Most tourists stick to the same places and rarely dig beneath the surface to discover the more gritty neighborhoods, where some shady dealings occur. A great introduction to a great city
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our guide was informative, funny, and introduced to foods and places we would never have tracked down on our own in the short time that we had available in Osaka. He also suggested some places that are not on the tour that we could visit on our own later (which we did, and he was right). I'm a travel advisor, and I will be very comfortable recommending this tour to my clients in the future.

Excellent food tour with Hanna as a guide in Osaka !
The food tour was excellent! Hanna is a very friendly and very knowledgeable guide. The meals in the various restaurants were very good. The staff we met were super nice and very friendly. We booked this tour during our visit to Japan for our honeymoon and I recommend it for 100% whether with friends or family you will enjoy it! Thank you again Hanna for your amazing energy !

      Fun, Insightful, and a Stress-Relief
My wife and I had our walking tour of Osaka, Japan on May 18th, 2024. Vivi (Communications) did a great job coordinating the event time and meeting logistics. Rahat was fantastic and truly enjoyed showing us around. He was filled with knowledge, his confidence was an stress-relief as we could tell he knew where he was going (he knew cool shortcuts), and we appreciated the way he modified the tour to better fit our interests (cooking, shopping, food, etc). We had a nice time and would not hesitate to schedule another tour with Osaka Food Tours in the future. Remember, Osaka is a crazy busy and action packed city, so having a guide is a good return on your investment.

      A wonderful experience
Tommy was an amazing guide - very friendly and an engaging story teller. We sampled lots of delicious street food - the tomato sour drink and tacoyakki (garlic infused buns filled with octopus) were my absolute favourite. Throughout the tour, Tommy kept us amused with snippets of history and lots of anecdotes. He didn't try to hurry us along and allowed us to really enjoy the whole experience. Would thoroughly recommend this tour, especially with him as your guide.

Loved this food tour and visiting behind the scenes of Osaka! Anna was such a joy to tour with and engaged with all participants to make everyone feel welcomed and comfortable. Definitely dined and enjoyed sights that we wouldn't have discovered on our own!

What a fun night with Miko! We've done food tours all over the world and Miko was our more personable guide yet. Lots of fun and informative views not only in the food but the culture of Osaka. Highly recommend!

Our guide Mico was so enthusiastic it was infectious. You eat and drink good on this tour. By the last place everyone was full but the food kept coming. We had such a good group of people it truly felt like a friends night out.

      Introduction to Osaka
We did a morning walking tour in Osaka with Mio as our guide. She is very sweet & knowledgeable & she introduced us to some of the main highlights of the city. Thank you Mio Also a special thank you to Andy who got in touch with me when I confused our tour date & patiently instructed us on how to catch up with the tour. If he hadn’t we would have missed the tour entirely. Thank you Andy. Really appreciated it. I highly recommend this tour

Fantastic way to spend 3-4 hours in Osaka!
Had a fantastic time with a very friendly, knowledgeable and friendly Aussie tour guide named Tommy. Group of 8, leisurely pace, nothing too much trouble. Well worth it! He even helped us back to the right JR Rail platform at Namba Station so w could get back to the airport hotel! Thanks Tommy you are awesome.

      Very accommodating guide
What a great tour. I had multiple dietary restrictions (pork, shellfish) but our guide Mico spoke to the local chefs to accommodate me. He also provided very helpful recommendations for places in Osaka that were not included on the tour. I would recommend!

A nice food tour in Shin Sekai
We had a nice time on our food tour. Our guide, Ricard, was friendly and informative. This was a great way to try a variety of dishes (and a couple of drinks) and to explore the Shin Sekai district of Osaka. We would recommend this tour if you are visiting Osaka. Come hungry, as you will get a ton of great food on this tour!

Food was great, tour was a tad unorganized with some timing being off on the reservations made and subsequently had us standing around for a bit, tour guide kevin was ok, knowledgeable about the area but had the occasional rant about the drug issues in Canada. Didn’t ruin the experience but added a little awkwardness as I was trying to eat takoyaki, as it goes.

