We were at first a little hesitant to commit a whole day to this tour, but we were so glad that we did! Our tour guide, Gustavo, exceeded our expectations in terms of his deep knowledge of rain forest wildlife and plants and his professionalism. The Rio Celeste hike may have been the highlight, but the sloth sanctuary tour with Johnny was also amazing! We saw three sloths, a Poison Dart Frog and Hog-nosed Pit Viper... from a safe distance of course! As other reviews have mentioned, if you have a lightweight rain jacket, pack it! The intermittent rainfall is real. This excursion was well worth our valuable vacation time in Costa Rica!

Gustavo made this adventure educational and enjoyable!! There were so many interesting pieces of Costa Rican culture that I learned in just one day! Not to mention the incredible views of the waterfalls, rainforest, and SLOTHS!! After a beautiful hike through Tenorio make sure you grab a roasted corn at the entrance of the national park!!

We did the Rio Celeste tour and it was absolutely amazing. Words and pictures really don’t do it justice. Gustavo was our tour guide and he was the best. You can feel his His love, passion and pride for his county in the way he explains and gives information.

I would 100% recommend taking a light raincoat because it will rain in spurts. We were able to buy plastic ponchos from a local for $3 it did the job.

Our group of 8 had an excellent time of this tour yesterday. We saw several species including a Tucan, a snake, a pointed headed lizard, sloths and a poisonous tree frog.
Our guide Hector was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Also we had people in our group with different ages and fitness levels and we were all able to enjoy this hike. Thank you Hector for a great day in Costa Rica! Pura Vida!

After reading previous reviews, I decided on doing this tour and I am so glad that I did so. First, Hector (guide) and Jose(driver) were pleasant to be with for 13 hours. Hector's experience, expertise, compassion, dedication and kindness were evident throughout the day. The tour had a few bumps, however, it was definitely worth it. It started with a hotel pickup around 6:50 AM. Stopping for breakfast and to pick up additional participants. Since this took place on December 30th, the park was extremely busy and pack with guests and we had to wait longer than normal to get into the park. Once in, the hike was a nice hike with expert commentary from Hector. Once arriving at the waterfall, it was beautiful. Definitely worth it. The sloth sanctuary was nice and we did see a few sloths. Since we were behind time wise, we arrived at the Llanos de Cortes Waterfall late, however, Hector was able to get us in the swimming and experience was wonderful. I fully recommend this tour.

I enjoyed the ride through the mountains. The views were just spectacular. We were lucky to spot a mama sloth and her baby on our way to the first waterfall. The hike through the rain forest was very interesting. The waterfall in Tenorio National Park was so unique due to its colors.

This was a wonderful tour of 2 different parks and wildlife sanctuary. Our guide, Gustavo, was extremely knowledgeable of the plant and wildlife. Excellent tour for the price as we definitely saw more of Costa Rica on this excursion than any other we took.

We couldn’t have been happier with this trip. Gustavo was so informed on the plants/animals and you could see his passion for the national park. He made the trip x10 better with how he really immersed you in the experience. The waterfall was absolutely breathtaking and the hike wasn’t too hard. The slot sanctuary was so awesome because not only did they show you sloths but other native wildlife! I could not recommend this trip enough!

Gustavo was a great guide filling us in with some of the Costa Rican history then describing our adventure to the Llanos de Cortes waterfall and the even more majestic waterfall after a hike through the rainforest to the Rio Celeste. Great lunch and nice walk through the sanctuary to see the sloths, flora and frogs.
