We took this cruise on a Saturday afternoon and we’re very happy with the experience. The ticketing was easy, checkin was a breeze. The entire crew was friendly and helpful. FREE parking along with cheap food and beverages made the price you pay the price you pay. The narrator (live) was very knowledgeable and then let the scenery speak for itself on the way home. Very nice visit-tour the USS Slater

With Covid restriction subsiding and nice weather developing, we spent a couple of days in the Albany area and found the entire trip to be wonderful. It is a beautiful part of the state and much more laid back than the metropolis of the Five Boroughs.
Many recreational and sightseeing activities are still starting up in the area, and this particular cruise was only offered for one of the days we would be in the area. Thankfully, although there was the threat of thunderstorms, the weather held and at noon the sky was perfect and the Hudson River still.
The triple-decker ship has was sparsely filled for this trip and we were able to sit at one of the 6 or 8 table on the top deck. About half are in full sun and the rest under the shade of a canopy, so arrive early if you want to be topside but under cover. There is plenty of space on the lower decks and much more comfortable if you don't like being in direct sun or wind. The second deck also features a food and beverage bar with a variety of snacks and drinks. We were sitting topside and the staff made multiple trips to take and fill orders - greatly appreciated. Prices were reasonable and the drinks and, in our case, pretzels were fresh and delicious.
The cruise itself was relaxing as the boat made its way leisurely down the Hudson. The tour guide offered a running dialogue of commentary as we motored along. She pointed out highlights along the shore, located several bald eagles, and provided a good historical backdrop to the the settlements along the route. The narration was not particularly informative but I did learn a couple of things and it was generally lighthearted and entertaining. On the return trip, the tour guide put on some easy listening music and mingled with the passengers so as the answer any questions they had.
The staff is extremely accommodating and very courteous and friendly. A couple of the younger passengers (who were bored with the tour guide's narration) were even invited by the captain to join him at his perch. It really made their day.
In summary, it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Keep your expectations reasonable regarding how much sightseeing there really is and enjoy the time on the water. It is also reasonably priced - I visited the Dutch Apple website before our trip and received multiple discount codes to use online when booking. It was definitely worth visiting the site ahead of time.

This was a great tour of the Hudson. The narrator, Peter shared the great history of the shoreline on the first half of the trip and then we had time to relax on the return. The ship is meticulously maintained and has refreshments and restrooms. They even allow the kids to take a turn steering the ship which absolutely thrilled our six year old grandson. This is a good activity for all ages.

Dutch Apple Cruises offers a 90 min. cruise on the Hudson. An area historian, Pat, narrated the first half of the tour. She was entertaining and knowledgeable. There was food and beverages for purchase on board. The highlight of our trip was seeing a bald eagle. Purchase your tickets on line and save a few bucks, you can do it right from the parking lot. We have never been to Albany before so we really enjoyed learning a bit of the area's history.

To tell you the truth I was a little skeptical of the cruise since I had never heard about the Dutch Apple Boat. However, I was surely mistaken. The boat is well taken care of and the crew members were so welcoming and courteous. They have a wide selection of food & drinks for everyone to find something to enjoy. The narration was informative and even if you just wanted to go on a "boat ride", you'd still be interested hearing the history of the area. I live a five minute drive from another cruise boat that goes out on the Hudson, but I would rather drive 50 minutes to Albany any day to go on this boat.

We enjoyed this 90 minute trip. We had a very personable tour guide who gave a history of the area along the Hudson River around the Albany Harbor. We even got to see a bald eagle. The boat has an open top deck and offers a large covered section. Food and beverages are available, including beer and wine.

We were in Albany bringing our son to RPI for his first year in college. Turns out he was pretty busy with campus activities, so my husband and I had some time to kill in Albany. We chose this little afternoon river cruise and it was quite delightful! A bit of history, a pretty full bar for wine/beer/cocktails and snacks, overall a nice experience. It started out stormy with thunder and lightning, but cleared up after about 30 minutes and we had beautiful weather after that.

Something for everyone! We loved it.
Yes, the crew and staff are wonderful! The boat is spotless.
Have children? They may learn a few boat vocabulary words and see a tributary in action. Have a 4th grader? They do a wonderful job teaching NYS history (4th grade NYS curriculum friendly).
Have family and friends that want to sit on an upper deck catch some sun and have some drinks? The bartenders are nice.
We were a party of two just seeking a few hours of a boat breeze in our hair surrounded by nice people, listening to music and hearing or seeing a few new things about Albany by the tour guide. This trip did not disappoint.
If you go, you should find the boat to be a very nice day outing.

Best way to park?

There's a lot with plenty of parking at the boat docks.
do you have a list of days that the boat goes out. any during the week?
Gaelic_Gypsy
Seymour, CT246 contributions
The website for the company is very straightforward and tells which days are river cruises and which days are sunset cruises. At the time that we went Covid was just opening things up and there were only two or three cruises per week
What about if it is raining? Are there refunds?
Gaelic_Gypsy
Seymour, CT246 contributions
According to their website - no. They indicate that it is rain or shine. Consequently, we bought our tickets online that morning when we had a better read on the weather.
Although this boat is not wheelchair accessible Is there a ramp that lets you board the main level of the boat?
