- 327michelley0 contributionsBest experience visiting a traditional Balinese home and cooking Balinese food.Really enjoyed the experience learning how to cook authentic Balinese food with Putu! It was really nice to go to a traditional village and we were privileged to be shown around her family home and garden. One of favourite experiences in Bali! P.S. Putu has a wicked sense of humour, we had a lot of fun! Happy birthday Putu!Written 2 November 2024

- 452joyw0 contributionsBest authentic cooking experience in Bali! MUST DO!!Put this at the top of your “things to do in Bali,” list!! I had no idea what to expect when I booked this Balinese cooking class. What I received was an experience that will leave me a forever changed person for the better. To be welcomed into this family’s sacred place, village and home with such kindness and love speaks volumes of the Balinese people. I was able to see how they lived and we cooked a meal together with fresh ingredients that were grown in their garden. Not only did I have an enjoyable time, I also feel like I made new friends.Written 2 November 2024

- I6391LXhelen0 contributionsA beautiful traditional Bali experience of cooking, culture and connectionSuch a special experience where we went into a traditional village and cooked a delicious meal from produce from the garden. The meal was absolutely delicious and Putu was a delight. Thank you so much.Written 25 October 2024
- 496shutingl0 contributionsEnjoyable and informative activity! My friend and I enjoyed the whole event very mush. It’s 30mins driving from Ubud Sayan(Naya Ubud) and they offer pick up service. The chef Dewa gave us a very informative and interesting tour of their village which is beautiful, well maintained, and ecofriendly. You get to learn the life of traditional Balinese people. The cooking class starts after the tour. I’d suggest find at least 2-3 people to join the class together as the food will be too much for one person. Lastly, the food was 100% amazing! Highly recommended!Written 18 October 2024
- macig20160 contributions100% Recommend and urge you to tryThis was fantastic! It was definitely a highlight of our trip. Putu was extremely welcoming and wonderful. - whenmeateatsveg0 contributionsBEST BALINESE COOKING CLASS IN UBUDThis was without a doubt one of my FAVOURITE experiences here in Bali... Putu & her husband picked us up from our villa and drove back to their village in Ubud, we drove through the rice fields during sunset and entered their home having a detailed introduction to each room in their Balinese Home & Temple. Putu took us to see her back garden and OH MY GOD... I don't think l've tasted more fresher fruit and more fragrant herbs. Guys, it was iNSANEE… she was growing avocados, tomatoes, lettuce, coconuts, durian, Cloves, Sweet Potato, Mangos, Basil, Dragon Fruit and even a Cacao Plant (yes the thing that chocolate comes from!) she even mentioned how they make their own coconut oil in 2hrs for all their cooking needs. All the ingredients used in the cooking class were handpicked from her garden (even her own eggs and poultry!) We had 5 dishes to make: - Nasi Sela (Tradirional Sweet Potato Rice) - Tempeh Manis (Sweet & Spicy Tempeh) - Perkedel Jangung (Sweetcorn Fritters) - Satay Ayum (Chicken Satay) - Urab (Balinese Salad)Written 8 October 2024
- Crystal W0 contributionsFabulous local private cooking schoolPutu was amazing. - PattFitz0 contributionsA fantastic cooking experience with Putu!We had an excellent cultural experience via a cooking class with Putu! Putu and her husband came to pick us up at our hotel in Ubud and drove us back to her village. We were graciously given a tour of her home and surrounding gardens. Putu also has an Air B and B with a small pool on her property. The cooking class was fantastic. We were taught how to prepare a meal that included a green bean and bean sprout salad: tempeh and spices; corn fritters; rice with white sweet potatoes; and chicken satay. We sliced, grated, ground, boiled, fried, and grilled an assortment of ingredients that culminated in a delicious meal. Putu guided us through the process with a gentle kindness. After the meal we were given the opportunity to watch a ceremony that recognized the coming of age for a brother and a sister. We also went to the local temple to witness the offerings of food as this is a special time of year. I would highly recommend anyone try this class with Putu, no cooking experience necessary!Written 2 October 2024
- DMRdiver0 contributionsHighly recommend this class!Best part of our trip to Ubud! Putu was a welcoming host who took time to explain our ingredients and was a great chef & teacher. Our food was amazing. She shared recipes & techniques to allow us to make at home. She shared the religious meanings of her home & temples.Written 2 October 2024

