- annax44100Peaceful and pleasant afternoon with Putu and her familyI really enjoyed my time with Putu, and I highly recommend this experience! I heard about this from a friend, who highly recommended it to me and said that it was lovely way to spend an afternoon near Ubud with Putu and learn how to cook Balinese food. Her family member picked me up at the place I was staying near Ubud (and dropped me off later) and arrived at her family's home. She was very warm and welcoming, and gave me some fresh young coconut water and Balinese snacks to enjoy while we chatted. Putu has many years of experience cooking for her entire family and Indonesian restaurants. The cooking class was awesome! She has great English and was a great teacher! Everything was super organized and clean! All of the ingredients, including vegetables, meats, and sauces, were portioned out beforehand and she was really clear in explaining how to prepare and cook each dish, and giving me adjustments and encouragement! I enjoy cooking at home, and I gained confidence cooking some of the Balinese dishes that I had been eating in restaurants. After cooking, I enjoyed eating all of the dishes for a late lunch, and some of the versions of the dishes that we made were more delicious than what I had eaten in the local restaurants. I took a box to-go to enjoy later for dinner, and I was happy to be eating that compared to the food offered at the place I was staying. If I have the opportunity to go back to Bali, I will definitely want to take another cooking class with Putu! She said that if you cook with her more than once, she changes and customizes the menu so that you are learning new things. This is a memorable and comfortable way to spend an afternoon in Bali!
- Dena S00Great experience, highly recommendWe really enjoyed the cooking class! They were so helpful during the stay. It’s a very interesting experience, if you like to learn about new cultures. And if you like to cook, you will learn some fun tips and tricks in the kitchen. For example, we’re very excited to make our own peanut sauce from now on. The host is very knowledgeable, and helpful. She speaks excellent English. He’s husband Pasta is very nice. We highly recommend adding this experience to your Bali checklist.
- 457georgias00Great class and genuine cultural experienceWe did this class as part of our honeymoon and really enjoyed it. Putu’s English is excellent and she was really clear in her explanations. She’s an incredibly impressive woman who has built a business from nothing, and it was amazing to hear her story too. We were shown around her house and family temple, learning a lot about Balinese culture and religion, as well as getting to try new fruits and herbs. Most of what you cook with is grown in their own family garden, which is really nice. The food was plentiful. We made five savoury dishes - rice with sweet potato, fried tempeh, a salad, satay and corn cakes. We left incredibly full and with takeaway boxes! I don’t eat chilli but my husband did, and this was catered for, which was the big plus for us over a larger group cooking class where food is shared. She also sent us really thorough instructions via WhatsApp to recreate everything we’d made at home. Ladies - to note, you will be asked if you’re menstruating before you enter the family temple (as it’s not permitted by their religion for women to enter on their period) which I wasn’t expecting! Not an issue, but just something to be aware of. The class is expensive for Ubud and there are plenty of cheaper options, but it’s absolutely worth it.
- EmmyHJ00A MUST DO in BaliThis was hands down one of the best things we did on our Honeymoon, and one of the best cooking class we have ever done. This is so much more than a cooking class, we spent the whole day with Dewa and his family learning all about his life, his village, and life in Bali. Dewa is so incredibly kind, and knowledgable you will love spending time with him. The food we made was delicious, and healthy, and Dewa gave us a handmade journal for us to write the recipes down in. We got a full look at Dewa's village, and got to see exactly where all of our food was coming from. We loved this and cannot recommend it enough. Thank you so much Dewa for all your kindness, we loved spending time with you and your family!
