Let me start by saying TK was nice and knowledgeable and that's the main reason I'm giving it 4 stars but for the price I ended up paying I was expecting a lot more food.

I booked the experience for a Friday night. Work was busy so I asked TK if I could push it back an hour and he was happy to oblige. When I finally met him up, I realized it was a private tour which had me excited. A private tour with a local...I thought to myself, "the roughly 53 USD I spent was going to be worth it" but I was wrong.

We went to a couple of different food stands where I had literally samples of food. We started with some local bacon and pork. Had a pork bun which had been sitting out for hours bc it was very dry. Also had some fried jackfruit, pork dim sum, dried fruit and snacks, a sweet dish (I forgot the name) and then finally came to a Chinese restaurant. Mind you, most of those items were free. At this point, TK asked if I was full and I responded with 'no' bc I was expecting to be full after all the tastings. At the restaurant he informed me that he would pick up the order of satay and everything else would be on my own tab. I thought, "OK, sure why not" so I ordered a few dishes based on his recommendations. After dinner we finished with an Indian restaurant where we had some tea (teh tarik) and a sweet flaky pastry (I call it paratha).

Summary, don't expect a lot of food and if you can book for cheaper than what I paid, it may be worthwhile. Again, TK was very nice and that's the reason I kept it at 4 stars.

Great to see the real food of KL. Host was very friendly polite and knowledgeable.
Recommend going on this hungry as quite a bit if food that we were struggling to get through towards the end and we did the “lighter” food tour.

Our guide Faris exceeded all of our expectations. As a chef, his knowledge of
Malay cuisine is outstanding. We learned tips about making Sombal and
Satay the right way. I was taking notes throughout. As a guide, he was
a very friendly and witty. He stayed with us at each table and gave us
details about everything we ate. He also added tidbits on Malay
culture and in the intersection of food and culture. Faris is an
excellent representative for his country of Malaysia.

We specifically asked that he focus and tailor the street food tour solely on Malay
Cuisine. He could not have been more accommodating. I highly recommend focusing on Malay cuisine.

One note: the tour detailed 6 tastings. This is more than enough for one food tour.
If you feel like you need more tastings, I highly recommend that you
book separate tours on different dates. The portions are very generous
and Faris allows you to really savor each dish.

Siddoz is a great guide to take you through the epicurean experience of Kuala Lumpur. I had learned so much about all the different local cuisines to be had.

I would not have believed that six samplings would fill me up so much, and I had to ask him to share the last two with me as I was completely full.

One last thing to mention is, as we walked through the hawker stands no restaurant sales people had bothered us as they had those who walking around. That and the knowledge of which authentic stalls to eat at, paid for itself.

Ramesh was a great host and guide. He was chatty and informative and introduced us to a lot of the local foods which were all very tasty. It was loads too, and excellent value and gives you a chance to work out what you might like or not like. Give it a go!

Friends
I wanted to love this tour, but the guide did not seem prepared and didn't really explain what any of the dishes we were eating were, so we didn't really learn anything from the tour. I was with 2 of my friends, and we explained at the beginning of the tour that myself and one of my friends do not eat eggs due to a sensitivity, and she said she could accommodate, but several dishes contained egg. I understand that we were one of the first tours to run since tourism started up after covid, but we were disappointed nonetheless. At this price point, we would recommend a different service.

My husband and I absolutely loved our food tour with Manjeet. We booked the 2 hour tour and it was a delicious and educational experience. Our tour was a delight from the minute we met Manjeet.
Because of possible rain, she came prepared with multiple umbrellas, which we ended up having to use. The food options were wonderful and since we were staying with Bukit Bintang, we revisited some of the eateries during our stay. Manjeet is a native from KL. She had a very calm demeanor and was a wealth of information when it came to her hometown, the many different cultures represented and the vast variety of foods that can be found. We visited Lot 10 and Jalan Alor and got hooked on Mangosteen. During our 2 hours together, we filled up on local delights and she provided useful tips for our short visit to KL.
I do also want to mention that Manjeet did check about food allergies and preferences. My husband and I luckily don't have any but we appreciated being asked. I would highly recommend booking Manjeet!

We had a private tour for our family of four(2 parents, 2 college age children). TK was an excellent guide. He gave us lots of interesting facts about the area as well as the food. We tried Durian, which was awful, but so glad we can say we tried it. TK gave great suggestions when we had our meal at Yong Tow Foo Sui Kow. Due to Covid, several of the shops that we would have stopped at were closed. Also, we got caught in a rain shower, this just meant having another beer and waiting it out. If you go with the attitude that we are in a Pandemic, it was an amazing tour! Lots of nibbles and great info.

We had an amazing evening with TK visiting lots of different food stalls & shops in vibrant KL. A great way to start our trip - it really gave us a "flavour" of the city. It was just us & TK so he made the tour fit us. Loved trying so many different types of food which we would never have done on our own. TK was warm & funny & told us so much about KL & Malaysia. Recommend this as a great introduction to KL & it's amazing food.

We enjoyed this tour tremendously. We were only in KL for 2 nights and booked this tour for the first night. Siddoz was already waiting for us at the meeting point and took us around the different places. Explained the different foods, different cultures and life in Malaysia. We had a wonderful time and even our teenage sons enjoyed it tremendously. Thank you Siddoz for a fun evening!
