Can't recommend this company enough, they run a tight ship. We did the Nicaragua tour and it was fantastic; definitely a highlight of the trip. Our group was fairly small (6 guests, driver, and guide), which made the experience even better and more personal overall. Claudio is a great guide and the tour felt really authentic. I wondered what the big deal was from the other reviewers mentioning the border help; found out they're not wrong. While the actual checkpoint is straightforward, getting there involves walking on roads around trucks and such. Having a guide made it extremely easy for everyone.

Even factoring in a ~$130 COVID PCR test in Costa Rica the price is well worth it. PCR tests from the USA are accepted, so you can shave the test cost to $0 if you do the tour soon after coming into CR. Just ensure it's documented properly (name, DoB, etc.). Native's Way asks for your result before the tour date, so they can print the result for you.

We also did the Rio Celeste tour, as well as a sunset catamaran tour. Both were ran excellently and were easily worth the price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of the tours to friends/family. Pura Vida!

Highly recommend - great opportunity to visit Nicaragua and experience some of its beautiful landscapes and the city of Granada - the trip on the lake to feed the monkeys was fun and a carriage ride around Granada was a relaxing way to take in the sights of the city. We also got to visit a chocolate factory and a cigar factory and get up close with an active volcano! Our guide Claudio was excellent and took great care of us all the way. Its a very long day (c. 15 hours) so be prepared to bring snacks and spend a lot of time in the bus between destinations - but well worth it!

Everyone on our tour said they had a fantastic time. They had someone meet us at the border and he greatly expedited our crossing into Nicaragua. Claudia was fantastic getting us our own separate lines and moving us quickly through a very slow process. Our guide and driver were amazing. Our guide was extremely well informed and provided us with fantastic information about Nicaragua, even holding maps so we could see the country as he spoke about it. We had breakfast in Rvias, visited a market area, went to the volcano, chocolate museum, and fed the monkeys on Monkey Island. We paid $8 each extra for a very informative carriage right through Granada with a lovely guide that was super informative. If you want to see a lot in one day and learn a tremendous amount about Nicaragua then this is the perfect tour for you. Our tour was on 12/23/21. I am putting the date so Native can look to see who our AMAZING guide was as I am uncertain of the spelling of his name. This young man provides top of the line service!!!!

The main objective for me was seeing Masya. The massive crater did not disappoint. Absolutely amazing to stand so close to the opening. The pictures are a little misleading. Their is currently no molten lava in the caldera. We new this from research before booking. The stop at the dormant volcano crater was awe inspiring as well. Beautiful view. Our tour guide David immediately noticed our group was not interested in spending time in the markets so he came up with alternatives. The carriage ride in Granada was a good add on for us. The guide gave us a brief history of the city and lots of facts on life there. The chocolate factory tour was underwhelming but the staff was very nice and did their best. The boat ride around a portion of lake Nicaragua was fun. Some reviewers have complained about feeling rushed during the tour and the length of the day. I think the operators did a really good job of showing us a lot in a little amount of time. We covered A LOT of ground in one day and navigated two border crossings. I highly recommend this tour to those that don’t mind traveling at a fast past and want to see a little bit of a country that is developing.

This provided an opportunity to sample Nicaragua from the part of Costa Rica (Guanacaste) where we were staying. The trips picks up from various points along the cost from Tamarindo, we were staying in Playa Hermosa, and you can tell them which hotel to collect them from and collection was very prompt. There is quite a bit of driving as to be expected, we combined various collections near Liberia for a larger bus to take us to the border. The crossing was ok, a bit delayed but the guides dealt with all of this for you including the fees, you did need a Covid vaccine certificate though. We stopped for a nice breakfast by Lake Nicaragua, and got to see a baby croc and turtle close up. Then we had stops at Mirador de Catarina for view over Laguna de Apoyo, and also at the Volcan Masaya. Neither of these stops require a great deal of time, and so what we had was sufficient. The stops at Masaya for lunch was good, the market was mainly tourist souvenirs. The stop at Granada was good, and we enjoys some time in the central plaza. I think overall it would have been nice to have some more free time in Masaya and Granada to explore a bit, but obviously this is quite a packed tour. The chocolate tour was fun, and the host was very entertaining, so we quite enjoyed that. The final stop was for a trip to the monkey island on lake Nicaragua, this was a nice way to end and you got to see the expensive houses on the lake islands and feed the monkeys. Long trip home, but they get you back before the restaurants close, so we still got dinner back at the hotel. Well worth the trip if you have the day to spare, and so fully recommended.

This is an absolutely fantastic tour. It has to be the best value of tour out there. They pack a lot in in one day, and I would have a hard time choosing what was the favorite thing because it's an interesting mix of activities. The blend of it all makes it outstanding. Masaya Volcano ranks up there with one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. We loved the horse drawn carriage ride in Granada and learning about the colonial architecture. The boat ride at the end of the day was a nice relaxing end to the tour, looking at all of the interesting houses built on islands. There was a guide on the Costa Rica side (Claudio was fantastic) that made sure we had the right documentation, and a guide met us at the border and stayed with us the whole day. David was amazing!. We learned a ton about Nicaragua and had a lot of laughs as well! They pack a lot in in one day and you go home tired, but there is time to sleep on the bus, particularly on the way home. As others have said, you will want to and should tip because the service provided during this long day will be outstanding. Plan on tipping the driver and the two tour guides, as well as at the restaurants. Bring cash for the tips and any drinks and souvenirs.

The most important reason that we took this tour was seeing the active Masaya volcano which was closed for some stupid tight rope walk over the molten lava. The closure wasn’t only for a day or a week. They have a announcement a plenty time before. But unfortunately the tour company (Native’s Way) never mentioned that even I called them for more information. It was a big disappointment when we have been told that we can’t see the active volcano after paying 180 usd per person and driving like 4 hours each way. Also The driver drove crazy (from the other side of road for like 10 kilometres before the Nicaragua border. Because like hundreds of trucks were lined up at the border and he decided to pass all which was very dangerous. The 3 star is only for Edwardo our great tour leader and chocolate factory.
Not worth it if you don’t visit the active volcano

We loved every stop on the tour. Our most excellent guide ensured we got a real flavor of Nicaragua's diversity. Our favorites were seeing the active volcano and the spider monkeys on the island in the lake. Our advice is to buy snacks/sandwiches for the ride home. Dinner is not included and we only got back to our resort around 9pm (we were the closest resort). It was well worth it though.

From the booking request to the final implementation, everything went perfectly and courteously. Punctual pickup and amazing sights that day. Volcanic lake, active volcano, beautifal Granada, Lake Nicaragua and its islands, monkey feeding. Great breakfast with a beautiful view of the lake and delicious lunch in the city. It was great organized. The guide was really great, friendly and funny. Many people (also drivers on both sides of the boarder) took care of a great day for us.
Thank the whole team for a great experience!!!

This is a great tour. We had a decent breakfast of pinto, saw one dormant and one active volcano, had a fantastic lunch, and did a brief tour of Granada followed by a boat ride around the islands. Hot weather but not much walking. The horse-drawn carriage ride costs extra but was worth it to avoid being in the sun. This tour does not provide bottled water, so they should remove that and you should bring your own water or just buy some.
