If you wat to experience the real Balinese food and family life I would recommend you book this activity with Putu. She is a fine guide and tells you everything about the traditional Balinese kitchen and family life. You get a warm welcome into her village and family home. We were picked up at seven in the morning to go to the market. After the market we went to Putu’s home and that is we’re we started cooking. It was a wonderful experience and we all enjoyed it very much.

We enjoyed the market tour and cooking class. We went to a small local market and Putu our host explained different varieties of fruits, vegetables, snacks and offerings for purchase. She purchased us some fresh items to try at her home.
At the home we prepared 5 traditional dishes. The class is very hands-on and we were able to prepare and cook all ingredients under Putu's instruction and to our own preferred spiciness. We were supplied with drinks in the morning and the afternoon. We were not required to do any cleaning.
We tried all the foods and took home some leftovers in a takeaway box.
Pickup from our hotel was easy, we confirmed this by WhatsApp directly to Putu - her number was on the emailed ticket which was a little difficult to find at first.
Putu speaks great English and was able to converse about many aspects of Balinese life.

Putu and her family were amazing hosts. We particularly enjoyed being shown around her lovely Balinese house and garden. She was very knowledgeable not just about cooking but also about Balinese culture and history. The food was delicious and class was held very professionally - you can tell the process was well-thought through because we managed to cook so many dishes in a short span of time! All in all, it was an eye-opener and I would highly recommend it for anyone seeking an authentic and meaningful experience while traveling.

Of our weeklong trip to Bali, the private cooking class with Putu was the highlight. In our other touristy experiences, we saw a very curated picture of the country, but this gave us a true window into Balinese culture and life. We loved walking through the farmer's market and trying new fruits and vegetables (one of my favorite things back home, too!). Putu was a tremendous host, welcoming us into her home and introducing us to her family. She was very helpful in teaching us about all the products/produce we were using and showing us the techniques for cooking traditional dishes. In all, we made 7 dishes, which were all delicious. We requested a completely plant-based menu, and were blown away with the variety of flavors that we created. It was lovely to share the meal with her family. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Bali. Thanks, Putu!

This was the best experience we've had in Bali so far. It's extremely hands on and the host, Putu, is an excellent teacher.

Putu brought us to a local market, pointing out all the different fruits and vegetables. She even purchased sweet desserts and a traditional breakfast for us to try. We then travelled to her village where she explained the structure of a local household, the buildings within her compound, and told us about the fruits and vegetables they grow.

The cooking class itself was excellent. It's well paced and thoroughly explained. You take part in every step under Putu's instruction. The kitchen is clean and spacious. The food itself was delicious.

Suksmā Putu!

This was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip! Puta was so amazingly kind and knowledgeable about traditional Balinese food, culture and traditions and for me as a nutritionist it was so much fun to get to know all the local food and cooking techniques. It was also such an honour to see a traditional Balinese home and to be welcomed in such a beautiful and kind way. I would most definitely recommend it to absolutely everyone. Even my husband who isn’t a massive cook really enjoyed the experience. If you are thinking of doing it at all, just get booked in right now!

This was an absolutely fantastic experience! A must-do if you like to cook or if you’re just curious about how the locals eat and live.
Putu is an incredible host and teacher, from what different ingredients are called in Balinese (if you want to know) to how to chop and cook them, she walks you through everything at a lovely pace from the market all the way til it’s time to eat, and the meal we made was absolutely the best we’ve eaten in the 5 days we’ve been in Bali so far. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend this and will definitely be back the next time we’re in Ubud.
Thank you Putu!

I can’t say enough about this class! It is one of the best experiences I have had traveling. We were picked up at 7am and went to a local market for a tour. We then went to their home which had a beautiful garden and rice fields. We made an amazing 6 course meal. The family grew almost everything we used right in their garden! Including the rice! It was delicious and the family was extremely kind and knowledgeable. We had an amazing day!!