We had such an incredible time with Putu! She and her husband picked us up from our villa in Ubud for a local market tour where we were actually the only tourists. We then headed to her village where she gave us a tour of her home temple and beautiful property. Putu gave us a very in-depth overview of Bali culture and customs and was happy to answer all our questions about Bali life.
Putu’s class was so intentionally put together—not only was the food amazing but we felt very engaged throughout because she was such an attentive host and teacher. I do cooking classes all the time when I travel but I can honestly say this was one of the best travel experiences I have had. I would highly recommend this activity if you are looking for an authentic, local Bali experience.

This was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip! Puta was so amazingly kind and knowledgeable about traditional Balinese food, culture and traditions and for me as a nutritionist it was so much fun to get to know all the local food and cooking techniques. It was also such an honour to see a traditional Balinese home and to be welcomed in such a beautiful and kind way. I would most definitely recommend it to absolutely everyone. Even my husband who isn’t a massive cook really enjoyed the experience. If you are thinking of doing it at all, just get booked in right now!

We enjoyed the market tour and cooking class. We went to a small local market and Putu our host explained different varieties of fruits, vegetables, snacks and offerings for purchase. She purchased us some fresh items to try at her home.
At the home we prepared 5 traditional dishes. The class is very hands-on and we were able to prepare and cook all ingredients under Putu's instruction and to our own preferred spiciness. We were supplied with drinks in the morning and the afternoon. We were not required to do any cleaning.
We tried all the foods and took home some leftovers in a takeaway box.
Pickup from our hotel was easy, we confirmed this by WhatsApp directly to Putu - her number was on the emailed ticket which was a little difficult to find at first.
Putu speaks great English and was able to converse about many aspects of Balinese life.

What an experience. Putu and her husband made this tour so memorable. From the moment they picked us up Putu was so kind and accomodating. We enjoyed breakfast from their local market and she served it in her home with coffee.
We cooked 6 traditional dishes one was a bonus dish because we mentioned we loved a water spinach dish we tried at a Warung. Putu grabbed some from the market while we were there to cook the dish for us. After we ate the amazing food at her home we toured her lovely garden.
Luckily, we had the pleasure of seeing her village temple where once a year they have a celebration for the farmers. Putu took us with her for the blessing ceremony.
The whole experience felt so personalised & we even took all the left overs for dinner!! I cannot explain how special this whole thing was & it’s an experience I’ll never forget.
I will be coming to visit again in their villa once it’s built and doing the class next time I’m in Bali definitely!!!

We had a lovely time with Putu and would highly recommend this experience. We were picked up from our hotel and driven to the local market in Putu's area. She explained the local produce and purchased food that we used in our cooking. Our favourite part of this market was the sticky rice and palm sugar treats (delicious) purchased. We were taken to Putu's family home and given a tour. We also ate fresh fruit, tea & coffee and the delicious treats (from the market) before moving to the cooking area to cook. We had a fun time cooking with Putu and prepares and cooked a few traditional dishes. The area was very clean and everything flowed really well. We ate everything we cooked and chatted with Putu at the end. We highly recommend this authentic experience with the lovely Putu.

This was the best experience we've had in Bali so far. It's extremely hands on and the host, Putu, is an excellent teacher.
Putu brought us to a local market, pointing out all the different fruits and vegetables. She even purchased sweet desserts and a traditional breakfast for us to try. We then travelled to her village where she explained the structure of a local household, the buildings within her compound, and told us about the fruits and vegetables they grow.
The cooking class itself was excellent. It's well paced and thoroughly explained. You take part in every step under Putu's instruction. The kitchen is clean and spacious. The food itself was delicious.
Suksmā Putu!

Hi. I would like to book this for myself and my partner however my mum will be joining as she will be caring for our 9 month old baby. My mum doesn't want to do any of the cooking but she would love to come along to the market in the morning and stay around to try our food. Please confirm if I'm still just booking for 2 adults or extra and whether you will be able to arrange collection of 3 adults and one baby. Kind regards
