Jorge picked us up from Arenal Springs Resort, was super friendly, so professional, and a great driver! (Drivers in Costa Rica can be pretty crazy)

We got to the North Fields Cafe and were immediately greeted by the staff and were directed to wash our hands and given a space to sit and wait for our tour to begin. (Really appreciated the Covid protocols - All the staff are boosted and vaxxed 👍)

David was our tour guide and he was phenomenal, he made everyone feel so welcomed and interacted with each person in the group (we even had a family of seven with very young kids).

David shared he started 3 years ago and didn’t know any English, speaking with him throughout the tour, you would never know he mastered the English language, he was incredibly adept at answering all of our questions and provided interesting tid bits that only a seasoned tour guide would know!

The tour consisted with a guided walk of the grounds for coffee and cacao, tasting of sugar cane juice (even a moonshine version which was strong but delicious!), chocolate tasting, and finally a coffee tasting. Both the coffee tasting and chocolate tasting gives you a chance to see the entire process and taste so many versions of chocolate and coffee 👍

Throughout the tour, David would share funny stories, historical facts, and have the group participate in every activity to help us learn and appreciate the things we take for granted when it comes to coffee and chocolate!!

This is by far one of the best tours I have been on in a long time and credit to the North Fields Cafe and the staff for creating such a memorable and enjoyable experience!! Additional shout out to David for making the tour so awesome!!!

The best way to sum things up is it was Pura Vida! 🤙

We were delighted with the one hour tour of the coffee and cocoa farm. Our guide Alberto the as knowledgeable and charming. The tasting following the tour was comprehensive and delicious. It didn’t feel “touristy” but really gave us a sense of the origins of something we consume every day.

This was a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Our guide, David, was so knowledgeable about the production of coffee and chocolate. Pick this tour if you are looking for a non-touristy commercial feel of a local owned business. We had a wonderful time 100% recommend!

This is such a great coffee and chocolate tour! I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn about and experience the Costa Rican way of coffee and chocolate harvesting! Our guide, Alberto, was beyond knowledgeable about the entire process. He taught us so much, answered all our questions, and was so funny!
He made our tour so wonderful for us.
The chocolate and coffee we tasted on the tour were the best I’ve ever had! I’d go again next time I’m in La Fortuna!
Thank you Alberto!!!

David was an awesome guide! Funny and very knowledgeable. The tour itself was really cool and the experience afterward (making Sugar Water, chocolate tasting, etc.) was amazing. Would definitely go back again and again.

This was much more interesting and informative than I expected. I learned a lot. Well worth doing and not an excuse to sell you their products although you can buy some if you want.

Highly recommend! Our guide David was delightful and very knowledgeable. He shared with us everything I wanted to ever know about coffee and chocolate, from their initial harvest to consumption. Tour of the family-owned farm was wonderful. We not only saw coffee and cacao plants, but also so many other fruits and plants - pineapples, coconuts, papayas, two types of bananas, orange trees, avocado trees, mango trees, an oregano tree, a lilac tree, etc! We were also lucky to spot various wildlife including toucans, currasows, a red-eyed tree frog, and even a poisonous snake. Tasting at the end of the tour comprised of diverse preparations of cacaos, coffees, and sugar cane. My family ended up purchasing several bags of the farm’s coffee from their gift shop.