A Must Do Experience in Osaka
This was such an awesome tour! All of my expectations were met and exceeded. Not only was the food delicious, but my husband and I would never have gotten to try majority of it on our own. And the experience wasn't limited to sampling the food either! Our tour guide, who was so funny and approachable, taught us so many things about Japan and its culture. I would 100% do it again!

Very cool trek through the more unseen portions of urban Japan. This 2-3 hour tour went through some really cool, 'locals only' parts of Osaka, with the inside scoop from humorous, empathetic English speaking tour guides. Would highly recommend if you want to learn more about the areas not listed on the tourism websites.

Booked this tour with high expectations and I confidently can say it blew my expectations even higher. Kevin was super knowledgeable about every little detail and gave us explanations about Osaka that no other tour would give us. You get to see an entirely different part of the city that would be impossible to get while walking it alone. Highly recommend it including dinner.

An excellent tour of the nightlife of Osaka. So many interesting things to see. The first half of the tour was light and fun. The second half explored more of the seedier parts of the town but was possibly even more interesting. We took our mature 13 year old as well as our other 3 older children. Our 13yo chose not to see some of the sights and the guide (Kevin) made this very easy while still accomodating the group.
    Definitely recommended.

Our tour guide Luca was great!!!

We got to see a lot of the area and he told us a lot of the history and showed us a lot of the area and market. We were interviewed or filmed for a local tv show! We then proceeded to the back alleys and areas where we got some food and learned more about the area and culture.

Luca then took us to a restaurant where we got great food and met a local celebrity!! Overall was a great tour and learned quite a bit about the otherside.

Andy is great! He is so personable and easy to get along with. The food was amazing, but just getting to know him was a lot of fun. He gives a perspective of Osaka and Japan that you can't get anywhere else. Osaka is a gem, and Andy will help you experience what it really means to live there. If you prefer to see a city from the perspective of someone who lives there, I highly recommend this.

This was my first walking tour ever and it was beyond my expectations! It was a very clear meet up spot and every bit of the tour was exactly as described. There was also a super engaging tour guide Matt who was engaged and animated the whole tour! We were able to eat drink and see our way listerslly through the “ underbelly”. I was able to get a view of Osaka that I would not have been able to get elsewhere! Highly recommend!

For this tour we were lucky to be in a small group, which made the experience more fun and intimate. Bennet was our guide and he was a wealth of knowledge on Japan and the sites that we visited.

It was so much fun walking around the neighborhoods and learning everything from Japanese religion to the seedy underbelly of Japanese Society. This is an eye opening tour and I HIGHLY recommend it to any tourist traveling through Osaka to take this once in a lifetime tour.

Bring comfortable shoes, questions, and an appetite for all things Japanese .

Thank you Andy and Bennet for all that you do and for a great tour experience!

Initially we were looking for a food tour and chose this backstreet tour due to the high ratings. It definetely paid off. We walked streets and saw parts of Osaka we wouldn't have dreamed of checking out. We learnt alot about Japan and Osaka which you can't necessarily read about either. Also the food we ate has been the best we have tried in Osaka during our trip.
Kevin was our guide and he was funny and informative and even showed us karaoke after the tour. We don't speak Japanese at all really so he made everything very smooth and comfortable.

    Thanks so much again Kev!

We spent several hours walking through the Shinsekai and Nishinari neighborhoods, eating, drinking and learning about the culture and history of Osaka. Our guide Aron did a really fantastic job of answering questions, providing helpful tips and, of course, leading us to a lot of really delicious food! He was friendly, knowledgable and, along with our fellow tourists, made for a great companion. He had clearly done a lot of preparation and guided us to several spots offering various delicacies, places that I'm not at all confident we would have found on our own. Everything we tried was fresh, delicious and there was more than enough food to make it worth the price. We had a wonderful time, and would recommend this tour to anybody.

Nibbles on the way around and my son and i opted for dinner which we really enjoyed as we had food that i would never of tried and at a place i would never would have entered into but turned out a great night.
Luca also passionate about helping in this community and where we ate dinner they also help the youth in the area with meals and such.
