Lumbini Tour with local Guide

Lumbini Tour with local Guide

By Himalayan Advisor
It was 2500 years ago in the jungles of southern Nepal that one of the world’s greatest spiritual teachers was born. Next to a beautiful pond surrounded by tigers and wild animals, his mother gave birth to what would become Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Lumbini is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to its tranquil setting. Here at the Maya Devi Temple, one can actually see a footprint left by the infant Buddha upon his birth. Walk along the peaceful canal that leads to monasteries reflecting the lands where Buddhism has spread. This is an overnight trip from Kathmandu, first by flight, then private vehicle to Lumbini. Tour during the day, and in the evening spend time at the reflecting pond overlooking the sacred birthplace in the ultimate of spiritual experiences.

          Memorable experience in Nepal
This tour was a wonderful experience, what made this truly memorable was Anant the tour guide who was so genuine, knowledgeable and kind. This company truly cares about their service and go above and beyond to accomodate their guests. We spent the whole day over 12 hours together from site to site and had a chance to deep dive into each sites history and facts at the comfort of our own pace. Im so glad we went ahead with this tour.

          Highly recommended tour - Awesome!
This was one of the best guided tours I have done. My guide for the day , Ananta, was excellent. He is an amazing storyteller and has a wealth of knowledge on many topics. He happily answered all my questions , and I learned so much listening to him . He was great company and easy to talk to throughout the day , he often offered to take photos and suggested an amazing restaurant for lunch . Ananta paced our stops well and always made sure to ask if I was doing okay, I really appreciated his concern for my well-being and not just ticking off the stops we needed, too. As a Hindu, I gained so much from this tour because of Ananta and his willingness to go into detail if I needed with regard to certain sites or topics . Our driver was always nearby and ready to leave whenever we needed. He was excellent on the roads, a safe and courteous driver who maneuvered through Kathmandu's busy roads calmly and with easy . This tour covers alot in one day , so expect a long day with lots of walking but one that you'll experience and see alot , so its great value for money , especially if you're only in Kathmandu for a short period of time, this tour ensures you get a good dose of the culture while fitting in all the important heritage sites. Another great thing about this tour , is that all the admission fees to sites are included, so it saves you from having to carry around cash and dealing with any language barriers had you done this on your own . I highly recommend this tour, and Ananta, his professionalism and impressive knowledge of all things Nepali , has truly left me with memories I will cherish forever.

          Simply amazing!
Ananta was an exceptional tour guide and the driver Upendra was very professional. The tour was amazing. It was certainly a full day tour that made the most of my time in Kathmandu. Ananta’s in depth knowledge of the sites added an extra dimension to the tour highlighting the rich and ancient cultural history of Kathmandu. I would highly recommend this tour to any tourist, especially if you don’t have much time to spend in Kathmandu. Michael. Australia, Sydney.

          One day tour Katmandu
This was an excellent tour of Katmandu for anyone short on time. In one day I saw all the major sites of the city. There is no way I could have done this on my own. I booked this after reading the other positive reviews and I have to agree with them. Shanti was an excellent tour guide. She has her degree in tourism and is getting a masters in Nepali history. She was so informative and I learned so much (even though I know a good deal about Hinduism and Buddhism). She was also very flexible (even though we were on a tight schedule she allowed me to do a little shopping in the street). Our driver did an exceptional job navigating the very crowded streets and the car was very comfortable. I highly recommend this tour! Ideally if you have more time and can split it into two days you may prefer it so you can spend more time at each site (though I felt like I saw everything I wanted to).

          Great tour, worth the money!
Shanti was a super guide. She has a lot of knowledge and told us all about all the sights. We had time to look around, ask questions and had a great time. We loved the laughs we shared during the end of the day. The driver (electric car, yesss!) was very good too. Thank you!

Explore Kathmandu valley in 1 day
Shanti was our guide of the day and I loved her knowledge about the city history! Together with her driver we have been on the road for 10 hours and made 16.000 steps:) we just returned and enjoying the picture she has made of us. It’s a long day but if you have little time like us this is what you should book. I would highly recommend it!

