Overview

Rather than grapple with the metro and take your chances on the night, book in advance for this original tour. It combines one classic Shanghai experience—a Huangpu river cruise—with one very modern Chinese experience, a feast of Xinjiang (Uighur) food. You’ll have a private guide for the tour, making for a personalized experience, and hotel pickup and drop-off add extra convenience.

What to Expect

Meet your tour guide and private driver at your hotel lobby. You’ll head to the Pearl of the Orient Cruise Ship Terminal to embark on your river cruise. While on the boat, admire Shanghai’s past, the Bund, and the Peace Hotel to the west; to the east, view the city’s future represented in modern skyscrapers like the Shanghai Tower.

After your cruise, your guide will accompany you to a Xinjiang (Uighur) halal restaurant. Taste foods like lamb kebabs, yogurt, flatbreads, and da pan ji, a spicy chicken dish. Enjoy evening entertainment, perhaps a cultural dance or a belly dance show, before your guide drops you back at your hotel or or other prefered central Shanghai destination.

Lights on the river

Very good tour the lights from the boat of the various buildings were spectacular. We were also taken an area called French Connection which consisted of a lot of outdoor restaurants and shops. Very interesting, would reommend this tour.

My wife and I did a 45-50 minute cruise on the Huangpu River, boarding at the Bund. Throughout, the views - particularly of the Pudong side - are spectacular (see my example photograph). The trip is simply up and back on the river, but well...More

The cruise plus the meal took about 3 hours. As 'LiveForTravel1958' said above the river cruise alone is about 1.5 hours. I have no doubt the company offering the above would also be able to do airport connections... More

This tour can be done in the rain. We traveled everywhere in a van, so rain would not be an issue, or in the restaurant. The river cruise would not be as pleasant. There was plenty of indoor and covered areas on the boat... More
