Overview

Combine visits to the Dead Sea and Masada on this full-day trip from Tel Aviv, a great way to tick off more attractions in less time. Eliminate the hassle of car hire and travel in an air-conditioned coach instead. During at stop at Masada, your guide provides information crucial to understanding the landmark. Back at sea level, float in the salty Dead Sea, where you can book therapeutic treatments (own expense).

What to Expect

Begin your day with convenient pickup at your Tel Aviv hotel, where you'll board an air-conditioned vehicle and head for the Judean desert. En route to Masada, you'll learn about the parable of the Good Samaritan from your guide as you pass the famous site.

At Masada, a mountain crowned by an ancient fortress, ride the cable car to the top for a tour. Follow your guide to see the highlights and learn about the 2,000-year-old fortress' history. Pause to snap photos of the epic views and get closer looks at the crumbling remnants of the building.

Descend to sea level and ride over to the Dead Sea, passing the settlement of Qumran and the oasis of Ein Gedi on the way. Make a visit to the Qumran caves to see the ancient parchments contained there.

Once you arrive at the Dead Sea, you'll have two hours to relax on the beach and swim in the super-salty sea, located at one of the earth's lowest points. Float and enjoy the feeling of weightlessness, book a mud bath or other therapeutic treatment, or peruse the selection of Dead Sea bath products.

Fully relaxed, board the bus and return to Tel Aviv, passing the city of Jericho on the way. Learn some facts about Jericho from your guide, and then return to your hotel for drop-off.

Mediocre.

Masada & the Dead Sea tour isn’t great. You probably get 2.5 hours of seeing sights and you’re out from 7am-5pm. Too much coach time, there are better tours in my opinion. Masada isn’t fantastic either; and the Dead Sea is cool but only 75...More

The trip up to Masada is a must for any Holy Land tour. The location is stunning. To see and walk amongst the ruins is a special experience. I would also recommend a swimming experience in the Dead Sea. You can't stay in the water...More

The tour lasted all day. I can't remember the specifics but we were picked up by our hotel in Tel Aviv in the early am and ended up in Jerusalem late afternoon.
