Disappointing trip down memory lane
Aug 2021
I visited Knott's Berry Farm after not having been there in over 30 years. I knew it wouldn't be the same place after that much time, but what I wasn't ready for was just how rundown the place would look...especially during it's 100th Anniversary celebration. The rides were obviously not refurbished and there were horrible wear spots on various rides and what appeared to be rust spots on the roller coaster supports. What was the worst part of the experience was that one would have to wait no less than 45 min to an hour in food service lines. I even had to leave the park in order to have lunch because the wait would have been well over an hour just for a quick service meal. I did wait over an hour in one line just to get a refill on the souvenir soda cup I purchased (another big mistake) and what I saw infuriated me. There were 5 people in the food service location and only 1 was doing anything at a time. They also had only one register open. There were enough people in that location to have had 2 registers open and move the line along faster. Actually, I just read what review 703deenap wrote and that person hit the mark dead-on though we did not buy the "skip-the-line" passes. I feel like Covid will be blamed for what's going on in the park, but I feel the real culprit lies within upper-level management. Maybe they should do some housecleaning. Even with management changes, I doubt they'll ever get any of my money again.

It felt like a Covid breeding ground!
We spent the day here on a trip to California recently. The park had just reopened to 100% capacity and it was a disaster. Not only was it very crowded and very understaffed, but it felt unsafe. There was no social distancing anywhere, no sign of any cleaning practices, let alone, extra cleaning due to Covid. I did not see anyone in the park wearing a mask. We paid for the “skip the line” passes. On many rides there were only a couple of people ahead of us. However, the loading and unloading of the rides was so inefficient, that we often just stood there waiting for 15-20 minutes. Many rides had one worker doing everything. Not only is that unsafe, but it’s not efficient. The park should not have opened up to full capacity without proper staffing and safety measures in place.

Fun but you need expensive fast pass
Aug 2021 • Family
Rides are great but lines can make this trip terrible. We opted to buy fast pass tickets after getting there which added $94 each to cost of admission to avoid 2 hour waits! Makes for an expensive day.
Don’t buy the food plan. Many places within the park do not accept it and you are stuck with few choices. We had a terrible lunch with a long wait in ghost town and a good dinner at a barbecue place, but lines are really long. Have someone in your party go first while kids enjoy another ride if you have a fast pass. Be prepared to wait- better options if you don’t have a dining plan. Note, desserts are not included unless you buy premium and then only few.
We had a fun day , but it was close to $1000 for our family. Worth it? Certainly not often.

It was fun because of the Fast-Pass
General $59
Fast pass $90
All-day dining $34.47
Souvenir bottles with all-day free refill $15.07
Funpix $29.99
Soak City $48

2021-August. Our hotel had a free shuttle to Knotts Berry Farm.

We arrived at 10:15 am, and there was already a 7-minute line for the bag checks. They do allow outside snacks and drinks.

3 families were in front of us in the park entrance to get our ticket scanned.

No park map was handed. Mask was not mandatory.

A funpix id was given in the funpix booth. If your child wants to take pictures with the characters, then funpix deal is good. Our child didn't and not all rides have photos, so i didn't think it was worth it.

Our fast pass bracelets were given to us @ The General Store.

Lines were at least an hour long and LONGER at the popular rides. It was great to have the fast pass as it reduced our waiting in line into 3-8 minutes.

We like the game prizes. About $6 per game. But the games works with a game card. The Game card itself is free BUT you have to put money in it ($5 increments). So we ended up with $2 unused balance.

There were some restroom were the faucets were installed incorrectly, as the water spout ended up an inch or less from the sink wall. Hard to wash hands when your hands keeps hitting the sink wall.

Some of the restrooms runout of toilet paper @ noon. Lol! So make sure you have toilet paper before you sit @ the toilet. 😆.

It was fun for us because of the fast pass.

Should understand things don't go as plan, I was with my family and the park closed down and we were told to leave due to suicide jumper that caused it, asked for refund and now it's nobody faults and now I'm stuck in the middle hearing the blame game it's Knott's Berry farm, boots the third party from witch you got tickets, really two big companies that make over millions and millions of dollars a year and can't refund my $251.00 all because they don't loose, well I lost ass customer that depends on having fun with my family at one of the most recognize Theam Park, may not be a big deal to them but to I worked hard and saved up for the weekend and I got a big F***You.....
Sorry you won't get your refund back have a nice day,
Bottom line is don't expect anything back if something was to happen, the look on my family face when we had to leave sad and priceless with no smile.

