Get a new perspective on the gorgeous La Jolla coastline with a sea caves kayak tour. No gear or experience is needed to paddle along the coast with a guide, exploring sea caves and rock formations while looking for marine life such as sea lions, dolphins, and even orcas.
What to Expect

Meet your guide in central La Jolla at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. Begin with a lesson on paddling techniques and safety. Tandem or single kayaks can be selected at checkout.

Push off from the beach at La Jolla Shores and paddle along the rocky coastline, considered one of the most beautiful in Southern California. Follow your guide to the La Jolla Sea Caves, where you get up-close views of interesting rock formations and even paddle inside the caves (if conditions allow).

As you navigate above giant sea kelp forests, keep an eye out for local marine life including seabirds, seals, sea lions, and even dolphins and orca whales. Prepare to get wet during an exciting “surf ride” on the waves to get back to shore at the end of the tour.

Nice trip down to La Jolla from OC

Ocean kayaking

It was a fun trip although a little light on the cave kayaking since that was the name of the tour, only one cave for 2 minutes doesn’t really warrant a cave tour. Helen was a sweet guide.

Great experience

Loved kayaking, was a little cold the day we went but I got to see all the caves, a sea lion, pelicans, and got a good workout in! Great tour guide!

My fiancé and I did this with our tour guide Yasseen (sorry if I didn't spell that correct) and he was awesome! We got to see two families of dolphins, learn about Dr. Seuss and his "Grinch", the reserve and preservations of wildlife, while exploring...More

Children 6 and older can go on the sea cave tours. They recommend that 6-12 year olds rent the tandem kayaks with an adult. That’s what we did and everyone enjoyed it. Kayaking on the sea is a little more intimidating... More

2-3 hours including the short walk down from the outfitters. We took the first morning tour. Less kayaks on the water.