- alibM4292JM00Best thing we did in Ubud!Putu welcomed us into her family home on the last night of our trip to Ubud. I didn’t think our trip could get any better but she gave us a night we will never forget! We thought it was a simple cooking class but it was so much more. It felt like coming home. She gave us a brief tour of her family, garden and her home, which is STUNNING. Then to the cooking class, which was so much fun. Putu should have her own cooking show, she is funny, kind, and extremely clever. We were a group of 8 friends, she asked us our names once and never had to be reminded, she remembered them all night! She and her family could fit right in comfortably with any group of people. She really made us feel like family. And the open-air kitchen, with its open grill and wood fired stoves was charming and comfy. And the food we made… oh my goodness it was the best meal we ate in Bali!! I learned about so many new fruits, vegetables, and spices that are all apparently available in my local Asian market. I can’t wait to recreate Putu’s recipes back in the states. I could go on and on about how perfect this experience was. We will definitely be back to visit Putu and her husband Pasta when we return to Ubud. 10/10 Can not miss!!!
- Tiffany W00Take the class! :)Words cannot describe how amazing this experience was. Putu brought us into her beautiful home and was so incredibly hospitable. The cooking class was super fun and what’s really cool is that she sends you the recipes after the class is over. Don’t think twice, just book the class! You won’t regret it! Just make sure you come hungry because there’s a lot of food! 😄
- Drewskee80800Selamat Makan!!!Phenomenal experience! Putu & her family created an unforgettable evening. Opening their lovely home to us. Sharing their culture & cuisine. A truly farm to table dinning experience. Do yourself a favor and book your course now!
- coreyr82100⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Culinary and Cultural ExperienceMy cooking class with Putu was an amazing cultural and culinary experience. From the pick up to drop off everything was well organized and explained. Putu made me feel like family and showed me step by step how to prepare the ingredients and create an amazing meal. Almost all of the ingredients were grown on the family farm. I especially enjoyed the tour of her family home and garden. They even provided to-go boxes to take home all of my extra food. If you are looking for an authentic cultural Balinese cooking class this is the one for you!
- travelgirl21600Exceptional food & culture experienceDo not hesitate to book this “cooking class.” Yes you will make several incredibly tasty and surprisingly simple Balinese recipes. But the experience is so much more than food based. Dewa is a kind and intelligent man who also teaches you about history, his village, their spiritual beliefs (not religion) and family home life. It is totally fascinating and presented in a generous and open manner. Dewa graciously answers all questions and allows you to photograph his absolutely beautiful home with its temple, plant life, koi and living areas. Spending time in their village home is a highlight of this amazing experience. The food we created under their guidance was delicious and we were given a notebook where Dewa told us all the ingredients and methods so we can try to duplicate these dishes at home. Absolutely book this. It was one of the very best experiences we have had while traveling and that is saying a lot.
- 218trinad00Stunning, fascinating cooking experienceThis was an absolutely stunning experience. Visiting Petu's family home and seeing her garden and rice fields, then cooking a 5 course meal, absolutely made my holiday. I've been to Ubud 3 times and this was the least touristy thing I have experienced. I was even shown around the family temple. Petu provided great cooking instructions and guided me through every dish. Her niece helped do prep and cleaning etc so everything was very organised and we made excellent time. I can't recommend this enough. The food was so good and recipes are provided via whatsapp at the end of the experience. There is so much food. Make sure you go hungry! And you will be given take away leftovers if you're keen.
- Samdunbar9300Best lunch in Ubud! This was an amazing cooking class with Putu! She is an amazing host and great at taking the class creating a relaxed environment! The food was so tasty and making five dishes was great as we got to taste a full range of flavours! We left feeling very full! Highly recommend!
- kikipedroso00Fun activity for large groups! This was such a fun experience for our group of 7 friends! We all worked together chopping, mixing, frying, laughing and drinking beer! We all took turns at the grill and even the vegetarians could not resist trying the chicken satay! Highly recommend this as a last meal to round out your Bali trip. Food we delicious with ingredients from the garden! Corn fritters and sambal matah were my favorite! Would definitely go back! Thanks Putu and Pasta!
- Sightseer4769967993400My New Balinese Family away from HomeThis was the highlight of our trip. Putu made us feel like family even though we were so far away from home. The recipes are something I will take home with me and make for my own family. It was such an amazing experience learning Balinese culture through their delicious food! I would recommend this to anyone in Ubud. They even provided transportation!