Just to clarify some details about the unfortunate event on Saturday, JULY 17. The park was not evacuated nor did we fully close at any time on the evening of Saturday, JULY 17. For the safety of all guests and staff, one section of the park was closed and guests were evacuated from that area for several hours. The affected area of the park did re-open for normal operation several hours before normally scheduled park closure at 11pm

Horribly long lines at Knotts. DONT GO. Understaffed
Jul 2021 • Family
I’m a Southern California native and have been coming to Knotts for years and this is THE WORST it’s ever been. EXTREMELY LONG LINES. Understaffed, so the lines are super, super long everywhere. Drinking fountains are turned off so you have to wait 45 minutes to 1hr 45 minutes to just buy water at whatever stand is selling it. They also have broken cash registers, so be prepared to wait!!!! We even bought the Fast Lane passes (for $95 on a Monday!) and it wasn’t worth it. DONT GO. Save your day and do something else. NOT WORTH IT.

It was quite a day, and describing this park as mediocre would be accurate or even generous. That's not to say there weren't fun things to do, or good moments, but we have a long list of complaints.

1. Parking: The parking experience was confusing to say the least. We spent a solid half hour circling the park while a handful of attendants randomly waved us in different directions. We even rolled down the windows to ask a couple of them where we were supposed to go, and while they offered directions, ultimately they didn't help us find where we were supposed to go at all. Luckily we eventually wandered over to the right lot. We literally drove through the main Knott's entrance three times before finally getting there. Better signage is needed!

2. Ride lines: The wait times on the day we visited (a Monday) were insane. At least three of the main rides had 90+ minute waits all day, and without a lot of other options of things to do, we pretty much just had to wait. For everything. Ride line wait estimates were rarely accurate. Once it was shorter than anticipated, but every other ride we waited for was 30-60 minutes longer than stated.

3. Food lines: Basically the same problem as the rides. Took an hour to get food from a counter service restaurant. Very little line direction or organization, so everyone we saw was confused about where the line started.

4. Food: The quality of the food was pretty mediocre in general, especially for the price. Generally bland, and low quality. Nothing seemed very fresh. There was even a point that we decided to throw half of a meal out, we were so disappointed. Vegetarian options were few and far between; despite claims on apps and the park website, posted menus in restaurants did not show any vegetarian options. There were some things that we really enjoyed: frozen lemonade, boysenberry cookies, and pie were all delicious, so it wasn't a total wash, but when the best meal you've had all day is from Panda Express, that's kind of sad for a place with Berry Farm right in its name.

5. All Day Dining Pass: Don't do it! Between ride and restaurant wait times, it was difficult-to-impossible for us to squeeze in enough dining experiences to just break even on the cost of the pass. And that's not even speaking of the incredibly limited options of what actual food items are included. To begin with, figuring out which restaurants and which menu options are dining-pass-included was difficult. The app, menus, and website are all frustratingly vague about the offerings. There were many restaurants we were interested in trying, but ultimately avoided because they did not offer anything in the dining plan. In hindsight, we wish we'd skipped the dining pass and just ordered whatever we wanted as we explored the park instead. It sounds like the seasonal dining pass offers much better value, but since based on our overall experience we don't plan on coming back anytime soon, we will be giving that a miss.

6. Line etiquette/management: Knott's employees do very little to manage the line flow and organization of any of the attractions we visited. That led to us being cut in front of by people line skipping to "join their friends/group" countless times. Once a pair of teens sped past the line, all the way to the front (we'd been waiting for an hour), and then they were let on board the ride in front of everyone who'd been waiting, even though their group were clearly not there. This delayed our ride time by a full ten minutes, because they edged us off of the next coaster, and the one following was filled by fast-pass riders. It would take more staffing, but someone needs to be at the front and back of the queues to manage crowd control. And this is something I previously observed the last time I visited, years ago, so this is not just a post-pandemic staffing issue. It seems like it is just the way Knott's runs things.

7. Ride loading: Incredibly slow and inefficient. This seemed to be one of the central drivers of long wait times. It could take 5+ minutes to exchange incoming/outgoing passengers of a single coaster for some rides.

8. Cleanliness: Park was pretty unkempt. Lots of litter, consistently around the park. Bathrooms in particular were messy.

There are a few things to praise. The rides themselves, once boarded, were generally really enjoyable. The staff were generally nice and helpful around the park (shoutout to Chuck in the gun shop of all places). The bakery is fantastic. But these things alone don't make a theme park worth visiting. The experience overall left a lot to be desired. We were really hoping for more. In summary: We're very excited for our next trip to Disneyland.

Worse theme park experience
Jul 2021 • Couples
Worst theme park experience ever. Extremely long wait time 2+ hours for almost everything. 30-45 minute wait for food. Long jumping ALL day long and the employees take their side instead of yours when you try to say something. Will never patronize this company again and will never advise anyone waste their money here.
