This cooking class was amazing. My partner got it for me as a birthday present and it could not have been better. We had the morning session so we were able to explore the local market. During our time at the market we were given the opportunity to try snake skin fruit and some traditional desserts. The guide also explained different ingredients that we would be using for our cooking. We then went to a local rice field where we got told how they harvested the rice and how frequently. After this we progressed to the cooking class. It was in a group, however we all got our own cooking stations. We cooked 9 different dishes and had demonstrations before beginning our own. It was the perfect blend of doing it yourself and having some done for you as there were multiple people within the kitchen there to assist. Since my partner planned this as a birthday gift for me, they surprised both of us with a birthday cake whilst singing happy birthday. My partner didn’t even know this was coming and the cake tasted amazing. All of the food was delicious and it was such an interesting experience learning some traditional Balinese cooking. You also get a recipe book pdf sent to you of all the recipes you cooked + more. Would definitely recommend this experience, especially the morning session as you get to explore the rice field and local market.

Had a wonderful experience with Subak cooking class! I would totally recommend this to anyone who is looking for a unique Balinese experience.

Wayan was extremely helpful and responsive to any queries that we had via whatsapp. On the day of the class, he brought us to a morning market where we could try local fruits and snacks and buy spices if we wanted to. After the market tour, we stopped by a rice field where Wayan explained to us about the rice harvesting practices in Bali.

During the cooking class, Wayan was very engaging in his explanations and demonstrations. I am surprised that we managed to prepare so many dishes in a relatively short period of time and that they actually turned out so well! There were a few other people who were around to help us if we needed assistance so the class is suitable for anyone regardless of your cooking capabilities!

Overall a very enjoyable experience! Can't wait to put what I learnt into practice!

Fantastic half day cooking class, would highly recommend the morning class as the tour of the market and rice fields is not to be missed. The chef was amazing and very funny from start to finish he kept everyone engaged and included. The food we made and ate at the end of the session was stunning. Very much recommend this experience.

This cooking class was great for all abilities. I am someone who loves to cook and prides myself on my ability that I have picked up. My girlfriend on the other hand… ‘If I speak I’m in big trouble’ 🤣. But both of us loved this! We were shown step by step how to make the dishes with all the others on the course. I feel as though I was able to pick up skills from the teacher and implement some of my own which was nice! We both made some great food, some stuff that I would definitely eat and some that I wouldn’t but was great to try and may have changed my mind about them. We were all given copies of the recipes on our emails so we can keep cooking them which is a nice touch. Everyone was very friendly and included a pick up and drop off from our hotel. Overall the value for money is excellent and definitely recommend this activity for anyone no matter if you have never cooked or if you are a chef!

On a whim, me and my husband booked this very nicely priced cooking class the day before. It exceeded all of our expectations. The hosts were very accommodating with pick-up and drop-off to and from our hotel.

We elected to do the morning class as it included a tour of a typical Balinese market. We got to experience first hand how the locals go about getting food for the day. We snacked on some food and took a tour before being transported to where the cooking class would take place.

Once at the cooking class, we met our very kind and gracious instructor. He took the time to walk us through all the ingredients we would be using throughout the class. He showed us the best way to utilize the ingredients and how to properly cut each vegetable. While he showed us what to do, the supporting workers ensured our stations were set up with clean cooking utensils prior to each of the 9 courses!

The instructor gave us plenty of time and support to prepare each meal and accommodated those with special food intolerances (there was a vegan in our group who prepared her own dishes and had them placed separately from ours).

After all 9 courses were complete, the food was organized in a buffet style and we got to enjoy all the hard work we had done!

This was such a wonderful experience and I suggest it to anyone visiting Bali!

Such an amazing experience, we couldn’t recommend it enough! We did the morning class and went to the local markets. Great service the whole day, Wayan and his family are full of knowledge about the both their food and culture. The food we cooked was unreal, we were also given a list of the ingredients so we can’t give it a shot later.

i would definitely recommend doing the morning cooking class. The man who ran the class firstly took us to the rice fields and explained how they are grown and then took us too the market where he showed us around whilst explaining the ingredients being used in our class. He was so lovely and accommodating asking us questions to try help us remember and asking us if we had any questions. The cooking itself was amazing we made 9 different dishes making everything from scratch. After we ate what we made and could take as much home as we wanted. The family who ran this class where lovely and shows a family side to cooking in Bali. Would 100% recommend!

After we went to the family-owned rice terraces and the local market we prepared 9 different dishes. We loved the experience and the tasty food that we have eaten together after preparing it. We would highly recommend it to everybody who is visiting Bali and wants to discover local food and traditions!

Do not hesitate to book this course if you want to learn how the Balinese produce their amazing food. 9 dishes plus a market tour and paddy field visit. It was a good split between some prepared ingredients with us doing the cooking. Wayan was a perfect host supported by a group of people helping to make sure we were following instructions - able to answer all our questions. The session finished with us all enjoying the fruits of our labours with a wonderful lunch - the food was amazing even though I say it myself!

Wayan is a super nice guide and cook. He took us to the rice fields, told a lot about the history and then at the market he gave us a lot of new kind of fruits to try out. Cooking was super fun!!
