- F8070MQgabriellew0 contributionsBest cooking class in BaliThis class was 100% everything. From the personal collection at our hotel, to the informative market visit, to the wonderful people from all over the world that we met. Head chef Komang was professional, entertaining and informative. We were all name tagged so referred to by name.. a nice touch. We were grouped in small table numbers and worked together to create a number of amazing dishes. The vibe was excellent. Many people in the class but we were ALL made to feel very welcome. The staff were assisting amazingly to bring ingredients, and to clear away everything as we went. Lunch was enjoyed with our little group as we got to experience the dishes we created. Highly recommended. They know exactly what they are doing, and do it very well. It’s a well oiled machine. 👏 10/10Written 19 October 2024
- NiCkyM5010 contributionsFantastic experience!!Very nice experience! We went at 4pm and were there until the sunset. The view is fantastic and the beach perfect for beginners. The trainer was professional and there was a lifeguard always close to us. A photographer took us nice photos which we could buy for 150K IDR. Showers, shampoo and clean towels were provided.Written 19 October 2024

Would recommend the class and or the restaurant where the class is held.Written 2 October 2024
- CamTyLil0 contributionsFirst class serviceVery friendly and professional organisation from start to finish. Hotel pick up was very prompt with a knowledgeable driver. The team at the white water rafting were amazing, putting everyone at ease. Best of all was our guide who had amazing talents with rafting giving very clear instructions to 4 novices. He was happy to take pictures under the waterfall and has a great sense of humour. Great facilities too for showering afterwardsWritten 28 September 2024
- Angela S0 contributionsBest cookery class ever. What a fun way to spend a morning. From start to finish excellent. Picked up promptly from hotel to meet Tommy who then took us to the market and introduced us to local vegetable, spices and vegetables we would use later in the cooking class. Tommy was great, very animated and easy to understand and made his class fun and enjoyable at the same time providing us with expert advice. Can’t believe how many dishes we prepped and cooked then had served up later for us all - what a feast and at the same time excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend. The whole experience was efficient, fun and great value. Lots of staff on hand to help, advise, clear away utensils, wipe down surfaces in between the different dishes being cooked and prepare the surfaces and ingredients for next dish.Written 26 September 2024

- juliepinot0 contributionsA very interesting experienceThis class was sooooo much fun, creating your own scent was very interesting. It was good to see the smells we are attracted to, in the sense that my husband created a more feminine smell and l created a more masculine smell. Wth a few adjustments, we both created something we both love.Written 9 September 2024

Wonderful experience learning about traditional Bali cooking. Very well organised, very hygienic and food tasted better than in a restaurant. Visiting a local market was another bonus. Highly recommend Paon Cooking class.

This class was absolutely AMAZING!! I went with my mother and grandmother. The family was so sweet--they showed us around their home and treated us like family. They helped my grandma get up and down the stairs. I have a peanut allergy and they made sure to keep peanuts away from my dishes. The class taught us a lot about Balinese cooking, and we made so many dishes together. The food was so fresh and delicious. We would recommend to everyone to come here while in Ubud! :D

Thoroughly excellent experience all round. Met at the Ubud Palace and taken on a fascinating tour of the vegetables, fruit and spices at the local market; with an opportunity to buy at much cheaper rates than European prices (e.g. recommend the saffron).
We were then driven about 15 minutes to the cooking school where we met the proprietor, a lovely convivial cook with a great backstory.
About 18 people attended and we were spilt up into groups and pairs to undertake the cooking, completing the preparation for 6 different dishes in total. The school staff were on hand to assist and with pre-preparation, they took a lot of the more tedious time-consuming aspects out of the equation. Part of the fun was also meeting the other ‘chefs for a day’ who were from Australia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland and elsewhere.
Of course we all enjoyed eating the results of our excellent cooking too!
Have already recommended this course to friends, who also enjoyed the experience too.

We enjoyed a little tour and lesson on spices at a local market before heading to their family home for our cooking class. We were welcomed warmly into their beautiful home and explained a brief explanation on Balianese homelife.
The course catered for all requirements, all the ingredients and instructions were introduced clearly. The other assistants we very attentive to our children who were able to be very hands on with the cooking and chopping aspects. There was plenty of space for many cooking stations and helpers. We had a wonderful time, cooked some scrummy food and all walked away happy and eager to impress friends back home!

10/10 Would recommend anyone who is traveling to Bali to do this cooking class. Lots of details about ingredients and very hands-on in cooking. I was looking for a cooking class to accommodate my vegan diet, and this one was amazing 👏 I ate so much delicious food that I will definitely be making at home.

Can’t recommend this highly enough. Great way to spend a morning. Market visit (am only) was great, cooking educational, not too strenuous and wonderful food at the end. The host was hilariously funny and we were cared for in excellent style

I had a great time doing this cooking class! For $A32 I was transported to and from the beautiful location, given a guided wander around a small food market, helped to cook Balinese food and fed an enormous tasty lunch! Great value! I have a serious celebrity crush on Puspa, the charismatic lady who runs this tightly-organised experience. She is a ray of sunshine, honey! While I loved the hours I spent making many dishes, this class would not be for everyone. If you are a serious cook, this probably isn’t for you as much of the food prep is done for you by Puspa’s lovely assistants. The actual cooking you do is pretty basic stuff so don’t expect your Balinese MasterChef experience. This class is pitched at non-cooks….. no skills needed. That said, I fancy myself as a cook and I still loved it. I loved seeing Puspa’s stunning family home. I loved interacting with people from all over the world. I loved the delicious banquet we devoured. I loved Puspa!

The market tour is a waste of time as the market is pretty well closed by the time the group arrives. The family temple tour is just an unaccompanied wander around their family temple with no explanation.
The group was so big we had to be split into 2 groups and even then the group was so big you had to share, so not enough hands on cooking. It would have been nice to cook a classic dish like mie goring, but the dish choice was OK. All felt a bit rushed. I had to ask firmly for a recipe book as they wanted me to download it instead.
A ok outing, but no recommendation from me.

Food was very good but we were 17 persons in two groups. So we had to share the pan, cutting board etc. and couldn’t prepare the food as in a real cooking class as we just had to cut some herbs and stir the ingredients mainly prepared by the different helpers. Everything had to be done quickly and it felt like mass tourism without a personal touch, so quite a big deception. At the end, we had to insist for getting our “recipe book”.

My husband and I loved it, we went in the lunch time class so got to go to the market in the morning which was interesting. They talked through different ingredients but we didn’t actually buy the food there for the class, it was already organised at the house.
They picked us up from our hotel and dropped us back after. The class was really fun and a great location. The host was great!
They talked through how to make 6 different dishes before we all had a go at preparing and cooking them. They also helped to cook parts of it over a bbq and deep frying. It was with a group of 12 people from America, Italy and the UK so it was really nice being able to meet new people.
Lunch was served buffet style so we helped ourselves to as much as we wanted and sat chatting, with views of the ‘jungle’ around us.
I’d definitely recommend.

I see your do free pick up in the area? We are staying at the Kamandalu resort in Ubud? Do you do free drop off?
We have a problem. We want to do the morning class on the 3rd but we have to check out of Kamandalu, Ubud at 12 and head back to Canggu on the 3rd.
If someone picks us up at the Kamandalu, hotel can we bring our bags with us? We just need to know the address of where the cooking class is so we can arrange for transport to Canggu at 230pm when the class is over?
Do you think we would be able to bring our bags with us!
