Until the Merdeka 118 skydeck opens up I think the Sky Deck at the KL Tower offers the best aerial views of the city.

On one skybox you get great views of the Petronas Towers and then the other skybox is located right next to the Merdeka, so you get plenty of opportunities to get some great views and photos of these iconic towers.

Admission to the skydeck ($32) is wayyy more expensive than any other observation deck I've come across (including the Marina Bay Sands observation deck). Look, it's a great view at the Sky Deck, but I don't know if I would pay that in retrospect.

The observation deck is somewhat more moderately priced ($19) but the interesting thing is they didn't let myself or other Skydeck ticket holders to actually view this section (we technically paid for both the skydeck and observation deck). I don't know if something got lost in translation there or if you only get access to one or the other but it seems odd to include both on the ticketing if you opt for the Skydeck package.

Anyway, compared to the ticketing and queuing process at Petronas I would opt for the KL Tower Observation Deck, but probably the lower end package.

Although the Patronas Twin Towers are the most famous structural landmark, if you want to get views of the city WITH those iconic towers, this is the place to go. That said, ticket prices for this tower get pretty pricy if you want to do any of the packages. We stuck to the windowed observation area and were very happy with what we could see. The enclosed area was nice but can get pretty crowded. We got there at opening time to try to avoid crowds. The interior of the observation deck has some pretty interesting information about the world's tallest communications towers and puts this one in a global context. Also, there are FREE fixed binoculars. They cost in so many places, I had not anticipated they would be free. Benefit!

We visited early December and purchased our tickets on klook for a discounted amount. Views are stunning and is definitely a must visit, it started raining while we were waiting for our turn in the sky box and unfortunately did not stop and so we did not get to take out pics on the box.

Apart from that was beautiful and also visited the Eco forest park as it is a short walk.

It's been in operation for years so it's starting to show its age. To keep up with the popularity, many other attractions have been opened such as a mini zoo, and upside down house. We found the ticket price to go up simply just to the observation desk is too high, let alone to even higher and above, which costs RM100 and up. On Malaysia standard, that's a lot of money. We chose to just roam around and took some nice photos and left it at that.

We got the observation deck tickets of the Menara KL tower as complimentary from the travel agent. The tower has 2 parts, sky deck is the level above and the observation deck is below. We checked with the counter there and an upgrade to skydeck would be an additional 50 RM, we skipped upgrading as we had another observation at Petronas towers the next day. So my advise would be to do any one either Petronas towers or Skydeck of KL tower (not obseravtion deck) as both have similar views.

On your way back you’ll see a small colorful house which is upside down, its known as upside down house, we though it was like a cafe but its just a spot for some pictures. Looks good .

We were in KL a few days before New Years and the KL tower was packed. We took our confirmation email to the front desk and they tried to turn us away from the venue. When I told them this was our only day in KL, hence why we booked our tickets for this day, they relented and let us join the line. Note it was 2-2.5 hour wait once on the deck for the sky box where you get 90 seconds to take a photo. They will also try to charge you for the pictures their professional photog takes, but the view is great! Relieved we were allowed to wait in line with the tickets we bought.

Due to the torrential thunderstorms that were occurring on the day of our visit, we elected just to go to the observation deck rather than any of the other attractions.

Although our view was stifled somewhat by the weather, for the 30RM ticket cost (and because we'd also visited the Eco Park for free) it gave us a good insight into the KL skyline before our future visit to the Petronas Towers. Recommended if you're in the area, but I wouldn't make a special journey just to seek it out.

I went to this place with my family a few days before the Chinese New Year public holidays and had a terrible experience here. Paid 100 Ringgit per person to go up the tower and into the sky box. There was not much of a queue to go up the Tower and all seemed okay.

When we got to the top we were told there was a 3h wait to go into the Sky Box. The whole place was overcrowded to the point of barely finding a place where you could see the view. We ended up just spending a few minutes at the top as it was pointless trying to enjoy it and decided to go back down. That was when we realised the overcrowding actually could easily become dangerous. There was one sole person at the front of the queue who was not managing in any way the queue of people waiting to go down in the elevator. There was meant to be a queue only on one side of the corridor so people could have access to walk up and down the corridor on the other side, eg leave the queue and walk outside if they felt unwell or something. All of a sudden dozens of people from the back of the queue decided they no longer wanted to wait in the single line and pushed in front of everyone to form a second line and block the entire corridor. People started, naturally, to get annoyed, argue and push each other and nobody at all from the staff intervened or was even remotely capable of managing the situation.

I'm not sure if the situation got further out of control as it felt dangerous and our kids were getting distressed. So I picked them up and,as luckily I am a "big guy" (1m90 and 220 pounds),I could push my way through the queue to the lift with the intention of walking the whole way back down the stairs with my family. Fortunately we ended up at the floor where the restaurant was and took the lift down there. On top of the fact somebody could have been hurt the corridor where you had to wait to queue was uncomfortably hot, claustrophobic and without any adequate air conditioning. Maybe the place is less crowded during the week and not like this but it felt completely disorganised and overall a terrible experience for the money. Why not just skip this and go up the Petronas Towers which is a far better experience. As a result I would not recommend doing this to anyone.

Please be aware that this is only free ( July 2020 ) for Locals that hold a Mykad card. Also due to the amount of locals going at the moment foreigners cannot even buy a ticket as they reach their daily allocation very early in the morning. Very disappointing

Great view on the top of observation deck .... buying the cheapest ticket should be good enough in taking the panoramic view.

if you are afraid of height... you should not even attempt to go up but it is very safe and nice tower to view at night since it changes in so many colors.
