Overview

Search for orcas and humpback whales in Husavik’s waters aboard a traditional Icelandic oak ship. Famous for its abundance of marine life, Skjalfandi Bay makes a great whale-watching spot. Listen to your guide's in-depth commentary about the animals' biology and behavior, as well as the country’s maritime history. Feel free to pack light, as refreshments are available for purchase on board.

What to Expect
Make your way to the tour's departure point at your chosen time. There are several times available to fit your schedule. Meet your captain and crew while boarding a traditional oak ship, which will take you out on Skjalfandi Bay to search for marine life.

As you leave the coastline, imagine what life might have been like years ago for the Icelanders who sailed the frigid seas on these traditional boats. You'll learn about the country's history of whaling and whale-watching from your guide.

With your guide's pro tips, look for signs of humpback whales and orcas. Listen to commentary about the biology and behavior of these animals, then warm up with some hot cocoa and traditional Icelandic scones (for purchase).

When your journey is over, head back to the harbor for drop-off.

Unforgettable experience!

This was an absolute highlight of our 10 days in Iceland! We were lucky to go out on the day we had booked, as the morning sailing was cancelled due to bad weather (which gave us a chance to visit the Whale Museum next door,...More

A trip worth the price! It is worth paying attention to good weather so that the impressions from the trip are better. We bought a trip in search of whales, and there were puffins and dolphins. Great place and unforgettable views and impressions. I would...More

Dear Pawel, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed the whale watching experience! As you rightly mention, the weather is always a factor! However, the whales don't mind if it's raining. They're already wet! It's great you managed...More

Dear Deanna, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you decided to go out on our bigger traditional Icelandic oak boat, in the unfavourable weather circumstances. The thing about whales is that they don't care if it's raining or windy,...More

A wonderful Tour

This was my first whale watching and I was impressed by the number of whales I manage to see during the three hours tour. An experience I would definitively recommend to do.

Whale watching delight

We took part in a whale watching tour out of Husavik on our trip to Iceland. The on-board commentary from the Whale Biologist was very useful and gave us some information that we had not previously heard. Our tour compared very favorably to our whale...More

Dear Pah, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm in awe that you would choose our whale watching tour over the tours out of Tofino and the Big Islands of Hawaii! Wow! We really appreciate the compliment! Best, Elís Orri
