Private Family Tour
Mr. Lee did a fantastic job catering to our young family of five. I told him the things we wanted to see and he made our dreams a reality. When we needed to make modifications for our family Mr. Lee was very flexible and accommodating. He has worked with local and foreign tourist and we would highly recommend his services! One day private tour of the rice terraces

This tour was actually better than I thought it would be. Going in December meant we pretty much had the place to ourselves and the scenery was still spectacular. Our guide, Leo, was extremely informative without being intrusive. Had lunch at an excellent cafe before going to a village. To be honest that place was a bit weird, lots of locals just standing around staring, was glad we didn’t have lunch there, but also gave us a good laugh when safely back in the car!

Great introduction to Chinese rice terraces

My friend and I booked a one-day-tour of Longji Rice Terraces guided by Leo. We thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was a great idea to pay for a private guide. The place is absolutely unique and stunning. Professional, friendly & knowledgeable, Leo provided great explanation of the history & local customs which made our experience even better. Would definitely recommend his service.

Green as far as the eye can see
We had a wonderful trip to the Longshi Rich Terraces with our guide, Leo. It takes quite a while to get there by car from Guilin, but along the way he would tell us about what we were seeing, background on the local agriculture, customs and so on. It made the long ride a bit shorter. The Rice Terraces themselves are quite a sight. It’s a bit of a trek up some stairs to the views, but Leo is very attentive to his guests’ particular needs so no one will feel like they’re out of their comfort zone.

There are two viewpoints. One is at the end of a bunch of steps. It’s a 20-40 minute climb depending on your fitness. At the top there is a fairly new and easy walk of about 30 minutes to the second view point.

Highly recommend this tour.

A fabulous day worth an early morning wake-up

Leo was a fantastic guide and because it was Golden Week (yes, I know, not the best time), he kindly advised to leave the hotel by 6.00am to go to Longji old village and the rice terrace. You have to know that during Golden Week, the tours might be a bit changed and it is for the best to avoid the crowd (and when I say 'crowd', this is beyond your imagination!!). So trust Leo when he gives you some recommendations.
After Longji, it was time for lunch (really good typical meal) and then off to a tea farm (again, twist in the program with extra reasonable cost) where we learned a lot about tea. Then finally, a tour in the city and around the lakes to end up back to the hotel around 4.30-5.00pm.
The tour was great, really great locations and Leo knows the area, the culture and how to make a program with respect to the crowd and business of the touristic places. The driver was perfect too.
All in all, thumbs up and definitely will contact this tours agency if in the area again (actually, we booked a day 2 with the same company, perfect too!)

Gorgeous views, great experience with tour gruide

We had a great time hiking the beautiful rice terraces, and the tour guide/driver were both patient and answered all of our questions. They promptly arrived at our hotel at 7:30am and drove us 2 hours to the beautiful countryside where we saw the Zhuang minority village (Ping an village) and the Longji rice terraces.

We paid 60 CNY each extra for a shuttle up the mountain and hiked down the rice terraces. We had lunch at a restaurant with a great view of the terraces (albeit it catered almost exclusively to foreigners) and got back to Guilin around 4pm.

A new favorite with breath-taking views!

We highly recommend private transport for convenience and timing. Haibo was so sweet and helpful, and could answer all of our questions. We enjoyed a hike with his mother to feed her goats. Saw great views and had a memorable experience climbing with her. We also enjoyed an evening calligraphy class with one of the neighbors. We enjoyed getting to meet locals when they stopped in to say hi or during daily walks around the village. The home-cooked meals were delicious, and accommodated the multiple allergies I have.

We highly recommend this very special place. Many thanks to everyone, including the village itself, for bringing so much life and love to our lives these past few days!

This is a tour you don’t want to miss. We almost skipped this site, but luckily last-minute changes made it possible. The rice terraces are breath-taking and so worth the drive. John was flexible with the day’s plans, tailoring them to our needs. We first visited the incredibly beautiful and authentic village of an ethnic minority people. We then reached the stunning rice terraces and got to walk around for as much or as little as we wanted. Definitely the highlight and a new top favorite of ours in all of China. After some light shopping of local, handmade goods, we enjoyed a delicious meal at a restaurant that John helped make work for all my food allergies. The driver was also great. So nice to have a private driver and tour guide that take care of all logistics, as well as prioritize safety, especially on some bumpy roads to the top of the mountain. (It does cost 50 rmb per person to take a motor car to the very top of the rice terraces, as cars and buses are not allowed up. We suggest everyone does this, as the other option is a VERY long and not-so-scenic hike up and you won’t have energy to walk around the terraces.) Highly recommend. Thanks for a memorable experience!

We opted for a private tour rather than the large group with our package tour. Definitely a good choice. Eric our guide took us to the Yao (Huangluo) Village on the way up and we saw the show where the women show off their amazingly long hair (only cut once in their life at age 18 yrs) which is kept clean with daily washing in rice water. Due to a medical condition we were able to start from the top at the "Nine dragons and five tigers terraces" - by which time the sun had come out (rain on journey from Guilin and heavy rain when inside watching the show). We had 4-5 hours slowly walking across to the "Seven stars with the moon" viewpoint and then meandering down through many of the amazing rice terraces and villages. Eric's English was excellent; the driver was good and careful (not that common a skill from what we observed of much of the driving in China). Well worth taking this option but without the medical condition one may have to start at the normal start point, half way up, which means a long climb up the hill to see the terraces from the top before descending (see photo of people coming up through the terraces along way below where we were).

Beautiful day

We spent the day touring the Longsheng rice fields and local village with Leo. He and driver picked us up from our hotel and took care of everything for the day. It was a great tour and Longshen is a very beautiful part of China. Leo provided a lot of information about Guilin and Longsheng. His English was very good