A day full day of Nepali culture and history
A great one day tour to cover all of Kathmandu UNESCO sites. Yes it is pretty long but the pace and timing is very manageable. The tour will give you an extensive background not only about the sites but also about Kathmandu area & Nepal. Worth the whole day spend around the valley and recommended if you have only limited number of days in Kathmandu. Our guide, Sarita, whom we have spent the day before visiting Chandragiri with, is very understanding and flexible in adapting to our needs and limitation. We recommend her highly should you join any of the tour by this provider. We ended up requesting her service through out our visit in Kathmandu.

Highly recommended as a starter / light activity
We did this tour on our first day in Kathmandu after arriving quite late the night before. We purposely picked this as we felt that the program is not too early & heavy for the first day. We were met by our guide Sarita at the hotel and we proceeded directly to the Cable Car station, about 40 mins from the center of the city. Once we reached the top of the Chandragiri hill we were able to see a large part of the Kathmandu valley and we were lucky enough that the sky was pretty clear which enabled us to spot a number of the Himalaya’s peak from a distance. The temple on the hill top has an important historical background as well. Overall, the activity was worthwhile as an intro to Kathmandu and recommended if you are looking for a light activity for half a day. We were great full to have Sarita assigned as our guide as she speaks very good english and very knowledgeable about everythingNepal & Kathmandu. Highly recommended to request for the service should you engage a tour with this provider.

A perfect Day to get to know Kathmandu!
An amazing way to get to know Kathmandu in a Day. It’s a long journey but definetely worth it. There was just two of us so we had our private transportation and that made it even better, because we felt safe and relaxed. Our tour guide was Shanti Karki, she was the best, always with a smile on and with so much knowledge that it was overwhelming. She is the one!! Lunch recommendation was great as well, we had a glimpse of Nepalese Cuisine.

          Fantastic and highly recommended tour
What a wonderful experience. Shanti did a fantastic job providing a comprehensive tour without making it exhausting. She provided valuable information about the Nepali history, culture, architecture, and answered my many questions. Was brought to a diverse array of places and felt taken care of along the way. Everything was run very well and efficiently. Highest recommendations!!!

          Highlights of Kathmandu Valley
Overall, it was a great experience, and I got the positive energy that I needed from every site that I visited and from my guide, Shanti. I would highly recommend being accompanied by a guide, and Shanti is the perfect guide. If you don't know sites very well, you may well think that all temples are somewhat similar, although that is not true. Each place has an interesting and unique story behind it, and she will tell them to you nicely. Furthermore, there are places where people of certain religion are allowed, so I would recomment it from this aspect as well.

Enchanting Kathmandu ( Possibly the best place on earth)
Shanti was an amazing guide and companion on my first trip to Nepal. She allowed me to go at my own pace, provided guidance throughout the trip, provided the history and culture of everything around, and was just generally a pleasure to be around. This tour hits so many amazing places in Kathmandu and surrounding areas, but it’s not just restricted to the itinerary, since there is something historic or interesting around every corner. Our driver, who I regrettably don’t remember his name was excellent. Very relaxing and comfortable ride through areas normal visitors just don’t get to experience. With the abundance of cultural sites and areas, great guides and friends and the general friendliness of the Nepalese people, it would be extremely difficult not to have a good time exploring the area. I’m already plotting my next trip to Nepal with Shanti, as this place holds too many wonders which I continue to seek.

Amazing! Helped us learn a ton in a short time.
Sarita was simply incredible. She's clearly a passionate scholar of Nepali history, and was able to answer every question we had in great detail. She's also a fun hang! We really enjoyed spending two days with her and soaking up her knowledge of Kathmandu and it's incredibly intricate history. She was kind and flexible and able to respond to our different levels of comfort with different things at whatever time. We highly recommend booking with Himalayan Advisor but especially Sarita!

An amazing time! First time in Kathmandu!
This experience was amazing! I did a solo tour and it was definitely worth it. The tour guide was knowledgeable about the history of the World Heritage Sites and was great about answering any questions I had. My favorite site was Monkey Temple! — when you go be sure to not have any food on you because the monkeys will climb on you. This tour also comes with a lunch experience and at the restaurant you get a good view of a temple. We also got very lucky and saw a dance/festival that occurs once every 12 years ! Kathmandu has an interesting history , as it is the birthplace of Lord Bhudda. If you have time take this tour with Shanti! - and you won’t be sorry!