- Z4917FBwilliamd00A night to remember!Putu and her family were so amazing! It was great to feel so welcomed in her home. There were 7 of us in total and the class felt so easy to follow despite being a larger group. Putu was gracious, patient and so accommodating. This was especially necessary in our diverse group! I’m grateful to Putu for fully immersing us in Balinese culture and cuisine. This was the highlight of my trip and I cannot wait to return to Bali, just to experience this again! 10/10, 5 stars, 100, A+ We love you Putu and Pasta! -Will D.

We had such an incredible time with Putu! She and her husband picked us up from our villa in Ubud for a local market tour where we were actually the only tourists. We then headed to her village where she gave us a tour of her home temple and beautiful property. Putu gave us a very in-depth overview of Bali culture and customs and was happy to answer all our questions about Bali life.
Putu’s class was so intentionally put together—not only was the food amazing but we felt very engaged throughout because she was such an attentive host and teacher. I do cooking classes all the time when I travel but I can honestly say this was one of the best travel experiences I have had. I would highly recommend this activity if you are looking for an authentic, local Bali experience.

This was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip! Puta was so amazingly kind and knowledgeable about traditional Balinese food, culture and traditions and for me as a nutritionist it was so much fun to get to know all the local food and cooking techniques. It was also such an honour to see a traditional Balinese home and to be welcomed in such a beautiful and kind way. I would most definitely recommend it to absolutely everyone. Even my husband who isn’t a massive cook really enjoyed the experience. If you are thinking of doing it at all, just get booked in right now!

We enjoyed the market tour and cooking class. We went to a small local market and Putu our host explained different varieties of fruits, vegetables, snacks and offerings for purchase. She purchased us some fresh items to try at her home.
At the home we prepared 5 traditional dishes. The class is very hands-on and we were able to prepare and cook all ingredients under Putu's instruction and to our own preferred spiciness. We were supplied with drinks in the morning and the afternoon. We were not required to do any cleaning.
We tried all the foods and took home some leftovers in a takeaway box.
Pickup from our hotel was easy, we confirmed this by WhatsApp directly to Putu - her number was on the emailed ticket which was a little difficult to find at first.
Putu speaks great English and was able to converse about many aspects of Balinese life.

We had a lovely time with Putu and would highly recommend this experience. We were picked up from our hotel and driven to the local market in Putu's area. She explained the local produce and purchased food that we used in our cooking. Our favourite part of this market was the sticky rice and palm sugar treats (delicious) purchased. We were taken to Putu's family home and given a tour. We also ate fresh fruit, tea & coffee and the delicious treats (from the market) before moving to the cooking area to cook. We had a fun time cooking with Putu and prepares and cooked a few traditional dishes. The area was very clean and everything flowed really well. We ate everything we cooked and chatted with Putu at the end. We highly recommend this authentic experience with the lovely Putu.

This was the best experience we've had in Bali so far. It's extremely hands on and the host, Putu, is an excellent teacher.
Putu brought us to a local market, pointing out all the different fruits and vegetables. She even purchased sweet desserts and a traditional breakfast for us to try. We then travelled to her village where she explained the structure of a local household, the buildings within her compound, and told us about the fruits and vegetables they grow.
The cooking class itself was excellent. It's well paced and thoroughly explained. You take part in every step under Putu's instruction. The kitchen is clean and spacious. The food itself was delicious.
Suksmā Putu!

Literally. Putu and her family are wonderful. The market tour is in depth, and you can sample local produce and sweets. She knows the market in detail, and explains items from its source, quality, and how it’s used. She answered all our questions, and guided us on our spice tolerance with our cooking! We also picked up a little Bahasa and some wok skills.
And, her chickens and dogs were amazing.
Again, thank you so much for the wonderful experience.

Hi. I would like to book this for myself and my partner however my mum will be joining as she will be caring for our 9 month old baby. My mum doesn't want to do any of the cooking but she would love to come along to the market in the morning and stay around to try our food. Please confirm if I'm still just booking for 2 adults or extra and whether you will be able to arrange collection of 3 adults and one baby. Kind regards
