were taught step by step how to prepare 5 different dishes. Putu is very generous and shared some home made products with us as well. We will be definitely recommending this class to our friends and we will be back one day. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

          Amazing and authentic experience
We had such an amazing and authentic time with Putu, and we were honoured to be invited into her home. Putu and her family grow almost all of the ingredients for your meal at their farm, including the chicken, and Putu is an excellent chef and teacher. She is patient and kind, and we were blessed to have gotten to know her today.

          Highly highly recommended!
What an amazing experience! When you visit Bali, you see beautiful traditional houses with stunning gardens and family temples, which makes you wonder what each of them stands for. We enjoyed all the conversations with Putu, an amazing host, learned everything we were curious about. After the garden tour, where they grow everything from rice, avocado, mango, papaya, snake fruits, coconut, cacao, passion fruits, peanut, gingers, chickens, ducks, we started the cooking of 5 course meal, all using the ingredients from the garden. All the foods and the experience was amazing! Worth all the penny and highly recommend for anybody who love culture and cooking.

          Best experience in Bali
We absolutely loved this experience. Putu and her niece were so lovely. Her home and farm were beautiful. All of the food is from her garden and it tasted delicious. Such a great experience. Will come back and do this again next time we are in Bali. Would love to eat food like this every night of the week! So healthy and delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

          The best cooking class EVER!!
What an experience. Putu and her husband made this tour so memorable. From the moment they picked us up Putu was so kind and accomodating. We enjoyed breakfast from their local market and she served it in her home with coffee. We cooked 6 traditional dishes one was a bonus dish because we mentioned we loved a water spinach dish we tried at a Warung. Putu grabbed some from the market while we were there to cook the dish for us. After we ate the amazing food at her home we toured her lovely garden. Luckily, we had the pleasure of seeing her village temple where once a year they have a celebration for the farmers. Putu took us with her for the blessing ceremony. The whole experience felt so personalised & we even took all the left overs for dinner!! I cannot explain how special this whole thing was & it’s an experience I’ll never forget. I will be coming to visit again in their villa once it’s built and doing the class next time I’m in Bali definitely!!!

Authentic experience with a Balinese family
I decided to go with Putu’s lesson due to the reviews I read. I wanted an authentic experience in a Balinese house, and I was not disappointed. I was the only one on the experience and it was fantastic to have a one to one lesson. Putu and her husband collected me from my hotel in Ubud, and I felt totally at ease. I was welcomed into their beautiful home and was given information about their temple, and home itself. How the Balinese people live, which was really interesting. The cooking was relaxed, with fresh, organic ingredients. Sadly I had had a big breakfast, but I sampled my food, and brought the rest back with me for my husband and a friend…who loved it! Highly recommend.

          Amazing Experience. Gluten-Free Approved!
Putu was amazing! We learned so much and she was so welcoming to us. This was my favorite activity in Ubud by far! Putu is very kind, and knowledgeable. She knew our names after our first introduction, and she was very personable. The entire meal except one dish was gluten-free. I have a sensitivity to gluten and i did not mention this to her before, and she was able to accommodate the one part of the meal to make it gluten free for me! We had such a wonderful time. I can’t recommend this experience enough!

          Best cooking class in Bali!
Putu’s private cooking class was such an amazing experience. She was very hospitable and was really good at explaining everything. We got the chance to learn about their culture and how and why their homes are built the way they are. My family and I cooked a 5 course authentic Indonesian meal in an outdoor kitchen and she was kind enough to let us try a variety of exotic fruits that was freshly grown from her farm. All the meals we cooked were ingredients her family had grown in their farm. You truly get a taste of their culture and I highly recommend taking this class.

Norman, the owner of BagasTour, was my driver for 3 days during my December 2023 stay in Bali. He speaks very good English, drives an air conditioned vehicle and is very knowledgeable about the area and various temples and destinations. Several times, he suggested waterfalls and other sites that really enhanced the days of sightseeing. He is an Ubud native, and on the day we first met, he very kindly assigned his dad to return me to my hotel on the spot, since I did not know how to get there.

Collected from hotel by host, driven to local area north of Ubud. Shown the local area, explained how food is grown/collected. Taken to local Balinese homestead to find out about family life and then prepared a 5 course meal before eating. Was a great experience, the host was super friendly and welcoming with a great outlook on life. Would have liked to spend more time with him. Highly recommend!

Dont go through these guys as you will be ripped off almost 3 x the price as others.Expect to pay around $50-$55 AUD for this not $120-130 like these guys charge.
The tour itself is fantastic and its a shame they dont receive all of these funds.

Dear Chantel, We think this review relates to the same guest booking we just responded to and received a day before yours. We we so disappointed to hear about your experience with the pricing. The price for this private experience that includes a garden tour, cooking class, meal, alcohol and pick-up and drop-off on our partner Viator's platform and on our own website has not changed in over a year and is much lower than what you were charged. Please email us at reservations@travelingspoon.com and we can help you resolve this with Viator. Sincerely, Aashi

Dear traveler, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we are glad that you had a wonderful experience, we are so disappointed that you feel you overpaid for this experience. The price for this private experience that includes a garden tour, cooking class, meal, alcohol and pick-up and drop-off on our partner Viator's platform (or on our website) has not changed in over a year and almost 100% of our guests have left 5-star reviews. At Traveling Spoon our hosts set their own pricing and receive 100% of the pricing they set; we markup the experience, typically substantially less than the industry average, to cover our business costs. We have hosts all over the world and do markup our experiences so that we can provide our offering of finding the best home cooks all over the world so travelers can experience authentic culinary experiences. Prices do vary depending on the number of people in the group as the price of transport is amortized over the number of people. However, I'm not sure why you were charged $126 AUD - that per person price is much higher than what our current listing on Viator shows. Please email us at reservations@travelingspoon.com and we can help you resolve this with Viator. Sincerely, Aashi

This was hands down one of the best things we did on our Honeymoon, and one of the best cooking class we have ever done. This is so much more than a cooking class, we spent the whole day with Dewa and his family learning all about his life, his village, and life in Bali. Dewa is so incredibly kind, and knowledgable you will love spending time with him. The food we made was delicious, and healthy, and Dewa gave us a handmade journal for us to write the recipes down in. We got a full look at Dewa's village, and got to see exactly where all of our food was coming from. We loved this and cannot recommend it enough.

Thank you so much Dewa for all your kindness, we loved spending time with you and your family!

Do not hesitate to book this “cooking class.” Yes you will make several incredibly tasty and surprisingly simple Balinese recipes. But the experience is so much more than food based. Dewa is a kind and intelligent man who also teaches you about history, his village, their spiritual beliefs (not religion) and family home life. It is totally fascinating and presented in a generous and open manner. Dewa graciously answers all questions and allows you to photograph his absolutely beautiful home with its temple, plant life, koi and living areas. Spending time in their village home is a highlight of this amazing experience. The food we created under their guidance was delicious and we were given a notebook where Dewa told us all the ingredients and methods so we can try to duplicate these dishes at home. Absolutely book this. It was one of the very best experiences we have had while traveling and that is saying a lot.

This was an absolutely stunning experience. Visiting Petu's family home and seeing her garden and rice fields, then cooking a 5 course meal, absolutely made my holiday. I've been to Ubud 3 times and this was the least touristy thing I have experienced. I was even shown around the family temple.

Petu provided great cooking instructions and guided me through every dish. Her niece helped do prep and cleaning etc so everything was very organised and we made excellent time.

I can't recommend this enough. The food was so good and recipes are provided via whatsapp at the end of the experience.

There is so much food. Make sure you go hungry! And you will be given take away leftovers if you're keen.
