Overview
Swimming with sparkling plankton is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that many travelers miss out on. This unique sightseeing excursion reveals the bioluminescent plankton of Sihanoukville Bay and takes you to the best places to see the underwater phenomenon. Choose to either view the sparkling plankton from the boat or dive into the water with a snorkel mask. A choice of two departure times allows you to slot this into any schedule.
What to Expect
Glowing plankton is a natural wonder that is absolutely breathtaking. The brackish water in Sihanoukville bay — a mix of salt and fresh water — combines with nutrients from mangrove trees to make the area a perfect environment for bioluminescent dinoflagellates to thrive.
We just wanted to keep thinking it is magic. And would love to share it with our guests.
When the sun starts to set we go to a mile long jungle track to SunSet beach for a beautiful sunset atmosphere. After jump on a boat for a night swim you will never forget with the playful bioluminescent plankton. When it’s dark, you will have the opportunity to snorkel the amazing bio-luminescent plankton. See the incredible underwater light show, right in front of your eyes. To get the most out of this tour you need to go in the water with a mask on. You can see the bio-luminescence sitting on the boat or by dangling your feet in the water and kicking. However if you hop in the water with a mask only then will you see the light show at its best. If you are not a strong swimmer don't worry as we have plenty of life jackets.
The tour will be guided by experienced English speaking guides.

Bioluminescence can really only be seen in the darkness, so we take our boat off city lights to experience the full effect.
The plankton light up whenever they are disturbed, though only for a moment. The greater the disturbance, the brighter the glow — boats typically create the most intense effects.
These swims would usually be in absolute darkness to witness both the starry skies above and the starry seas below.

However, the experience of swimming in the midst of these amazing creatures is something that must be witnessed at least once by every scuba diver or avid snorkeler.

Once in a Lifetime Experience

I took the Plankton tour from Koh Rong Samloen and it was simply incredible. This is an experience that can't really be photographed, you just have to see it. Honestly, this tour was the best $10 I've maybe ever spent while traveling. The trip itself...More

Misleading picture

Did not have much interaction with Karma-Kazi besides meeting at the shop. I was directed to a bike that took me to another beach. The trip was on a small local taxi boat. The guide did not talk at all except to say "snorkel here"...More

You can see the magic but it just not as magical, we do however have trained staff and life jackets on the boat and will gladly assist you in and out of the water.
